I'm sorry but that's extremely cowardly to completely avoid talking to a customer to resolve an issue. The installers did not remove the old carpet padding, despite it saying to do so in the contract. We did not find out until later when we needed to pull up a corner of the carpet. Was baffled that they literally cut corners. They also didn't tell us that the subfloors needed repairing and did a crappy job of patching it with scrap wood. I'm particularly baffled that the owner won't even talk to us. He obviously knows that they do shoddy work. Terrible service, terrible installation, terrible resolution, terrible company.

We were uncertain whether the existing flooring was solid hard wood, engineered hard wood, or even luxury vinyl and had questions about the floor's composition and care and refinishing. Ignored Certified Letter, Left Home Damaged & Incomplete…read more If you are considering Flooring America in Fairfax, BEWARE. We paid them over $40,000 for a major installation and were left with unfinished job, poor workmanship, and complete stonewalling from management. After our sales point of contact Yamah stopped responding to calls and texts, we visited and called the store repeatedly. This is when we discovered after months of Yamah making excuses, he retired without passing on our file. Every employee promised management would reach out. No one ever did. Desperate for a resolution, we sent a Certified Letter via USPS directly to store management outlining critical issues: two uninstalled vanities, uninstalled closet doors in two rooms, unstable kitchen cabinets, missing toe kicks, work quality issues, and dangerous trim undercuts. They ignored the certified letter entirely. No call, no email, no effort to fix their mistakes. They show total disregard for their customers and their own contractual obligations. Save yourself the stress and hire a contractor who stands behind their work.

It was a no brainer to choose them. When it comes to the work itself, the craftsmanship was very good, the cuts are so clean and everything looks amazing. They did very fast work without sacrificing quality. The only areas for improvement I would say they could have are: - Communication during the days of the project, so you know without having to ask when they are coming, leaving, what the progress is, etc. - Ensuring when they put furniture and things back that they pay attention to things like hooking up HDMIs back to the correct places - Doing a better job of cleanup -- they left behind a TON of dust coating everything, sawdust in my basement that I presume blew in from leaving the garage entrance open where they were working, cans/water bottles left behind - Building in measurement/space for lower flooring to not leave a gap in the trim; they came back and did some caulking after I had a water/rain issue, but it still doesn't look as good -- I wish that their molding/trim solution filled the big gaps and I'm going to have to find a way to do that myself To their credit, they were very fast and responsive when I had a water issue and came back out the next day. I also had a crack in my basement ceiling where something pounded through or pounded the drywall loose from the flooring above being done, and they credited me enough money back to be able to have my handyman fix it. Overall, I would definitely use DFD again.
