I had small leak in my roof a few years ago, which had been fixed, but when I finally got around to replacing the drywall, I found that the inside of the wall was covered with a black mold. I covered the area with plastic, and hired an air testing company, which confirmed that it was stachybatrys, or "toxic mold." I found Valor and decided to get an estimate from them based on the good reviews here on Yelp. I was very impressed with my interaction with David when he came to give us an estimate. David was obviously very knowledgeable, and answered all of our questions thoroughly and patiently. Although he agreed that we should have the mold removed quickly, he was very reassuring and at no time pressured us to use his company or otherwise try to alarm us. All our interactions with Valor were timely and friendly. The removal process was finished on the schedule and at the cost included in the initial estimate. David and his crew were professional throughout the removal process, and post-remediation testing showed that they had removed all of the mold. We were so impressed with Valor that we also hired them to replace the insulation, dry-wall, and crown molding that was destroyed in the remediation process. Again, the worker was extremely pleasant and professional, and the work was done on-time, done well, and done at the price quoted. As mentioned in other reviews, David's mother, Lois, handles the scheduling and contracts, and seemed to take personal concern about our situation. In short, Valor is an outstanding example of an old-fashioned small business -- quality work, done right, with a personal touch. During one of the most challenging seasons of our life, Valor Mold came in and alleviated a heavy burden and some extreme stress from our experience. We had a major chain company come to our home for remediation and they failed to set up proper containment- among other issues- which worsened the health of our home and air quality. We went in search of a second remediation company to come in and fix what the first company caused and also failed to fix initially. Joey from Valor came out to assess the house and discuss the situation. He was so professional, so kind, and such an amazing listener. Unfortunately, those qualities are extremely hard to find in hired contractors! Communication is so important and Joey was easily accessible by phone or text and the office at Valor was responsive via phone and email. Throughout the process, Joey showed up when he said he would show up. He was thorough and went the extra mile with his work ethic- it was clear that he had integrity and skill within his profession. He offered to help above and beyond what our insurance would reimburse for and even offered to "clean up" our attic at no additional cost as it was not going to be covered by insurance. He saw us. We have hired Valor Mold Removal for large and small mold remediation projects. There is a mold-sensitized person in our household, and so we only want to work with the best business. We have experienced owner David Myrick as honest, knowledgeable and personable, as well as professional. Our mold-literate doctor identifies Valor as the most reliable mold remediation company in the area. We had many questions prior to whole house remediation. Valor patiently and graciously answered them all. They offered handouts with background information and FAQs. We received clear contracts. On work days, negative air pressure machines were set up to achieve correct Pascals of pressure to exhaust mold spores out of the house through a window. They painstakingly HEPA vacuumed all vertical and horizontal surfaces. When the containment area was a specific space, containment barriers were set up to prevent mold spores from migrating beyond the work area. Hardwood floors were protected. When we used an InstaScope reader to verify the quality of the job, our mold spore count had gone from 10,000 to undetectable. Valor has served us as both mold assessor and mold remediator, but on different projects. They properly and ethically refused to be both the company to assess the need and the company hired to do the remediation. When we decided on Valor for the remediation work, they provided us with a separate list of trusted contractors whose work they knew to be competent for assessment. We've used Valor Mold twice for mold remediation, for a large project in 2019 (entire basement) and a smaller one in 2026 (a bathroom). For both projects, from start to finish, Valor Mold was great to work with. The proposal was detailed and transparent, the cleanup crew was respectful and clean, and post-remediation testing confirmed mold removal was extremely successful. Valor Mold prides itself on following the industry standard for mold remediation, including negative pressure air flow, using a decontaminant area, and even used sticky pads on the floor for the workers to walk on so as to not track spores and debris in and out of the contaminated area. The containment area was done so well with thick plastic and zippered doors, that we left it up for rebuilding the area to control dust dispersion related to installing new drywall and flooring. The owner David (a self-proclaimed "mold nerd"), and project manager Carlos, were both outstanding to work with. Thank you for making a tough situation tolerable and giving us the peace of mind that our mold remediation was done correctly (both times!). Valor was extremely professional to work with to help me through my mold nightmare. I had a positive experience with a very challenging issue. My bathroom shower was not built properly and consequently I had some wood that had been absorbing water for years. The scope of the problem was definitely a bigger headache than initially expected, but I was charged the same fee I was quoted at the start of my project. Through scheduling difficulties like Snowpacalypse 2016 delays and waiting more than a week for my wood to dry out, David, Lois, Ronnel, and Donnie were very patient in working with me, my schedule, answering questions, and what was overall of utmost importance to me, i.e. making sure that no corners were cut and the job was done correctly. This is an outstanding mold remediation company first and foremost -- they did a really good job with my project. They remediated two different areas for me on separate occasions, and both times the work was excellent: careful, thorough, and done right. They genuinely won't take on a job unless they can do it properly, which says everything about their standards. Because he is without a doubt a male chauvinist: A male who patronizes, disparages or otherwise disintegrates females in the belief that they are inferior to males and thus deserving of less than equal treatment or benefits.. We had no idea about the mold world....there are some SERIOUS scammers who prey on your fears of toxic mold and will take you for every cent they can get their hands on. It's a gross underbelly world. But David and Lois are an amazing exception and i am so thankful that i found them. They saved me at least $5k. Eternally grateful. They specilize in mold remediation but not do mold testing. It is always best to get a seperate firm to do the air quality (etc) testing than the one who does the remediation. They will honestly asses your problem and not try to sell you stuff you don't need. They are knowledgable, friendly and helpful. read more
