He arrived on-time, had all his samples and was helpful and patient reviewing the options with us. That evening we had an official quote and we ordered on 2/13. I appreciated they only want 2/3rds payment to place the order. Other places we talked to wanted full payment up front. Shades arrived in the warehouse on 2/26 and we scheduled installation on 2/28. We hired this company to install shades in our entire house as well as a set of shutters two months ago and worked mainly with Adam. He communicated well, came on time to measure out all the windows with a laser and made very helpful suggestions. The pricing was competitive compared to another quote we got. I am obsessed with my new blinds! I had the pleasure of working with Sandy on picking my blinds. I had four window panes that needed to be covered but really two windows. Bill from Window Wears was fantastic - great design sense, patient with decision making and re-making and a pleasure to work with. The installation was good also. The reason I am giving Window Wears a low rating is because of what happened later - the broken shutter and the company's response, or lack thereof. We purchased Sunland Shutters and after about one year, the staple connecting the tilt rod to one of the shutter pieces broke off. I called Window Wears and they said it would cost $150 to send someone out to repair. They said we could try to do it ourselves and sent me some staples. We still haven't tried it because we don't want to do more damage. Mike, the manager, told me it happens sometimes with the tilt rod and asked if I use it a lot. I said at least once a day or every other day. Then he told me he has these shutters but doesn't move the tilt rod much, indicating to me that if I want to keep the shutters from breaking, don't use them. We don't have young kids and we are careful with the shutters. The product is faulty. I even contacted the maker, who referred me back to the retailer. The guys at Window Wears know a lot and we've had no problem with the blinds they put in. However, their response to this broken piece was quite frustrating. The shutters were expensive, and came highly recommended by them. Before you buy, ask them what their warranty is and steer clear of Sunland Shutters. read more

I ordered some Hunter Douglas window shades from them. Overall, they did a great job and were also the cheapest I could find for the honeycomb shades that i needed for my bedroom. They were even cheaper than Costco. However, I lowered it one star only because it took a while to get the shades and when they did arrive, one of them arrived broken, so I had to wait another 3 weeks before a fixed one arrived again. Unprofessional in several respects, as well as dishonest. First, installers had a difficult, borderline hostile attitude and left copious litter and bags of debris in our condominium. Second, installer (or salesman?) lost the instruction manual that came with our shades, and the latter told me, without missing a beat (once I was actually able to get through to him; we'd already paid, so they had no more use for us), that Hunter Douglas does not provide physical instructional manuals anymore. This was a lie, since I had the instructional manual that came with the non-room-darkening version of the same shades Window Wears had installed on other windows of ours just a few months prior. Finally, my husband and I were not happy with the look of our new shades, and Window Wears shut us down entirely and was not willing to work with us on fixing the problem. I'm mystified that this company does not receive more negative reviews on Yelp. Perhaps they're somehow able to have negative reviews removed from the website. read more

Excellent customer service at all points of contact-- estimate, sale, and installation. We did get a quote from the folks who can get your blinds to you within a day or so (cough), but not only was it more expensive, the products didn't look as nice, the individual was late, and they gave us bad information about our windows. Hugely great customer service and the prices are competitive. I went here at the suggestion of my real estate agent and worked with Adam. He's great with design and every time he said he'd come by our house in Bethesda, he was right on time. Also, several of our Hunter Douglas shades developed problems after a few years. Adam came out quickly when we called. He diagnosed the problem, took the shades down, put up temporary shades and shipped the problem shades back to Hunter Douglas. First of all , we went to another place first and learned our lesson. Sandy truly understood what we wanted and our windows needed. All parts of the sale and installation went smoothly. A few months after the installation, we saw that what appeared to be a discoloring problem on some of the shades. Sandy took pictures to send to the manufacturer and when that wasn't sufficient, she retrieved two of the shades to show to the manufacturer. She even had a temporary shade put up to replace the ones that she had removed. While the shades were gone we had a foggy day. It became obvious that the problem was that some of the glass had a different color tint. Sandy got the shades back from the manufacturer and reinstalled them. I liked that he showed us various options for blinds - told us the pros and cons of each - but then ultimately let us decide which suited us the best. My fiancee and I chose to do Flat Hunter Douglas roman blinds for our living room and Nantucket shades for our bedroom. I wanted everything to be perfect and so I spent weeks pondering over the color and pattern (Window Wears has book loads of sample prints - you can spend days just flipping through them). I couldn't make up my mind so Bill was nice enough to let me swing by his office in Dupont to sit there and flip through the book till I picked out what I felt was the right design. Got a chance to meet Adam who was just as pleasant. Installation was scheduled a couple of weeks later. It was quick, professional and the end product looks great!!
