I had my husband's 60th birthday party last night and the food and staff were both amazing. Victoria handled our 18 person party for the entire evening. Disappointing meal. Admittedly, I haven't been there in a couple years but had many good meals here in the past. My cacio e pepe was good, although served with angel hair when it should be bucatini or a thicker spaghetti. Bread and olive oil were delicious. As someone else here said, the pizza is inconsistent. I have had Marguerita pizza from their takeout which was great. The pizza my husband got did not even resemble a marguerita pizza. No sauce. Just tiny pieces of tomato atop a lot of cheese. He didn't touch it and explained that was not what he expected. I asked the server why it was so different from what I'd had from their takeout, she said it was the same. They must have changed a lot! Although we don't want the pizza and didn't touch it, when she offered to box it I said okay and of course paid for it. Kind of regret that since we are not going to eat it. After that, I was rushed finishing my pasta. Handed the bill within 1/2 hour of sitting down. I do not recommend. They are over priced with small portions. We were over charged for our take out order. We ordered a small salad and they charged us for a large. We asked for a pasta on the fly gnocchi and they charged us for a regular which is double the price. One of our favorite places to eat! Amazing food, anything you get is good! I recommend the mushroom rigatoni and the truffle fries (I believe they are only on the takeout menu but I could be wrong). A hidden skippack gem! We have been twice and both times the food and service are on point. Service is quick and they are very attentive. Bonus that it's BYOB & you can order wine from their menu as well which is unique. Highly recommend either burrata appetizer( fried or caperse) both are delicious. Also if you have time for their espresso ice cream dessert- I've never had a coffee based dessert that was so tasty. We got the short rib bolognese, branzino and Salmone burrata dish. All excellent. This is for a takeout panzerotto that we were excited to try after seeing on the takeout menu: It *really* needed more time in the fryer. The mozzarella wasn't fully melted and portions of the dough weren't fully cooked. Sauce was OK, but the undercooked aspect was really a downer. Not sure if we will try this place again, especially for more complex dishes involving more than cheese, sauce, dough and hot oil. read more

The food the four of us got didn't taste flavorful. My fillet was tough and overcooked. They brought me a new one which as cooked correctly but it was still tough and flavorless. The truffle fries were like fries from the freezer, like bad bar fries with hardly a hint of truffle oil. One pasta dish was overcooked. The meats on the pastas were passable but not delicious. The Caesar salad was watery and lacked garlic, lemon and good parm. Again, flavorless. It wasn't that the dishes just lacked salt. Some food can't be fixed. They need much better recipes. The server we had was miserable, he clearly was not interested in making our evening enjoyable. We had to ask him if there were any specials and he literally rolled his eyes at us.... We constantly had to ask for more water. After giving us our dinners, never came back to ask if everything was ok or if we needed anything until we were done eating! What Italian restaurant doesn't offer you parmigiana cheese ??? Now let's discuss the food... ceasar salad... tasteless! Chicken piccata sauce...or lack of .... Was tasteless! The pasta on all of our dishes was way undercooked. We have tried this restaurant 3 times over the years with bad experiences with the food, we go back every year thinking maybe they just had an off night! But the combination of the miserable sever and the tasteless food... we will never be back and we will be sure to share our experience with others.... As a person who has had opportunities to enjoy Italian food in big cities, small locations and otherwise - I always like to give objective reviews. Skippack is an awesome town - the restaurants here need do a "decent" job and they will be successful - get some push it to far, this - sadly is one of them. I have been here twice and tried to be very objective - both times the food was average at best - you can tell that they do not put much effort into the word "fresh" One instance - Undercooked meatballs, clearly frozen pasta and some conditions of the utensils and condiments on the table for which you would not want to see. The atmosphere is really nice and the servers are generally good - they did address the issues but I did not get the impression they were overly concerned. Summary - decent but average food, much better options in the area - also, not inexpensive by any means - they take full advantage of the "Skippack" name. Keep your expectations low and you will not be disappointed. read more

Went to cousins communion party today at Vallini. Everything was amazing!!! The waitress was so kind and attentive. She smiled the whole day. The food from the apps to the main courses were incredible. We shared a charcuterie board, calamari, bruschetta... I had the Cesar and went with the papardelle pasta and meat sauce. My family raves about the other options. A salmon, rigatoni and short rib and chicken piccata. I cannot wait to go again. This local spot is a gem! read more

The food was amazing! But really had a bad first impression! I had a reservation and arrived 15 minutes early. The restaurant was almost completely empty when we arrived. The hostess brought us to a table that was in a small room with a very large party approximately 20 people. We asked to be moved to another table, major attitude from the hostess stating that "we are fully booked". That does not make sense to me, did they reserve where they are seated as well? Our meal started well with excellent appetizers- the fried burrata, Nona's meatballs and mussels were all fantastic. I am knocking a star off for the short rib tagliatelle- it was missing the richness or depth of flavor that the best Italian ragu has, and was more like a bland beef stew. Two of us ordered it and tried to spice it up with some red pepper flakes (none were on the table or offered) and the black pepper was pretty sad - sitting in a shaker next to the salt. Fresh ground black pepper is so easy to provide diners but was not on offer. I am not taking another star off for the service, since this is a smaller restaurant (and the appetizers were so good) but we were a party of 12 and had to wait a while for all the entrees to be served. Polite diners don't start eating until the whole party has their food, but the entrees were no longer hot when we started eating them.... A heads up from the wait staff is great way to avoid lukewarm food! Overall, Vallini was good, but a bit more attention to detail could take it to great. read more

Cute location and setting. First time at Vallini. Did not have a reservation, however called and was told they had tables available. Arrived 5 minutes later and was greeted by snotty owner who made a big deal letting us know he might not be able to seat us. The hostess nicely intervened and let him know she had just spoken with us. Both entrees were ok but not great. Husband had the chicken parm and feels no one can beat Basta Pasta for it locally. BLUF: Look, i don't like writing bad reviews, but there is no other way to review this place. I will even wait on reviewing a place so i can try them again later, just in case they were having a bad night, if i think it'll be a bad review. But this makes a few visits over the course of a couple years, and at some point, you just have to call it as it is. The food is awful and seriously overpriced for what you get, the ambiance can be incredibly loud, and the staff has no idea what is even on their own menu. With all the amazing Italian restaurants in the area, avoid this place at all costs. Don't waste your money. I've been here a few times over the last couple years, sometimes in a group, sometimes on my own. Most recently, a few of us decided to get takeout from them, due to everything going on with COVID-19. Bottom line (and this includes my prior, in-person visits), this place can only be described as a huge disappointment. To be fair, there are some pros. The ambiance can be pretty nice, although when it's busy, it is *very* loud inside, so really the ambiance is only nice when it's not busy. It's also a BYOB. That's where the pros end. The service has never been very good. I don't know if it's inattentive wait staff or they're just understaffed, but i recall from my in-person visits, getting help from the waiter/waitress often took a long time. Most recently, when ordering take-out, the people answering the phone couldn't answer even the most basic questions, and even couldn't pronounce the word, "gnocchi." Not a good start for an Italian restaurant. Further, their online menus (they have "dinner" and "take-out" on their website) are incorrect. Rather, they have a take-out menu, but don't actually have the items on that menu. The hostess taking the order had no idea, and actually had to call back twice to fix their mistake in taking an order that couldn't be fulfilled. Not a big deal, except the second time, she was clearly aggravated and rude, as if it was our fault the restaurant had items on their menu they couldn't actually fulfill. And incredibly, one of the items we were told we couldn't get was a bolognese, because they didn't have the pasta. So we replaced it with rigatoni and meatballs, only to later find out they had a gnocchi bolognese dish they could have replaced it with. They never mentioned they actually had a bolognese on their menu. Picking up the food was fine, though the hostess was of no help. Someone from the kitchen had to come and help. Ok, so how's the food? was all this worth it? (i think you can guess...) Rigatoni with truffle sounds awesome, right? Problem is, there's no truffle. And for the price, you really should only expect truffle oil, which is fine. But they hardly used any, and the truffle flavor was almost non-existent. There was also far too little sauce. I will say, though, the rigatoni itself was well cooked. The "lobster" ravioli should be renamed to crab, because there's hardly any lobster in it at all. All you can taste is crab, but calling it lobster means they can charge more for it, which they do. Don't be fooled. And look, they mention it's lobster and crab, but given how little lobster they use, it's suspect at best (some might say false advertising) to use the word lobster. The chicken parm, well the sauce was completely bland, with no flavor. It was impressive at how little flavor it had. even just messing around in a kitchen with some tomatoes, basil, salt, and pepper should give you better flavor, so i don't know how they managed to incorporate literally zero flavor. The chicken looked decently cooked, but it was pretty dry. As were the dinner rolls, very dry, as if they were cooked yesterday and left out. The Caesar salad wasn't terrible since the dressing is decent, but the salad itself was nothing special. Boxed croutons, no Parmesan, etc. We also ordered a rigatoni and meatball dish, but again, it was the same flavorless sauce as the chicken parm, and the meatballs were dry and bland. Popped in for lunch while shopping in Skippack and had a great experience. The calamari was some of the best we've ever had. Very tender and lightly fried. Just based on this we'll be going back for more. Had great pizzas too. The only complaint would be that they put shredded mozzarella on a Margherita pizza along with fresh mozzarella that wasn't melted. Despite this it was still very delicious. Host/server was very nice, but service was a little slow because she was handling everything at front of house, but worth the wait for the food. Wondering if the mixed reviews over many years is linked to inconsistent staff cooking the meals and some diners luck out and some don't. We'll be going back. read more

Once again we enjoyed a family dinner at this small warm ristorante. Service was attentive and pleasant as always. Food - always special to have that region of Italy's food showcased. Fra Diablo seafood was wonderful as were the other entrees. If you give this venue less than a 4.5 rating you should consider staying at the 'pizzeria' level for your Italian food. We had a nice experience here. They were able to squeeze us in on a Friday night and we even got to sit outside front and watch the festivities in downtown Skippack. The food was good--no complaints here and even the table olive oil was good. There are original and creative Italian meals on the menu and even several small plates. Our waitress was sweet and tentative and again, no complaints here. As an Italian, I'll be honest, it takes a lot to give an Italian restaurant 5 stars. And actually, I tend to avoid Italian restaurants because it's the food we eat at home. That said, this is certainly one of the best Italian restaurants in the area. read more

My husband and I went here last night for our 1 year anniversary of our wedding. We made a reservation for 7pm and they sat us right away. Because it was a Sunday night, we had our pick to where we would like to sit. We sat out on the front deck which was great because there was a young man out there playing acoustic music and it was the perfect ambiance. We had the calamari and burrata to start with, both were delicious. The calamari was so crispy and the best I have had In a long time! I had difficulty choosing an entree so I asked the server and she was able to give me the top 3 most popular meals, it was nice to have some input since everything sounded delicious! Then we had our entrees: my husband had the chicken parmigiana with rigatoni's and I had the rigatoni's with mushroom and truffle sauce: both were SO good!! I was happy I was able to add shrimp to it since I think it was meant to be a vegetarian meal. For dessert we had Tiramasu and the chocolate cake on special. Everything was so delicious and the portion sizes were huge so we took most of our meals home. The bill wasn't super expensive either for everything we ordered. Geezus, I write 368 reviews, out of the goodness of my heart, add some humor, and then get smacked down. Thanks yelp, you're wonderful people. ) In the Village of Skippack, good restaurants are hard to find. Yes, the Parc Bistro holds up to a standard of other suburban 4 star eateries (less than 4 stars if that measurement is in a cultured locality), but past that, we found one more place to share a multi-star rating. A quaint, relaxed, casual BYOB with the atmosphere of Old Skippack was the choice by my beloved companion for this rainy, hot, humid, "close" evening. Wednesday was buck-a-shuck night. Hard to mess-up fresh, sweet oysters. These were tender, good, and along with the arugula salad, a decent start. Our entrees were the branzino (I tasted. It was fresh, light and flakey) and the cobia (nice). Someone mentioned Vallini misses "a little pizzazz". I'll agree with that assessment. Overall I would say this is a mediocre place. The service is below par. Very slow and unaccomodating. We had dirty dishes at our table the whole time. The water also was not filled when empty. The food was overall good. The burrata was too notch and the calamari fine. We had a variety of the pasta and meat dishes and I'd say they were all fine. Went for an early dinner on Monday , 1st ones there at 530. Got the olive plate , nice size for 2 and only 9 bucks , also the mussels in white sauce , again only 9 and nice size. Portions for dinner were consistent , my mom brought half of her gnocci home and my grilled salmon was cooked perfectly. all in all very nice byob, I can see this getting very busy on a weekend night and very loud , there was only a few other parties in when we were there, there was a snow storm coming that night , but volume was high read more

ARANCINI ($10) (Braised boar filled, mozzarella, marinara) A crispy, golden-brown fried exterior with goeey mozzarella stick and risotto-like center. Great with or without dunking in the marinara sauce. The texture and flavor combination is divine -- this dish is highly recommended. Grade: 92/100 ANTIPASTO PLATTER ($18) (Prosciutto, parmesan reggiano, pickled vegetables, sun-dried tomatoes, olives, honey, grilled artichoke, grilled asparagus, grilled red pepper) GET THIS! Super fresh smorgasbord that is incredible when several ingredients are assembled into one-bite. Grade: 96/100 BRANZINO GRIGLIATO ($28) (Compari tomato, asparagus, lemon caper sauce) A fresh, flaky fish that was bursting with flavor with salty, crispy skin -- a great light bite, but next time I'm going to try the pasta. I went to this restaurant for a private event, and it was nothing short of excellent! The hors d'oeuvres spread was delicious. There was a great variety of cheeses, fruit, flatbread, salad, olives, bruscetta, etc. The hot food was also delicious. I loved the chicken parm and lobster/crab ravioli. Will definitely be back for the ravioli. It was not fishy, and filled with the perfect amount. Service was attentive. This place is BYOB which is also nice.
