I love family owned places like Dolce Vita! DOLCE VITA IS SO DELICIOUS!! I am rolling out of here! Stopped by Dolce Vita for dinner and it did not disappoint. I had the tuna hoagie and it was absolutely delicious. The bread is incredibly soft and the tuna salad is perfection. The onions add a flavor that really brings everything together. I also ordered the eggplant French fries and they are heaven, especially dipped in the red sauce. So good. Customer service was excellent and the whole experience felt welcoming and relaxed. I imagine this place is packed during lunchtime, but coming at dinner meant no wait at all. They also have specials, which is a nice bonus. I grabbed a cannoli to go and will report back after I try it. Highly recommend checking this place out. Do not visit Pennsylvania without going to Dolce Vita! read more

Wonderful find in Sumneytown. Very good pizza, with good sauce, thin crust, and different varieties. The same for the sandwiches, calzones etc. The main dishes we've tried there are very good, including some classic sauces. The owners are friendly and low key, and the service is very good. Don't know if this the rite place to leave a review,but i never came home from a pizza place so upset we ordered 5 pizzas from Dolce vita we always order from thier ,they are great this time 3 of our pizzas were so under cooked you could not pick them up without them falling apart.so I called explained the pizzas the lady told me to bring them over they would make me 3 new.When I got thier the older gentleman looked at the pizzas AND TOLD ME THEY WERE FINE HE FINGERED ALL OF THE SLICES CLOSED THE BOXES SHOVED THEM AT ME AND SAID WHAT YOU WANT ME TO DO,I said I would like new pizza so he grabbed two pizzas AND AGAIN SHOVEING THEM AT ME AND SAID NEVER COME BACK. read more

Their system for pick-up is not well organized. In addition, the two ladies handling the pick up orders were yelling at one another repeatedly as they were trying to coordinate with each other. Lastly, the two pizzas we ordered (plain and BBQ chicken) were as good as any other local pizza place, but the calamari was inedible. We ended up throwing it away. The pizza was excellent, the staff was friendly. I wish they delivered! The reason I feel compelled to leave a review is to thank them for their effort in creating a safe environment for their staff and customers. My husband walked in to pick up and was so happy to see the plexiglass divider. He was even happier to see the masks on every employee. There are other local pizza places that don't seem to care about the health of their customers or employees, but DV obviously does. They will be our go to take out place. This place is a gem, the workers are fabulous and the food came out quick and hot. We got the manicotti, and two pizzas - one gluten free. The portions are great, and the side salad with the manicotti was better than expected! The crust is nice and crispy. We got pesto, Margherita, and Caprese pizza. All delicious! This restaurant is a true gem!! Two friends and I ate here on Saturday night to celebrate a birthday and could not be happier. The inside is on the smaller side which made it very cozy. The menu is large and has some thing for everyone. The waitress was excellent. She explained that the restaurant was BYOB, had suggestions for specials, and what came with the entrées since it was our first time there. The portion size was perfect. Everyone in our group ordered a different chicken entrée that was absolutely delicious and it came with a small salad , a slice of bruschetta, and a homemade bread with amazing dipping oil. Every part of the meal was excellent !!! Since we were celebrating a birthday, the waitress surprised us with three slices of a limoncello cake and sang happy birthday. Everything about this experience was a 10 out of 10 we will definitely be back!! I almost forgot the best part, meeting Frank! He's the owner and very engaging. It was nice to see him in the restaurant checking on his customers to make sure everything was okay and that we were enjoying our dining experience. Had lunch with five family members on Sunday 16 October.The onion soup was basically boiled white onions in hot water with melted cheese on top. Looked terrible tasted terrible. Shrimp Scampi was angel hair pasta with a few shrimp tossed in. No sauce and not remotely anywhere near tasting like shrimp scampi. the salads were bits of tomatoes, a little lettuce and a piece or two of chopped peppers . Looks like they ran out of food and tried to compensate by splitting what they had amongst six people . Only had enough blue cheese dressing for two salads. The good. The ravioli with lobster was good . My guess is because they buy this from suppliers.Dee who was our waitress was good and we give her credit for dealing with a kitchen that was not only understaffed ,but also incompetent. Thank God Dee forgot to bring the Calamari . The fried onion rings were cremated. It is obvious the owners and kitchen staff have fallen on hard times. First and never ever gain. read more

For years I used to love to come here for pizza, cheese steaks and hoagies. In fact I would only get my pizza from this place because I liked it so much, even though there were closer pizza shops. Then on my last visit the owner did something I couldn't believe. I was early for picking up my mushroom/pepperoni pizza and told the person at the counter that I was there for my pizza. He said something to the owner who I saw hovering over a fully cooked mushroom pizza on the prep table. The owner was frantically placing pepperoni slices on the pizza and got this nervous look on his face after the worker told him I was there to pick up my pizza. The worker tells me that the pizza will be a few more minutes. I watched as the owner placed the already cooked pizza back in the oven for several minutes. I was like, what the heck is going on here? I took the pizza home and found that the bottom crust was burnt, the cheese was congealed like a pizza that had been cooled and reheated, and the pepperoni slices were still raw and just oozing oil out of them. It was a terrible pizza. Based on what I saw and how the pizza was I came up with 3 possible scenarios. 1)They messed up and my pizza hadn't been made and they were trying to get out of a jam, 2) the owner had given my pizza to someone else just before I got there and he was trying to cover his tracks or 3) someone ordered a mushroom pizza earlier and never picked it up and the owner thought he'd save himself some money and just recycle the pizza and got caught in the act because I showed up early. I can't be sure obviously but regardless of what ever was going on, I didn't get the freshly made pizza I ordered. I can deal with mistakes that people make like someone accidentally leaving off a pizza topping or giving the wrong size pizza, but when you purposely try to pull one over on the customer like that it's totally unacceptable and doesn't deserve me even saying anything. Dolce Vita lost me as a customer that day. I've gone elsewhere for my pizza, cheese steaks and hoagies ever since. read more

Quality beyond compare. We had a spinach mushroom ravioli in Alfredo sauce and I could not stop eating it. The owner realized we had not had the ravioli in marinara sauce and brought us an additional plate. Moved on to the entree and had both veal and chicken parm. Chicken is not my favorite but the chicken parm here melted in your mouth. A great restaurant with a great chef. Don't pass this up. read more

They always have excellent lunches. The paninos are the best! They are fast and very friendly. Sometimes for dinner we get their special 2 pizzas and a soda for $20. The pizza is always done perfectly. If you're in the area, you should try them out. read more

The Entrees were fabulous! The owner (Frank) and his wife treated us like we were family. We were celebrating two birthdays. They surprised our table with a lovely appetizer of breads, cheese and awesome meats. For dessert they brought both birthday ladies a cannoli with a birthday candle and sang "Happy Birthday". Every time we are there, the food is amazing and they are fabulous hosts. The atmosphere of this tiny restaurant is far better than any big chain I have ever been to. read more

A friend and mine were going to have lunch here and parked in their lot which had no parking signs posted but had small print. We noticed small print on the top of the sign so started walking towards the sign to read what the small print said. As we were reading it which said Dolce Vita parking only - a man in a white apron came out of the side door and started yelling at us stating 'You can not park in this lot. But go ahead and park there and I'll have you towed' I am assuming the man thought we were going to be going to the restaurant across the street that seemed to be getting more business? But my friend and I just wanted a slice of pizza for lunch and were immediately yelled at by a man that may have even been the owner. Business lost - VERY RUDE. read more

My family has gone to Dulce Vita for years and we all love it. We make it a habit to go at least once a week. The food is as Authentic as it gets! (The owner was born and raised in Italy!) The food is wonderful and the portions are large. We always leave with leftovers for the next day. If you order a pasta dinner at dinner they give you a complimentary glass of red or white wine. The dinner comes with handmade, fresh bread, handmade oil dip for the bread, a piece of brushetta, and choice of soup or salad. (The chili is spicy and tastes wonderful.) The waitress' are very nice, even the new ones. Sometimes they get very busy and the service is slow but the food itself, the prices, and the atmosphere never deter us. read more

A coupple of months ago I ordered a Large Margahrita pizza. (Basil and Fresh Mozzarella) $13.95 The pizza had one full leaf of basil on one side and a 1/4 of one opposite. Barely any FRESH MOZZARRELLA! I ordered one this evening with ham and mushrooms. (two toppings @ $1.50 each=$3.00) I told the girl please make sure you put plenty of basil on it, which she repeated back to me. We all can do math right 13.95+3.00+6%tax=$17.97. I pick up the pizza and the bill is $20 and change, they are busy, I am hungry so I say nothing. I get home and there is barely any mozzarrella on the pizza AGAIN, The basil is adequate, howevr I realize they charged me for xtra basil. CMON GUYS! I dont want anything for free just what I paid for. A ball of mozzarrella at the super market is between $6 and $8 dollars. On a Fri you probably make 150-300 pizzas. I think your profitt is adequate, why skimp on the cheese and basil? The folks there are friendly, but this is the last time I go there. Toscos is right up the road. There pizza is outstanding, it's just the lines are out of hand. Oh well, at least the wait is worth it. read more

This place can't be beat! The owner, Frank, has been the same for the last decade and runs an amazing restaurant. Take out or dine it it's one of my favorites. It's nice to see how the place has progressed over the years as well, the just added a new wall and mural of Italy, it looks amazing. Cozy feel allows for it to be family friendly and also romantic feeling especially if you go closer to dinner. They have a dinner specials menu so its not only typical pizzeria menu items but also fine italian cuisine. I personally love the place for its $20 pizza special, you get 2 large pizzas and a two liter. My family loves when we have pizza nights every week. Stumbled across this great little family oriented pizza place and we couldn't have been more pleased. The menu had a lot to offer us besides the traditional option of pizza which was nice. The appetizers (loaded fries) has become one of our favorites, the soups are your basics and the specials are always fresh and different. We have never been disappointed in a pizza yet ! They always have specials during the days as well so it makes it perfect for the working guy to stop in and grab a good quick lunch for a reasonable price. The staff and family members are all so nice and they make us feel like family when we are there. I would recommend Dolce Vita by Nina to all the locals and visitors to the area. Enjoy ! read more
