I came in today because the original place i looked up was closed. I had a phenomenal experience. I only needed my state inspection done but the customer service was great! As soon as I parked my car someone came up to me. (I thought they were getting a car near me or something at first) but instead he said hello and I let him know what I was getting. He took my care and insurance and was at it right away. I walked in to the lobby to wait, it was a very cute, clean, comfy place! The restrooms were clean, looked like a restroom at someone's house. There was no one at the desk, a different car service came and checked me out, and the porter brought my keys. All 3 of the men I interacted with were so polite! Car inspection was $25!

Upon completion of what's supposed to be a regular oil change, I learn they've increased their price for extra quarts by almost a full 100% and their price for initial bottle by almost 50% while increasing their price for general fluids by 25%, bringing my bill for a simple oil change to over $117! With no advance notice or postings of the increase in price! In addition, they tried to justify it by saying they have not increased prices in 4 years (as if raising rates by 50-100% from one visit to the next is a normal business practice)! This will be the last time I bring any of my five vehicles to this location and I highly recommend yall find another place as well! This place is definitely not what it used to be! Just in case you're looking, Richland Auto Care in Richland Hills on Blvd 26 gives great service at a reasonable price While respecting their customers..... they inform of prices and costs in advance of providing their service And do not try to take advantage of their customers just because they can! I regret not having gone there today!

It's amazing they lasted as long as they did. They were grossly incompetent and tried to add not-needed parts and services to the bill once they got your car apart. This is a bad shop, and after two plus incidents where they didn't fix the car and charged me a…read morewhole lot I've committed I'm not going back. The most recent episode was simply infuriating because they changed good parts, didn't fix the noise, and recommended seven repair actions the car does not need, and I didn't ask them to look at that in the first place. The car is GM and has 50,000 original miles on it. It's tight, and it's never been hit, and the wear on it looks like 50,000 miles. There was a bumping noise is the right strut which I still have. I drove it with the manager and he said he knew what it was. I get a call about four hours later that it needs a lower control arm. I was skeptical about that but I went over and looked at it, and let them replace it. That's when the "pick the chicken" procedure was unleashed on me. Their technician reports cracks in the belt, recommends fill and flush the brake fluid and power steering fluid, the cabin air filter, and he's telling me there's play in my tie rod ends. They have already disassembled the car, and he's trying to convince me they can't take it to the alignment shop with play in the tie rod ends. They were quite disappointed with me when I would not agree to as much as a dime more than we had talked about. When they told me they can't align it without new tie rod ends I told them just put it back together and I'll take care of the alignment. We don't change brake fluid or power steering fluid, period. My 1995 car still has it's original fluids in both of those systems. The serpentine belt on this car is in very good condition, and those things are known for living 100,000 miles. So what if there's cracks in it? The cabin air filter doesn't do anything to begin with, but it was changed a couple months back. It was very obvious to me this is an effort to gouge the gullible customer who doesn't know what's going on under the hood. I spent $400 on a lower control arm that didn't remedy my noise, and had to put up with this other song and dance about 10 things I did not ask them to look at. I really didn't appreciate the efforts to force me to buy more steering parts citing it can't be aligned if I don't. I got the car home and went over their recommended list and found everything normal for a 50,000 mile car. Particularly the engine belt - if there were cracks in it they are supposed to be there because inspecting it proves up this car does not need any such thing. I never asked them to check the car over or to go plundering through it looking for things to sell the customer. I asked them to remedy a noise, which they didn't, and they changed a good part with no trouble on it resulting in more labor actions to bring the car back into spec when it wasn't out of spec to begin with. This is the third time I've given this shop a chance and they charged me a lot and didn't fix anything. They are very prone to taking wild guesses when they don't know what to do and charging the customer for it. They charged me a whole lot to go into the engine on another car and it too came home with the same problem I took to them in the beginning. The handwriting is on the wall that I need to stay out of there. But, what roasts me the most is their attempt to oversell everything, and to see how many dollars they can extract from the gullible. There should be legal penalties for that and unfortunately there is none. Even though access to them is easy, they never fix anything, and I've got to remember better going forward. IF you replace a bunch of good parts the customer never knows that what was removed was in plenty good enough shape and didn't need anything. Cracks in the belt doesn't mean anything. Dirty brake fluid doesn't mean anything. I don't know what criteria is used to tell the customer they need to change the power steering fluid, but whatever it is I'm guaranteed is junk science. My other car is 25 years old with the same power steering fluid it was given at birth. This is a bunch of nice people, but their motivations, and their morals are all in the wrong place. It used to be a bunch of good technicians from Barbara's Texaco, but every one of those techs has left, and it's evident. Don't go there.

My first two encounters with this shop back in the winter of 2025 were good. The first time, a…read moreblond, kind mechanic did some troubleshooting due to a noise I was hearing but wasn't able to find anything, and didn't charge me. The second time, in December, my check-engine light went on due to the EGR system. I had had work done on this system before, so it was troublesome that the check-engine light was illuminating yet again. When I brought it to this shop, I was hoping to see the same mechanic who helped me before (Isaiah?). I didn't, but another mechanic did, a tall, dark-haired man who was also kind (Joel?). He replaced my EGR valve. The check-engine light stayed off for 2-3 months; then, it tripped again (not a commentary on "Joel's" work as I know the fuel/air intake can be an issue). So, I took it back to this NRH shop (7659 Blvd 26), hoping to see "Joel" again and see if he could remedy the problem, hopefully for minimal or no cost since I'd already paid $225 to have this repaired. Alas, "Joel" was not there. Nor was "Isaiah". Only one guy I'd seen before in my previous visits was still there; I assume he is the manager, perhaps the owner. All other personnel I didn't recognize, including a stocky guy in black sweatpants whom I'd never seen before. The "manager" and a very young man, perhaps his son, told me to come back the next day because the "main" mechanic (I assumed "Joel") was out sick but would be back tomorrow. The "manager" told me to bring my receipt; I don't mind that, but with the work having been done recently, in December, couldn't they verify it via their computer system? I showed up the following day, receipt in hand, and showed it to the "manager". He went in the shop to talk to the "stocky guy" and returned a few minutes later, stating that the part that was installed was defective and that he'd just charge me for labor. What I'm wondering is how he was able to determine that the part was defective so quickly if that was really the case. Things didn't add up in this and subsequent situations. On 02-28-2026, I wish I'd never handed over my keys, that's for sure. Sitting in the waiting room for 90 minutes or so, seeing more customers come in one after another, gave me time to think. "Isaiah" is gone. "Joel" is gone. All new people. They said their "main" mechanic would be here today, but he's not. No computerized system of tracking receipts/work. I really doubt that EGR valve is defective. I started to have a really, REALLY ... REALLY BAD FEELING. It was one of those kinds of 6th-sense feelings that you should NEVER ignore. So, I got the ball rolling ... With some resistance, I was able to get my car back. I also had to ASK for my receipt. That was another red flag. Anyway, as soon as I left, something was blatantly not right. At first, I thought, "Oh it's just me." I had to push the brake pedal really hard to get my vehicle to come to a ROLLING stop, not an on-demand stop. It wouldn't do the latter at all. So I drove it around this strip-mall parking lot for a bit. There was no way I was going back to that stocky guy and risk more damage. I managed to get on the highway, but the problem was becoming more difficult to manage in busy traffic. I exited as soon as I could. I took it to a Discount Tire out of not knowing where to take it because I'd been a customer of theirs in the past. Well, THAT didn't do me any good! Then I saw Mavis across the street had "brakes" on their sign, so I took it there. At Mavis, two up and coming mechanics came out, to help me, James & Mustafa. Colton assisted as well. I popped the hood. Lo & behold, a Wal-mart plastic shopping bag was deliberately stuck and clamped down between the air filter and the intake duct. Then James found that my nearby brake line had been disconnected and that a pair of channel locks were still lying near one of my hood-locks, under the hood during my unexpected trip to Mavis. That explains why that hood-lock now sits incorrectly above the hood and the hood lock pin is broken. Gee, thanks Stocky! All of this to say this: I think what's going on here is the "manager" of this 7659 NRH Auto shop on Blvd 26 is probably either not paying his qualified mechanics enough and/or not giving them enough time off (They're open everyday, not that that matters unless you want to increase your auto repairs and waste your precious time.) To deal with not enough mechanics, he brings in a willing party ("Stocky") who is obviously not qualified (ASE certified). So, James and Mustafa got me safely back on the road, and Colton helped smooth out the rough spots in my shaken-up state upon seeing the damage done. It became apparent that when James and Mustafa were taking off the Wal-mart bag, that Stocky had already damaged the edge of the intake duct. So, Stocky has costed me $30 for a new intake duct and $100 for the broken hood lock, not to mention wasted time and the frustration with a business/persons that lie.
