This remodel was bigger than the first job. It wasn't easy because there were many funny little issues in addition to the significant problems needing to be fixed. From the start, they made sure to go over every single detail and explain what each choice would mean. We weren't the easiest clients this time around because we changed our minds so many times, but it was never a problem. They were kind and patient throughout, and always had good workarounds for every issue, just like with the project 11 years ago. The job just concluded last week, and the work is top notch. Oren Yona and his team of professionals from Eden Builders delivered the best remodeling work in my 35 years of living in Los Angeles. In that time, my wife and I have had 4 other big construction projects at our home. This time we were converting a 600 SF outbuilding into an ADU. All my contractor experiences were good. Solid people. Solid work. But Oren was the best in every category by far. They work incredibly quickly and the work is always of the highest quality. His prices are very fair and I found almost always below what I have ever paid for work in Santa Monica. My job was not a simple one - there was much fine detail in going for a unique contemporary craftsman look. I was very happy in our experience with Alex and his team. This was our first time having a remodel done in the house. I have always wanted to redo our old 60's style bathroom that had been given the landlord special. Its the main bathroom and the only one not updated. It has been a year since we started working with Eden Builders. We talked to a few contractors and went with Eden Builders because we had a great first impression of Oren, our main point of contact for the project. He was the only one who offered to talk to us in-person rather than over a quick phone call. He was detailed-oriented, honest, and always quick to respond to our questions and concerns. Eden Builders helped design our 1000 sq. ft ADU, and it was a quick and easy process. The longest part was getting the approval from the city to start building the ADU. Once we got the green light in March, Eden Builders were able to complete the whole project in about 4.5 months, which was pretty amazing in my opinion! This project has been mostly smooth sailing. There were a few hiccups here and there, but mostly due to LADWP and the city, so Eden Builders had no control over those matters. I also appreciate the hard work that Henry and his crew put into the project. They worked long hours, and sometimes even on the weekends to get this project done. We worked with Oren as our contractor from Eden Builders. We just finished adding a 500 square foot addition which included a new primary bedroom and bathroom, and he also remodeled our laundry room and an additional bathroom. We hired Oren not only because of reviews (which I read thoroughly) but because he seemed very engaged during our first meetings when he came for the consultation. We couldn't envision how to do the addition, and he made actual suggestions the first day he came (which we took!) about how to best utilize the space/create the addition. He put together a detailed proposal for us very quickly, within 24 hours. The other contractors/designers were much more general in their discussions, and wanted us to sign with them before we even knew what we would be signing up for. We liked that we had something very specific to consider after meeting with Oren. Regarding the price, I would say it was in the ballpark of the others, but know that nothing about this process is cheap. It was all much more expensive than what you think it will be, especially with supply chain shortages. But, you are getting what you pay for and Oren was always very clear about costs up front when we wanted to add something here or there, or upgrade something, which is easy to want to do! He was very professional and always made sure the choices were clear, and agreements were in writing. You should also know this is a large team, not just one or two guys. So they move fast! Once they got started on the new addition, it was like a barn raising! All hands on deck! So be sure to have everything ready to go (i.e. materials picked out) so things run smoothly and without delays. Overall, communication was great. Oren was readily available by text/phone/email. I appreciate Oren's help, patience, responsiveness and guidance. Shout out to Henry and crew and Emerson too! Everyone was very professional and courteous throughout the process. Also, getting through the permit process which I hear can be godawful was completely smooth sailing! Our city (Burbank) can be notoriously nit picky. We could not have a more positive experience with our contractor, Oren, and his amazing team at Eden Builders. We had the brilliant idea of building an addition to the house and doing some renovations on the facade in the middle of Covid - right when everyone else wanted to work on their houses as well! - and expected major delays and frustrations. Oren went above and beyond from the get-go. We met with several other contractors, but was blown away by the recommendations we got from his former clients and decided to go with Eden. First, we met with his architect and fussed with the roofing design until it looked like what we had envisioned in our heads. Not once did he complain! He wanted us to get exactly what we wished for. His timelines were honest; every deliverable was done when he said they would be done. If there were delays, they were out of his control - the city needing longer to make approvals, custom window lead times being pushed out by manufacturers. Oren was always the reason we could stay on target, both in budget and in timing!! Every single phase of the construction entailed complex details we hadn't thought of, but Oren made it easy. When we had a question, he'd stop by and sit down with us, walk us through everything. We were never left in the dark about any upcoming challenges or potential issues. He never skimped either. We recently had the pleasure of working with Oren Yona and his team at Eden Builders for our home expansion and remodeling project and we are so happy with the results. From early in the process, Oren was professional and responsive - and we had A LOT of questions as this was our first experience remodeling. We recently completed a remodel of our first floor and kitchen. Oren and his team were very professional, responsive and genuinely cared about every decision and detail. The team removed 5 walls, and installed 3 large beams, creating an open concept design in our home. We also installed all new flooring, recess lighting (throughout the entire house) and a large multi-slide door. The team was here everyday and took just over 3 months from start to finish. We felt like we were prioritized the entire time. We used the existing cabinets and their carpenter managed to match our island cabinets exactly to the originals. The stone fabricator was incredible and we continue to get complements on their workmanship. Unlike many contractors out there, Oren is an engineer by trade. This helped reduce costs in subcontracting out to an architect and also expedited the plan approval process. He knew exactly what needed to happen to our home and did not cut any corners. We just finished a remodel of our primary bedroom and bathroom, adding ~200 sq ft by expanding the bath & bedroom and adding a walk in closet. The work was nothing short of incredible! Fast and efficient. I was surprised when when we finished in less than 3 months when other companies were quoting us at least 4-6 months. Even with the approvals from the city on permit, then entire process never felt like it was held up! Their prices were comparable to other vendors that we received quotes from, and more than that they were transparent about the costs and what went into everything in the quote. Other vendors were very vague or required a $10K deposit for "design" before even offering quote on the work. We worked closely with Oren throughout the entire process. From quote to finished product. He was extremely responsive and always ready to provide any guidance for me as my husband and I are new homeowners. The working team was also extremely professional, kind and very trustworthy (shout out to Henry who was always ready to answer any questions I had!). We were living at the house during the construction and the team was incredibly respectful of that. In addition to the main construction going on, we also had the team install shelving in our laundry closet, and added in some decorative arches to parts of the home. Again, always respectful of our living area and always cleaned up each day. They were even friendly and respectful of our 50 lb poodle who loved to come by and say hi every morning. Since our house was built in the 1950s we definitely plan on doing additional fixes throughout the time living here and would more than consider having Eden Builders as our go-to contractor in the future! read more

This is one of those times when the rating system needs a bit more nuance... Eden Builders and Alex did a seriously good job with our kitchen remodel. We did the work at the height of the supply chain problems and even had to complete the job while we were living out of state on a work project. Alex and his team did great, professional work and we are very, very happy with the kitchen and the way it looks and functions. He was by far the best contractor we've worked with, over 30 years and in several states on multiple homes. Eden was not the cheapest quote we got, nor the most expensive. It just made the most sense. The cost mostly held firm, but there was a bit of contractor "change order" madness (I'd deduct half a star for that, if I could.) The other caveat was that I had provided drawings for the bid, but most of the cabinetry was missed in the initial bid. We didn't realize that until after we accepted the contract, which pretty much blew our budget. I was also a bit frustrated that the drawings I provided weren't taken seriously - Alex said several times he wasn't sure that I meant what I drew. As someone who designs and executes scenery for a living, I found that a bit upsetting. Those relatively small quibbles aside, the work stayed on schedule, even with the twists and turns of Post-Covid. We could trust Alex and his team to do their very good work on their own, even to the point of letting them finish the last month on their own while we were out of town - and that's a lot of trust!! Most importantly, it turned out lovely. Alex has also been great dealing with any (minimal) issues that have popped up with their work. He's also been very helpful with other issues around the house that didn't relate to his work. I would work with them again, should we ever brave another round of remodeling. read more

The project manager we met with, Oren Yona, spent the most time with us during the initial meet compared to other companies. He asked a ton of questions to really get a sense of what we were looking for. Oren did not take a salesman type approach like some of the others we met with, but he sold us with his matter-of-fact demeanor, intelligent questions, and overall trustworthy vibe. He got a very detailed proposal back to us outlining the expenses, timeline, and pay schedule, and we signed on. Construction began right around the start of the pandemic, meaning we ended up working from home and were able to watch the entire ADU project from demolition to finish. Every single crew member was super hard working and competent, and they work long hours to really stick to the deadline. (Any delays had to do with the city or with products I ordered that were held up in shipping.) Our foreman, construction crew, electrician, plumber, and cabinet maker were all super pleasant to work with. Oren really stayed on top of the project, making sure to keep the team on schedule, and me also since I had to make a million decisions along the way! I don't think he sleeps because he's emailing at all times. I'm very grateful they were so patient with all our questions and some of the inevitable last-minute changes and add-ons. Since we were so happy working with Eden Builders, we asked them to stay on for a second project and remodel the kitchen in the main house when they were done with the ADU, parking pad, and fence. This was a complete gut job where they replaced everything, including the old electrical wiring, floors, and sink above the window. (They had a ton to fix.) Our kitchen turned out GREAT! We got the modern retro vibe we were going for and love how our customizations came out: Narrow broom closet with power outlet for our Dyson floor vac, narrow shelves above our shutters for Funko Pops, garden window for our cats to sun in, usable corner cabinets, pull-out cabinet for waste and recycle bins, coffee maker/mugs cabinet with pocket doors, hidden cat litter cabinet with cat entry near the back door. Well, I now have a new BEAUTIFUL totally renovated kitchen thanks to MAGNIFICENT, always on time, keeps me informed , highly patient Roy Litman, Eden Builders General Contractor. I have to say it took a long while however, Roy was ALWAYS responsive and forthcoming to answer any question, help in so so many ways, guide the project, and willingly work to correct any deficits. Honestly, I did not want to give him the final check because then there would be no more so count-on-able Roy. I sent him an email saying "Roy, I AM SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO HAPPY I WENT WITH YOU AND YOUR COMPANY. I love my kitchen and the attention you gave and give. Did I say how VERY VERY Happy I am to work with YOU. " A particular shout out to the fabulous skiller painter, Jesse, also with enormous patience while I studied, at least 45 shades of gray, for the 2 walls. Another big shout out to the counter fabricator, Andy and the plumber, Milton and helpers, and even the quiet electrician. All made the project come together. Cabinet maker Greg was very good too. He envisioned what I wanted and made it for me. He was also willing to return to fix what wasn't correct. Price of project was resonable and lower than another company from who I got a bid and who told me they could not give me what I wanted. When Roy came to look at my kitchen he had good ideas and I really immedicately felt a confidence and trust in him. That continued throughout the entire project. Now that I have the kitchen I so wanted, I will miss Roy. I hope to be able to renovate my master bath in the not far future and OF COURSE, I will hire Eden Builders, Roy Litman, and his crew to do the reno. I had no intentions of leaving a review. After working with this company 3 years ago, I had my kitchen and master bathroom remodeled. I'm leaving this review now because I've had many people ask if I know of any contractors for remodeling and I wouldn't want them to stumble across this one. My kitchen remodel is horrible. My cabinets were constructed out of cheap plywood. My counter top that Ron spoke highly of has chipped and cracked. They puttied a makeshift wooden beam and the putty has fallen apart. My kitchen cabinets has broken. It's only been 3 years. I wish I had a better outcome. Nobody wants to spend their hard earned money on a kitchen that doesn't have to quality to last atleast 10-20 years. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone, I don't care how many years they've been in business. My remodel should have lasted longer than 3 years. read more

We recently used Eden Builders to remodel our very old kitchen, put in new flooring and paint the while interior of our newly bought home. We cannot say enough positive things about our experience working with them. They were fantastic! Where do I start! I found Eden Builders on Yelp and decided to give them a call after reading so many nice and heartfelt customer reviews. Roy came by to give an estimate for the house remodel that involved full kitchen, three baths, flooring throughout the house, interior doors, ect. After talking to him I knew that I didn't want to work with anybody else. His pricing was right on the money. He estimated 4 months for the project to be completed and was actually 99% completed at 3.5 months. Pedro and his team were very professional and respectful of our space since 4 adults were living in the house while the construction was going on. We recently finished our 1st renovation project choosing Eden Builders and had Alex as our contractor. We met with him (and several other companies) and ultimately chose him based off his honestly, very thorough communication and referrals. For the job we did brand new cabinets, countertops, backsplash, appliances, lighting in our kitchen and new flooring across the whole first floor of our home. Alex had a clear and well articulated plan, documenting every necessary exchange and decision with a paper trail and re-confirmation as needed. He and his team were on time, respectful of my family in the house and attentive to any item that we brought up. We were concerned with the budget, but Alex had taken a very REAL approach to his estimate and all additions were either unavoidable or changes made by my wife and I along the way. We had a couple issues with delayed materials (flooring!!!) and appliances, and Alex was always accommodating. Most importantly, the quality of the work was great and I have no doubt, given they provide warranties for their work, that should any item pop up they would be just as attentive and great as we found them to be every step of the way. Do not do a renovation without Eden Builders! When we decided to add a primary bedroom, hallway and renovate a bathroom, we interviewed several contractors. Immediately we saw the difference when we met Oren - he was by far the most experienced, buttoned-up and genuine. I'm a type-A, list maker and was looking for that same kind of organization in whomever we entrusted with our big budget project. Oren delivered across the board. Oren and his team held our hand throughout the entire process, were patient with my numerous questions and delivered on our specific asks to ensure the project was as we'd envisioned. Additionally, as we were living in the house throughout the project, he found solutions to help make the process as least intrusive as possible while still finishing on time. And like many renovations of old houses (ours built in 1939), we came across unexpected issues (e.g. outdated electrical and HVAC). He provided the facts and choices thoroughly and quickly, and helped us find solutions that worked for us. We have just completed a major house renovation (a two-story addition which included demo'ing existing garage) with Eden Builders and could not be happier with the results. Out of the three contractors we narrowed our search to, Oren's bid was the most comprehensive and least expensive. Do yourself a favor and choose someone who is trustworthy and you will not be disappointed. If you have a large job ahead of you, get Eden Builders to bid on it. Eden did excellent work on a major project in 2021 that included: reroofing my house, exterior painting, exterior repairs and upgrades, rebuilding the house's large bedroom, and painting and reflooring the hallway. Along the way, Eden crews also repaired or installed a number of unrelated items I'd left hanging for months. I'll have more work on the house for Eden to do later this year or early next year. But it feels like a substantially new house with this project Eden already completed. The reroofing required installation of a brighter, upgraded skylight and repair of the existing skylight frame. The exterior work included retrofitting the existing windows frames with new, energy-efficient windows. The bedroom rebuild created a large, light, open, hard floored space out of what had been a large but cramped, dark, carpeted "lair." I enjoyed working with Eden. All crew members were professional, friendly, and helpful. The project manager, Alex, was especially reassuring, candidly, thoroughly, and patiently explaining everything and answering my many questions. Alex kept things moving and responded quickly to questions and contingencies. My little boy (with his own questions) grew very fond of Alex and still suggests I call Alex when anything malfunctions--even his toys. read more

We used Eden Builders for an extensive remodeling for our 1950 house with new addition and demolition. We contacted and reviewed a couple of contractors, some with very high review on the internet as well. And Oren definitely win us over all the other builders. At our first meeting, he spend a long time listening to our needs and explaining everything to us clearly. He measured everything in our house and start giving us real suggestions. We can tell that Oren is very passionate about what he is doing and always stay on top of everything. After we decided to go with Eden Builders, we are very impressed with their professionalism. It took us a few months for the city to approve all the plans. But meanwhile, Oren will always let us know where things are. He was great in helping us to select the main materials that will both meet my style yet within our budget. He always explain to me clearly and in detail. We were quoted for 4 months, from start of construction to finish. All demolition was done in a week, and we can see the shape of the new addition within a month! And before the four months mark, everything is done! (We did add things on the way as well) We are very impressed with the work that Oren and Pedro(the foreman) did. Pedro and his team came early in the morning, and stay for a whole day till 6:30pm. There is always workers in our house working, even during lunch time. They even work on Saturday(whole day!) as well. All the workers are very nice and friendly. They always greet and smile at you. And they got the work done in a very timely fashion. We are quoted for 4 months, and we got our house back within 4 months!! Another thing we noticed is how reachable Oren is, either through phone/SMS/email. He is great in answering my text or emails. And he doesn't mind to answer all my questions and concern, no matter how small they are. And that gives me a great peace of mind. We are very pleased of the quality and the professionalism of their work. And we are very glad that we pick a reliable and honest contractor. We all heard horrible stories about contractors from our friends and families. I am so glad that to be the one to tell them a truly wonderful story about remodeling!!
