I had recently purchased a 1920's bungalow in Mission Hills that had been stripped of its original dining room built-in buffet. I found WIlliam Van Dusen Millworking in a San Diego Uptown News article about historic home restoration.
William brought a vintage catalogue of dining room built-in buffet designs from the Arts & Crafts period to flip through and create my ideal design. He drew from existing woodwork in my 1920s house, so that it would be cohesive within its surroundings. He also had me consider what I would be storing in the cabinets and drawers, so that he could size them accordingly, being mindful as much about aesthetics as function.
He was well-organized and efficient.
The final product is stunning and makes my living/dining room spectacular! I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. It was one of the first investments I made in my new old-house, and it made a huge impact! It brings so much charm back to the house!
I've hired him to do subsequent projects, and so have my neighbors. read more
