Update from my earlier review. Within 24 hours of posting my review a representative of Value Blinds called me. I explained my problem, and was told to look at Youtube videos. However nothing came close to my situation. So, I called them back and I was told they would contact the installer, who would reach out to me. It's been approximately a week since that conversation. No one has called me yet. Since installation, my swing out windows (for cleaning) can no longer swing out. If a window had to be cleaned or replaced, the blinds have to be ripped out. read more

There are some old reviews on here so I figured I would write a new one. I as you probably do also, put value in the review. We used frank twice. I will admit the first time I was hesitant. I read some of the reviews and didn't want to risk it. My neighbor used Frank and was very happy. So we called him for a quote. We got quotes from Home Depot, next day blinds, Costco and frank for shutters and black out blinds for the kids rooms. Nobody came close to his price. You do have to wait for custom shutters and blinds. It isn't next day blinds. The window coverings arrived and were professionally installed. Perfect fit. We had them installed over a year ago. Never any issues. We recently moved and had him come out for a couple rooms in the new house. Again no issues. Excellent follow up. Frank will spend as much time as you need going over the options, leaving samples and talking you through the process. There is no reason to go with anyone else. The choice of options, the quality of the product, the follow up by Frank and the knowledge is amazing. I recommend them hands down. read more

This place was recommended by one of our neighbors. We have been very happy with our experience working with Frank, the owner. He was responsive and personally came out to do all the measurements for the windows. It may seem trivial but his is 30 years of experience helps. He spent a lot of time going from room to room. I really did not get another quoteand while he might not be the least expensive, his customer service in follow-up are well worth it if there are any problems. Installation per window was $20 but well worth it because of the new construction and type of treatment that we chose. There had to be a lot of fine-tuning in relation to how the windows were installed to make sure the blinds worked properly. read more

I sent a text on Saturday she said she would be in contact. I sent a second text yesterday (Tuesday 5/19) and haven't heard back as of Wednesday (5/20). Although I am just doing my basement (4 windows) for now there was potential for a lot of work as we want to replace blinds with cordless roman shades in our sunroom (9 windows), living room (4windows) and bedroom (4windows) as well. We recently ordered blinds for our new home from VD and HD Inc. . The purchase and installation process went extremely well and we were pleased with the product. There was one minor flaw in the vertical blinds for our slider which I reported to the office and I was assured that it would be taken care of by the manufacturer in short order. During this conversation I inquired about a possible change to the open/closing mechanism on the vertical blinds. I mentioned to the office that I wasn't really 100% with it even though it was what I had ordered. Tanika, the office manager, said she would get back with me. Soon I got a call from the owner, Frank, who expressed concern that I was not completely satisfied with their product and wanted to make it right. Frank happily proposed a deal to have the vertical blind operation changed to my liking for a minimal installation fee. At this time all changes have been made and I am now completely happy with the result and especially the customer service I received. I had a very unfortunate experience working with this company, and I can only hope it was an unusual one (although a few other reviews confirm my experience). Details are below, but customer service was terrible once my deposit was paid, and after 5 months of waiting and hounding them by phone, I've only got simple vinyl blinds finally installed in my bedroom, while my living room (the main part of the order) remains undone. The only good thing I can say is that the owner finally let me cancel the living room blinds and recuperate my deposit. I'm starting from scratch on that with a different company. I should add that I didn't do any comparisons for quotes -- I didn't have the time for it (a big mistake, since that extra time would have saved me months of waiting in the end). This was one of 2 companies that expressed interest in our building after a window replacement project, and I could only make the info session for this one and made an appointment at the time. There were 2 parts to my order -- standard vinyl blinds for bedroom, and fancier floor-to-ceiling version for my living room. I placed the order in mid-August, paid 50% down, and was told it would take 4-5 weeks. After about 6 weeks I called for an update. They said my requested style was backordered until October. After waiting for them to contact me, I called in October again. Now backordered until November, apparently. I called again in November (they never proactively let me know about all these delays, I had to make multiple calls each time, since half the time no one seems to answer the office phone). I was told it was now backordered until February. This was unacceptable to me, so I said I'd change the material selection for the living room blinds to something in stock. Once I made the selection, the owner's wife called to say that the manufacturer (Hunter Douglas) would be fulfilling the order right away and shipping it before Thanksgiving. I waited for about 2 weeks after Thanksgiving and nothing. I called the office and left a message with an assistant asking for an update. No response back. I sent an email to the office. No response. I sent a text message to the owner, who had taken my order originally. No response. I gave up for the time being and left town for the holidays. The day I returned in January, I was sent an email saying my bedroom blinds were ready and the installer would get in touch within 1-3 days, but that my living room blinds were backordered until February. My last sliver of patience snapped at this point. I asked what was going on, since I'd been assured the entire order would be shipped before Thanksgiving and I'd received no other update despite multiple requests. The office assistant wrote back saying she'd have the owner contact me. 3 days went by with no word from either the owner or the installer. I emailed again. This led to the installer calling me (he was the most helpful person I talked to, but isn't even really part of the Value Blind company) and he applied some pressure on the company to get in touch with me. When the owner finally called me back, it seemed that they knew soon after I'd changed my order in November that it was in fact not going to be ready until February, but no one bothered to let me know. They really need to work on communication and efficiency -- key components of any service-providing company, one would think. read more

We purchased custom Norman shutters from Frank at Value Blind. The final product looks terrific and the value was excellent. (Value Blind offered the best pricing of three companies we received quotes from.) At first, we weren't sure what type of window coverings we wanted. Frank came out and spent 90 minutes with us going through the various options and the plusses and minuses of each, which was a huge help. He clearly knows his stuff. Frank came out again to take measurements when we were ready to order. We asked to review the final rail charts before Frank placed the order, as we were still deciding between a few configurations for the shutters themselves. About a week later, we emailed Frank to ask when we'd receive the charts to review. He called back and said that he had placed the order and the shutters were already on their way. He took responsibility for the mistake and committed to making sure that we were 100% satisfied with our shutters, even if that meant submitting a second factory work order. He asked if we'd be willing to wait until the first order arrived so he could make sure all the measurements were exactly right and we could see the shutters in person and decide what we wanted to do. That seemed reasonable to us and we weren't in a rush, so we agreed. The shutters arrived and the install team came out to install custom framing. We were nervous about this as we have plaster walls (which can be tricky) but the team was excellent and did a great job with the installation. We didn't like the shutter configuration itself, though, as the top and bottom rails were too large and it blocked out too much light. We let Frank know and he said he would place another order. He sent us the proposed rail charts for the second order, we made one small change, and he submitted the order. The second set of shutters came in and are perfect. We are incredibly happy with them and with Frank. We bought an old house and have dealt with a number of contractors. Something usually goes wrong somewhere along the line. In Value Blind's case, Frank made a mistake -- but he immediately took responsibility for it and did everything possible (including taking a loss on the sale) to make sure that we were completely satisfied. Our 4 X 8 foot family room skylight cast a beautiful natural light into our home. However, on bright sunny days we were looking for a way to control the sunlight to prevent carpet and furniture fading. At a Dulles Expo Center Home Show we discussed our requirement with Frank Giglio of Value Blind and Heirloom Draperies. He suggested Normans Solid Wood Shutters, mounted under the skylight at the ceiling, with a battery-operated solar-charged motor and remote control that permitted us to vary the amount of light to our taste. Frank came to our home, showed samples, took exact measurements and help us choose the optimum style of blinds. He drew up a special order, and the price was reasonable. It was apparent that Frank is experienced, knows the business, and was able to recommend the high-quality product that met our requirements. When the blinds arrived, we scheduled the installation with Jason, who gave us a great install. That was in December of 2012, and the blinds have operated flawlessly to this day. We haven't even had to replace the solar rechargeable batteries, they're still performing well. So, after almost 7 years of service, we have not had a problem with looks or performance, and are grateful for Frank's professional assistance in helping us choose the right product for our needs. In 2018, we updated our master bath which has 2 palladium windows and wanted shutters to offer privacy and control sunlight. We sought quotes from several blind installers, but each told us that due to the high moisture content in a bathroom, their blinds would not hold up, and therefore they would not recommend them. Once again, we turned to Frank. He came to our home, listened to our requirements, and recommended the shutter product that would suit our need. Knowing that other blind dealers would not recommend their products for a bathroom, we trusted Frank to provide the solution. He recommended horizontal blinds that began at the sill and stopped at the curvature of the window, with an internal gear mechanism that permitted the opening adjustment of the bottom and top half separately. The blinds and casing were sealed from moisture. As with our previous installation above, Frank ordered the blinds and Jason performed the install. After a year of being exposed daily to hot showers and moisture, the blinds have performed perfectly. We engaged Value Blinds for a shade and cornice for our master bedroom. Our goal was to block out all the light being provided by the streetlight outside of our window. Angelee came out and did a fantastic job working with us and making recommendations from a designer perspective. She spent a good 2-3 hours with us to come up with a treatment for one window. The price for what we purchased was quite reasonable. When the shade and cornice were installed the shade did not block out all of the light as we had wanted it to. We were very disappointed the shade did not block all of the light as we were clear that is what we wanted. I spoke with Frank about this issue and he did something quite incredible. He offered to give us curtains to go over the shade free of charge. This meant they would have to build a larger cornice which he also offered free of charge. The value of what Frank was offering was over $2000. Angelee came out to take some new measurements and talk through the design options. The curtains and new cornice were installed and they look amazing. I was completely impressed by the company's focus on customer satisfaction. I would highly recommend them to anyone else. read more

These guys were absolutely horrible. They kept delivering either damaged blinds or the wrong blinds and I had to wait 4-6 weeks between each attempted installation. Overall it took about 7 months from the time of initial ordering to final installation. The employee (owner?) I dealt with was Frank Giglio. Terrible guy. When I asked for some money off for my troubles, because taking off from work like 4-5 different times to let the installation guy come to the house means you can't go to work and earn money those days, he cursed at me over the phone. We purchased 8 customized Hunter Douglas window blinds, which have just been installed. Overall, we are pleased with the HD product. Of particular note, the Value Blind salesperson, Veronika, was exceptionally helpful in selecting the fabric, mechanisms and colors to match our home decor. It took several weeks for HD to produce the shades (no issue). The installer was first rate -- he called us as soon as he had the product, showed up at the agreed-upon time, and -- most important -- he did a terrific job of carefully placing and adjusting (leveling, etc.) each blind. read more

A post card offered a free in-home consultation. Frank, the owner of Value Blind of Ashburn, came by at the appointed time and day (he called to let me know he would be a few minutes late) and gave me a thorough free consultation. He explained options for replacing the builder's blinds that were now 10 years old, a couple of which were broken. My condo has an open floor plan with 23 windows. After thorough discussion of the various replacement (types of blinds and other window treatments, their advantages and disadvantages and costs) and repair options, we agreed that, for my purposes, just replacing the two that are damaged with similar blinds (he doesn't carry the same brand so there would be minor differences in appearance but he thought only I would notice the differences) made the most sense. But he also told me that one of the two could be repaired if I could get the right part from the manufacturer, and he told me how to contact them He could then sell me a single replacement blind and his installer would make the repair at the same time he installed the replacement blind on the other window, at no additional installation cost. All told, I was greatly impressed by Frank's knowledge, lack of pressure to sell me more than I needed, and general helpfulness. read more
