I love Van Leeuwen! Best ice cream! So many flavors to choose from and their vegan options are always amazing!!! My daughter lived in NYC and we always went to visit the Seaport location and I'm pumped that Boulder and Denver have a location!
While visiting the area we stopped here for dessert! The store itself was cute and trendy, and the workers were very friendly! We were able to sample a variety of flavors prior to selecting. We each got the single scoop option, which was plenty! While we felt the pricing was a little high, overall we did really enjoy this sweet treat, and would consider coming back again if in the area!
Came here for a yelp event and am so glad I did. How did I not know about this amazing spot. Such a sweet treat to have after a long week or stressful workday. They have many options and even have some gluten free/vegan choices! The Honeycomb and brownie was to die for. I loved how they had such unique flavors! The guy working at the front was helpful and friendly. The store itself was very clean with a few seating options inside as well as around the mall. They even have prepackaged ice cream options if you want to take some home. So glad that Van Leeuwen did not disappoint. Definitely plan on coming back! Overall 5/5
We came to Van Leeuwen's on a Saturday early afternoon. They offered a two-scoop Yelp Event for me but of course I had to bring the family too 'cuz ice cream is life! lol It's in a really cute shopping center and cute outdoor seating. It was a really warm day so the place was poppin'. The guy behind the counter was really nice and our group of four he served samples with a smile. What we swallowed: *HONEYCOMB: Simple with great bits of honeycomb. *BLACK CHERRY CHIP: This came recommended from the employee and it was so tasty! I really loved this flavor! * COOKIES & CREAM: My go-to favorite and this had super big chunks of cookies and really, really creamy! I loved it! *LEMON SORBET: Ohhh! Pucker up! If lemon is your thing, this will definitely be your jam! Tarty and refreshing! *BROWN SUGAR COOKIE DOUGH BROWNIE: This was a really good one too, lots of flavor and chunks of cookie dough brownie. My two girls were fighting over this one. The ice cream was great, service was great, it was a really fun experience. We enjoyed sitting outside on all the cool chairs and people watching while we enjoyed the great ice cream. Check it out!
Swung in for a Yelp event. Loved the cookies and cream and special summer berry flavor! Staff was friendly and helpful. It's a small area and they don't have a million flavors, but they have a vegan one and some toppings! One improvement I would say is to spice up your menu displays a bit! I found the small words hard to read and thought some color or different fonts would be cheerful. Otherwise it was a fantastic dessert and I'll come on back next time I'm around!
This was some seriously good ice cream. Expensive, but definitely a case of you get what you pay for and every bite tasted like quality. We took my son for ice cream the other night when we were at the 29th St. concert series. He endedseries he ended up getting (maybe blueberry cheesecake ice cream- my husband took him in) which is typically not my favorite, but it was excellent ice cream. My husband ended up going back and getting us a black cherry sundae to split and it was also really good although after a little while it did get to be a little bit much for me I appreciated the fact that they used high-quality maraschino cherries in the Sunday that really made it special.
Saw this cute little ice cream shop in a shopping mall, can't wait to try it, they're generous with samples, I asked for the best seller, the staff said honeycomb, it's too sweet for me, so I opted for the other best seller, the earl grey tea which's so rich in the tea taste , it definitely my cup of tea.
We had ice cream for dinner and it was delicious! When we walked in, Andy, who was the solo employee while we were there, was cleaning the shop. He greeted us and gave us time to look at the menu which was great since it was my first visit. I immediately found my favorite ice cream flavor and another to try: mint chip and dark chocolate fudge brownie. The chocolate was creamy and balanced so you could taste the dark chocolate and the sweet goodness. The mint chip, my husband and I both agreed, was possibly the best mint chip we've had. The chips were big enough to crunch and taste while still getting the flavors of the ice cream. The mint is sweet and the ice cream, well, creamy! My husband ordered the vanilla bean with salted caramel sauce. This was one of the best vanillas that I've had. Vanilla and oh so creamy goodness with a pop of salted caramel to delight the mouth! Andy was gracious and friendly. He's worked there a year so I think that's a good sign. Right after we walked in he had a long line of customers and since it's quite a small space, we took our ice cream to a shady spot outside. There is a gender neutral restroom with a contactless soap dispenser ms hand dryer which is great for sticky ice. Team hands! We will definitely return!
Really delicious ice cream in the 29th st mall area. Quick and friendly service, and a couple tables and chairs in the front
Baby this is the spot! Come here for the most delicious vegan and dairy ice cream of your life! Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is relatively new to the Denver area and I've been curious about the buzz. It did not disappoint! All flavors are packed with yummy mix-ins. The person who helped us provided recommendations and let us sample many flavors before making a decision. There were chunks of berries, cheesecake, cookies, jelly swirls, chocolate chunks - all so tasty! The ice cream shop itself is super cute - it's all pink and pastel colored. You could definitely have a cute insta photo shoot inside. I really appreciated was the large selection of vegan ice cream and vegan toppings! Vegan ice cream is also kept in a separate freezer so there is no risk of contamination. All allergens are clearly marked and there is also gluten free vegan and dairy options. I will be back! I may even take a pint home next time!
I miss this place, wish their Earl Grey flavor was sold at Walmart too. Love their honeycomb candy topping. I love this company for all their experimental flavors . I wish they had more locations in the US cause this would be my fave ice cream shop to go to. Just a cute small shop, they have very little seating inside. Theres a grab n go fridge where you can purchase pint ice cream or ice cream sandwiches to take home too.
Best. Ice cream. Ever! I love the honeycomb flavor and want to get it again. The person serving me was really nice and recommended flavors for me to try since it was my first time at this chain. The interior is also super cute and pink - very eye catching.
Great ice cream! Earl grey was light and refreshing. Cookie n cream was thick and creamy. There's a few special flavors that you don't find elsewhere. Definitely worth the try!
I love van leeuwen! I normally visit the Denver location, but was eating nearby in Boulder and saw this from where I parked, so I made sure to leave some room after dinner. I always am tempted to get different flavors, but usually I go with the Affogato or praline cookie cake. However, today I opted for the brown sugar cookie dough (I think that was the name?) It was as delicious as always, and the girl working there was so sweet. Since it wasn't busy, we were able to hang around and sit at one of the little tables to enjoy our dessert. Prices are pretty standard of what you'd expect these days, about eight dollars for a scoop read more

Friendly staff, opportunities to try before making your selection, and the ever-wonderful problem of having so many flavors, including vegan options, well, that's a lot of wins. You'll pay around 8 dollars for a scoop, so be aware. I will certainly be back to try more, but first I will need to take out a small loan. On this visit we had the peanut butter brownie honeycomb and the pistachio. Both amazing! The guy behind the counter said "you should know the peanut butter brownie one tastes like a snickers". Ha! Joke's on him, that's my favorite candy bar. But thanks for the warning! He was cool. We talked about the previous night's Buffs game. They have pints to take home, and I may be obsessed with this Shirley temple float they advertise. There is limited seating inside but it was a warm night so that's what we did but guess what? It was not freezing in there. Nice touch! We spend a fair amount of time in Boulder so we will keep this place on our mental list when we feel like splurging. read more

Good ice cream store in Boulder. Also probably open the latest out of all of them? Besides this place I don't think any others are open until 10 pm on weekdays. We checked this store out and tried the black cherry chip, honey comb, pumpkin cheesecake, and blueberry short cake. The black cherry and blueberry short cake were awesome and would totally have those ones again. The other two flavors were decent but not mind blowing. The store was clean and had a cute atmosphere. I really liked the seating. We went on a Wednesday night around closing and the one person there was super nice and really helpful even though we were there late. I'm rating 4 stars because the flavors weren't amazing and I was expecting a lot since I keep seeing this name popping up everywhere as being an awesome ice cream shop. Also I think the prices are pretty expensive even for gourmet ice cream and in Boulder. I also feel like they had too many flavors and sometimes that's a good thing but I didn't feel that way here. Overall would maybe visit again if I happened to be on 28th street shopping or something and I really wanted ice cream, but besides that not sure if I would drive all the way over to get it. read more

I escaped the afternoon heat and stepped in Van Leeuwen, and I have no regrets. Tasting a variety of flavors unfortunately didn't help me narrow it down, as they were all delicious. But on recommendation of the friendly employee, I ended up choose passion fruit. Tart and sweet, with an interesting profile that made me realize pairing it with earl grey was an epic move. It's a great stop on any walk down 29th St. Mall in Boulder. It's a bit pricier than some of the competition, but it more than stacks up in the quality and service department, so I'll keep coming back for more. I do recommend tasting whichever ones intrigue you. There's not much seating, but I was able to score a spot to sit for an hour. Obviously the ice cream was consumed within minutes, but they have WiFi and a good atmosphere. Upbeat music but not overpowering as to drown a conversation. Already thinking of which flavors to mix next... read more

Cute little spot inside the mall. Ice creams only have a few ingredients and are so good. It's not too sweet and made with the perfect amount of flavor. I got the cookies and cream with earl grey. Earl grey tasted like a fruity pebbles ice cream, so yummy and creamy. Heard a guy down the street say this was the best waffle cone he's ever had. read more

We had the chance to visit Van Leeuwen on a Friday night and the whole vibe is fantastic. They have a really unique menu with tasty flavors. I tried the Brown Sugar Cookie Dough Chunk and the Honeycomb and I was super impressed by the quantity of "chunks" actually included in each scoop! My one complaint is the price point. A milkshake was $10 and a single scoop of ice cream was over $6. Considering both the quality and the price, there are other spots in Boulder I would go to first. All-in-all, this is a great spot if you're shopping the mall, eating dinner near by, or leaving the movies - I just wouldn't drive across town for a $10+ milkshake. read more
My first experience with Van Leeuwen was their truck in NYC. It's nice to have one in Boulder! Please note that your gps is going to take you to the wrong place. Mine tried to take me to Panera. It's actually across from Lululemon, between J.Jill and Altar'd State. Just be aware! The ice cream is delicious. My favorite is Honeycomb, but try their rotating specials too. The staff were very friendly despite having multiple parties in the store ordering. It wasn't crowded, but not desolate either! You can also buy pints here, which is a nice option to have! The interior is very cute and there's plenty of places to sit and eat outside so you can relax while you enjoy your ice cream. Yes, they're spendy, but we got a lot of ice cream for "two scoops"! read more
Please try their earl grey ice cream!!! Very smooth ice cream that you can taste the tea but not so overpowering. I also don't like ice creams with too much sweetness, so this did a great job at impressing me. They also have some fun flavors to try. read more

Oh my goodness -- this was honestly the best vegan ice cream I have ever had (and I have tried A LOT.) I'd never had Van Leeuwen ice cream but I've seen it sold in stores so I'm glad we got an actual one of the shops in Boulder!! The ice cream is unbelievably creamy and all the flavors I tasted were AMAZING! I went with the vegan strawberry shortcake and the vegan peanut butter brownie honeycomb and they were both INCREDIBLE (but the sicilian pistachio I tried was soooooo good too)!! The cone was also one of the yummiest cones I've ever had!!! BIG fan!! read more

I don't know if they started in New York or LA first but now we have one in Colorado. I was a bit apprehensive going here because as I'm sure you've seen on social media they have some wacky flavors (mac and cheese; grey poupon) and I feel like I would have been obligated to try lol and I was not looking forward to that haha. However all normal flavors here so talk about a breath of relief. Ice cream is rich and decadent. I opted for a cone cuz you just really can't beat an ice cream cone on a hot summer day; the two flavors I went with were pistachio and brown sugar cookie dough and they were tasty. That brown sugar was sooo good that all three of us that went together ended up getting it lol. I have to say I was very jealous of my friends sundae with fudge, honeycomb, and whipped cream. I'll definitely need to go back to try that because it looked AMMMMMAZING. And my other friend went with the cookie sandwich which get this: the cookie was vegan and it was one of the best cookies I've had, chewy and delicious....it's gotta be magic! And of course had to take some pints home for my boo and myself (and Hank) . Tried the hazelnut and there were massive ribbons of hazelnut fudge and it was heaven. Great new ice cream option in boulder! read more

I got a single scoop of the Raspberry Layer Cake ice cream. It was creamy and has just the right amount of cake chunks in the ice cream! The raspberry swirled into the vanilla ice cream gave it a good flavoring. However, a small single scoop of ice cream was $6.25 and a double scoop is $8.35. The price for a scoop of ice cream is crazy and unfortunately caused a 3 star review instead of a 4 star review. read more

Had the best time for a Yelp elite event visiting vanleeuwen ice cream Boulder. Wow the flavors I tried were all so good but ultimately I got the brown sugar cookie dough brownie ice cream and it did not disappoint. I ended up buying a pint of it as well because who doesn't love ice cream. The vibes in the store were so cute and I loved being in that area. I had never been before and will definitely be stopping by next time I'm in the area. read more
Really delicious ice cream! Since I've never tried spruce ice cream before, I decided to try the rocky mountain road. It was chocolatey and loaded with nuts and fluffy marshmallows - definitely would order again. I also sampled the black cherry chip and the raspberry layer cake and both were awesome. So yes, the ice cream is great... but it's super expensive! One scoop is $6.25 and is not quite enough. Two scoops are $8.35. That's kinda insane! I don't see myself running back to the ice cream shop when I can get their pints at the grocery store for the same price as a scoop. read more
