Value Max was recommended to me by a neighbor and after receiving quotes from over a dozen contractors, we decided to work with Dennis and Jose for their clear professionalism and dedication to their craft. I cannot say enough good things about the team- they were consistent, thorough and extremely amenable and easy to work with. They came in and did our demo, leveled and installed our tile flooring, all drywall and mudding, ran new plumbing, electrical and gas lines, painted, installed backsplash (impeccably might I add), our gas range hood, and installed all our appliances. While we did outsource the slab and cabinet installation- the team made it extremely easy to work with several contractors, and in many instances even managed them on our behalf as if they brought them in themselves which I was extremely grateful for. Cannot say enough good things about Jose, Dennis and the team. Would recommend to anyone as a kind, honest, and skilled contractor is hard to find. read more

Beautiful kitchen remodel by Value Max Quality Builders We are so very happy with our kitchen remodel by Value Max Quality Builders. They delivered quality work. The entire team was a pleasure to work with. They were very efficient and coordinated. Dennis listened very carefully to our needs and provided knowledgeable guidance throughout the project. He knew where to find the look we wanted and was able to do that staying within a budget that we could manage, which was very important to us. He kept us informed every step of the way and he promptly answered questions and concerns. He was on site every day to make sure things were going as they should. Jose on his team was excellent as well. He made sure everything was just as it should be with quality work and upgrading everything to code. The rest of the team were all very nice caring men as well. The project was completed in less time than estimated and we are so very happy with the results. We definitely would use them again. read more

This is my second review of Value Max, as we engaged with them for a second large scale project recently. Dennis and his team remodeled our kitchen a few years ago (see my previous review) and did a stellar job, so we hired them to do two bathrooms plus a little more of our home. We are thrilled with their work and continue to refer them to friends who are considering renovations. It would be impossible to recommend them more highly. Quality, reliability, and accountability were the most important factors in our selection of contractors. Dennis and his team deliver all three over and over. All of their work feels sturdy- no shortcuts. If anything is even slightly off or unsatisfactory, Dennis wants it fixed as much as the client. And it WILL BE FIXED! Dennis is available seemingly 24/7 and will hunt down an answer and/or a solution almost immediately. The team showed up at 8am every day ready to work. All team members were friendly, hard working, and trustworthy- three qualities you want for anyone in your house for a few months! Similar to our kitchen project, Dennis was a perfectionist with our bathrooms and indulged our perfectionism as the client. Given the cost and time you will invest in a remodel, you will want things perfect- and so will Dennis. The only thing that seemingly bothers him is if he knows you are not 100% happy. If you are considering a remodel and are holding back because you are worried about finding a good contractor, worry no more. Value Max is the way to go- your house will thank you! :) read more

The guys at Quality Max Builders are great. I've used them 3 times. Dennis, the owner can handle any job, along with his perfectly trained staff. He's really good about handling projects right away. Or scheduling when it's convenient for me. I had horribly(understatement) pet stained wood floor. But the staining was only right in front of the door. The other two thirds of the floor was perfectly fine. . 2 other places told me i'd have to pull everything up and replace the whole floor. . Dennis gave me a great price to refinish them. His guys did such an awesome job. It was actually astonishing how good the floor looked. The color was so perfectly blended you couldn't tell there was ever a problem. Even Dennis's floor guy wasn't sure how good he'd be able to get it. But he was able to blend the color to match the rest of the floor so perfectly and it only took one day! And the price was very reasonable. I got all my renters deposit back because my landlord had no idea how bad the floors were! Dennis also installed an oven for me and reconfigured the cabinet to fit the new larger oven. Dennis is very hands on, even when he's not actually at the job. He always checks in if he's not there to make sure his guys are prompt(which they are) and doing everything they're supposed to. Calls after to make sure everything was perfect. Couldn't recommend them highly enough. read more

Value Max - Before and after shots of my severely pet stained wood floors expertly refinished by Value Max Quality Builders! - General Contractors Near Me - Los Angeles, California

Wow I don't even know how to start with this. I'm so happy with the finished work - I can't say enough good things about Value Max Quality Builders. Before starting the project I was imagining and dreading all of the horror stories that you hear from other homeowners about all of the things that could and did go wrong with their home remodel. I couldn't have been more wrong and was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed working with Dennis McCarthy and his team at Value Max Quality Builders. 1. Design - When we were first toying with the idea of remodeling our house, my wife and I had met with a designer from a different firm - who wasn't really listening to us at all. He kept trying to get us to add more square footage and a second story - none of which were even on our needs list. He just kept insisting that if we gave him X amount of money that he would "make it look nice" - without going into any detail of what he was going to do. The experience almost put us off from remodeling at all. THANKFULLY Dennis put us in contact with his designer - Ron Tremblay. Ron met with us and really listened to all of the things we loved and hated about our house, and the things that were important for us to change. We fell in love with him at our first meeting. He was wonderful to work with and he offered up useful design suggestions that both enhanced the ideas that we had as well as gave us new ideas we hadn't thought of. Ron helped handhold us through selecting materials and appliances - and helped put us in contact with vendors that had quality materials at affordable prices. 2. Budget - We had a tight budget. We had an initial consultation to run through the scope of the work that needed to be done and what the costs would be. We had budget limitations in that we could not go over a set amount. Tom was very helpful meeting with us multiple times, and really working with us and offering us suggestions on how we could get some of the costs to a level that fit within our budget - and made several revisions to the schedule of values to get it to within the budget. 3. Communication - Dennis the owner was very hands-on in every aspect of the project and he spoke with me every day. If I had to leave a message, I got a call back within the same day. If there was something unexpected that came up, he always checked with me ahead of time, and got my approval for any extra charges before moving ahead with the work - which is rare in his industry. 4. Workers - The men were very professional, courteous (especially with our neighbors), and highly skilled. The jobsite was cleaned up every night. Miguel the foreman was a pleasure to work with. 5. Quality - Wow - I would say let the work speak for itself, but the pictures I'm attaching don't do justice to the quality of work that Value Max has done. Everything looks like we paid way more than we actually did. And Scott made us a custom kitchen table and storage benches that look great and fit our kitchen space perfectly. 6. Timeframe - Even with some surprises that came up during the project, they finished AHEAD of schedule - which again is rare in his industry. 7. Trust - There were many opportunities they could have taken to really hose us when we were in a jam, but Dennis was always fair, honest, and transparent with us about the work involved and the costs. I would HIGHLY recommend Value Max Quality Builders if you're looking to deal with an honest contractor. read more

Dennis and his team at Value Max were a pleasure to work with. They arrived each day promptly, worked steadily and cleaned up neatly at the day's end. Our project (bathroom renovation and new flooring in bedroom) was completely on time and the workmanship was stellar. We were very happy with the results. read more

I called Value Max to fix my side yard. I wanted to tear out the asphalt (which was buckled and cracked from tree roots), level it and put in some pavers. The guy from Value Max, Tony, was great. He took the time to answer all my questions and offer some different options to keep the cost down. He even gave me a catalogue of pavers to review with my wife. He was a very professional and personable. The reason I'm giving 5 stars is he was so much better than the second contractor we had out to do a bid. Value Max was better in so many areas; on time, professional, personable, cared more and offered a better price. It's hard to find a good, trustworthy contractor. Value Max is one of the few I would trust to work on my house. read more

Dennis and the crew at Value Max are great. In an effort to be more drought friendly, my wife and I recently had our side yards re landscaped. We had a very in depth discussion about the work to be done, materials used, time and cost. It was the most thorough conversation I've ever had with a contractor. They made good suggestions about drip watering systems, drainage issues with pavers and plant selection. I'm giving them five stars for 5 reasons; - they did what they said they were going to do (I've had many "surprises" with other contractors) - they finished on time - they finished on budget - they cleaned up the work space daily! (rare in the construction world). Despite needing to put piles of gravel and pavers on our driveway, they always left enough space for my wife to get her car in the garage. I parked on the street of course...funny how that works... - the yard looks great! Mission accomplished! read more

Would not recommend do to overpricing then, not standing behind their work. I used this company for contract work 4 years ago, I later had an issue they needed to address. I contacted Dennis for this issue, and he never got back to me either way. Not professional when they do not get back to customer. read more

If I could give 10 stars I would. After almost a year of searching for a contractor to renovate 2 bathrooms, we met Tom and Dennis, owners of Value Max Quality Builders. They were the most professional of anyone we had previously met so we felt very confident about our choice. Tom prepared a detailed bid so we went into the project knowing the cost of the job and extent of the labor. As expected, we ran into a few problems that weren't visible until demolition, but Dennis was in constant contact and we always knew exactly what needed to be done and what the additional work would cost. We had no unpleasant surprises on our final bill. Although nobody was living in the condo while the work was being done, the crew always cleaned up at the end of the day. The part of the unit that wasn't under renovation was completely sealed off to cut down on dust and debris from the work. We were so happy with the job that we decided to extend the project to include the installation of new flooring in two bedrooms and a hallway. The crew worked around everything in the bedrooms and closets, never asking us to move a thing. We were overwhelmed with all of the decisions, however Tom and Dennis introduced us to Ron Tremblay of Ron Tremblay Design. He was an immense help. Ron took us shopping for everything we needed - cabinets, flooring, light fixtures, faucets, even towel hooks and bars. His ideas were very much in line with what we wanted and we wouldn't have been able to make this project happen without his help. Thanks to Dennis and Tom our condo looks beautiful. We highly recommend Value Max and will definitely use them again. read more

I just finished remodeling my condo, and was referred to Value Max by my designer, Ron Tremblay. Dennis made the process as easy as possible, and was great about communicating with me every step of the process. I heard from him through texts or phone calls, at least once a day. There were no surprises, and we worked together on all decisions with Ron. His team of guys was always respectful, and courteous, and cleaned up the worksite at the end of the day. Even better, my project was completed on schedule, and there were no unexpected costs at the end. I have already recommended Value Max to other friends, and would not hesitate hiring them again for any future projects. read more

The best thing I can say about Dennis McCarthy and his partner Tom Rodgers at Value Max is that they are conscientious, responsible, hard-working and very honorable. It's been about 5 months since my remodel was complete, but there are always a few punch list items and I am the one who has been dragging my feet on those. Dennis has actually been the one following up with ME to get those items complete. Typically, the homeowner is chasing the contractor not the other way around. Dennis is a kind and caring individual and genuinely wants to do the best job for the client. His crew, which have all been with him for many years, are equally kind and, as one of his team likes to say, "There are no problems, only solutions." This is really the motto of the whole operation. We have been very pleased with the quality of the remodel/construction. Dennis has been very straightforward and honest throughout the process. He has found ways to save me some money along the way (particularly with the windows and doors which can be quite expensive). He also keeps the process moving along so that the construction is completed as efficiently as possible. I can't recommend them highly enough and I also know that if I need any help with the house in the future, big or small, Dennis and Tom will be there for me. read more

Dennis is a gem! We met him through a friend who built her entire new house under his lead and she highly recommended him. She was so right! We cannot be happier with the process and the results of remodeling our new house. We bought a house and needed to make some changes before moving in. In only 3 weeks he did a wonderful, wonderful job! Dennis and his team are very kind, reliable, hands-on and knowledgeable. Problem-solving and detail oriented, he makes the whole process enjoyable. He is available 24/7 and will hunt down an answer and/or a solution almost immediately. Also, we had a tight budget and Dennis was always on our side making the most out of it and fixing some additional little things without charging extra and with the best attitude. It made such a difference for us to have him on board! It would be impossible to recommend him more highly. read more

These guys are first-class. I am overwhelmed to how amazing they are and just the overall quality of how they do their work. Dennis treats you with respect, listens to your needs, and makes the process of renovation just so much easier. My renovation was peanuts to him, and he treated me as if I was spending big bucks renovating the entire home. They finished on time, and on budget, never misleading me or upcharging me. Thank you, Dennis for your attentiveness and (now) friendship! read more

Dennis and his company have done many jobs for me over the years. I appreciate his honesty and extreme work ethic to deliver my jobs on time and on budget! They have worked on over $10,000 worth of work for me and I have always felt the value in spending my money with them. I highly recommend this company. read more

Our whole project was just a "wow!" That was due to Dennis McCarthy and his standards of quality. He provided detailed supervision, was here every day making sure we were on budget, on schedule and on track to meet our final deadline. In fact, they finished a week early! Unheard of in the contracting business, right? To top it off, there were no hidden charges. The best recommendation, I think, is recommendation. I've already told two of my friends to use Value Max. You should too. read more

I would recommend Value Max to anyone who has any construction/renovation work to do at their home--they are wonderful! Tom and Dennis and their team recently put together a storage shed for me in my backyard (it looks like a shingled cottage), and a couple of years ago, they created a "man cave" in my garage. They come to work when they say they will come, they finish the job when they say they will finish it, and they do excellent work at reasonable prices! What else could anyone want? It is a pleasure working with Value Max--A++ recommendation! read more

I have had many people work on my home-- always anxiety and upset associated with it. This time it was different thanks to Dennis and his team. They are reliable, professional, and aim to please. They do what they say. Met deadlines. Honest and decent, and open to my suggestions and concerns. SO easy to deal with. Highly recommend! read more

Today Dennis and his crew finished up the total renovation of my house. I had the interior and exterior primed and painted, a new electrical panel, new roof, new heat, insulation, floors installed and/or refinished, and major renovations made to my 1947 kitchen. I cannot praise the Value Max team highly enough! They worked tirelessly to do everything to my standards. The subcontractors also were perfectionists. And they held closely to their bid, despite my many additions. I will truly miss having them here every day. read more

Dennis is great! we just had him replace a vertical beam that had wood-rot, a small job. Dennis came over ahead of the job, climbed around our attic to check the engineering. His crew were professional, they even shaved down an interior door that stuck on our new carpet. I can't recommend him enough. You can stop looking for other companies. read more

Dennis and his crew are awesome! We've employed dozens and dozens of contractors on remodeling jobs over the last 15 years. None were as competent and professional as these guys.
