Curb appeal, no. But don't be deceived, once you figure out which door to use, you're greeted by some B.B. King, a super cool space with awesome mood lighting harkening back to the speakeasy days. It was before 5, so we were the first. Partner is loyal to Lite, so micro brews can be a challenge, but the beer tender suggested one that he really liked. Not sure if that is a bad thing or if me dragging him into so many brew pubs has finally elevated his palate. I had the cherry pie cider, yum, so tasty. His new jawn is nachos, we've been getting them everywhere. These were particularly good . He added the chicken and I just loved the cheese sauce. Just wish some genius could find a way to keep them hot longer. They always get cold no matter where we get them. BTW, it was nice and toasty in here. Warm welcome with the recent chill. I had a bowl of the crab bisque. Creamy without artificial thickener, a lot of good crab, I mean a lot! Delicate taste with a hint of heat. Well worth the $12. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Man that was a tasty Saturday night bite! I split the super tasty Pulled Pork BBQ flatbread and a Hummus Platter with my wife and washed it down with a Big Booty Chocolate Stout ! My wife had a delicious white wine and the savory and sloppy BBQ was delivered fast and hot by Taya and Dorothy! I've had the heavenly Peanut Butter stout before and the chocolate after taste was a great compliment to the BBQ sauce what a filling, reasonably priced feast! I'll be back! OMG! This spot is so cool. My brother and his fiancé have been coming here for a long time. The bartenders were super sweet & the food was excellent! My brother had the Bavarian Pretzel appetizer served with beer cheese. It is huge, soft, perfect amount of buttery-ness & saltiness, and paired with the beer cheese it takes it to another level. It is a must if you come here. Honestly I might get that for my entree next time haha! My husband and I had the vegetarian spring rolls with sweet chili sauce. These were excellent as well. For entrees, I had the pulled pork sandwich with choice of bbq sauce, which also came with two sides. My husband got the brisket sandwich, with choice of bbq sauce, which also came with two sides. I'm sorry I can't remember which sauces we picked, but it was tastyyy! We both had the cole slaw and collard greens. These sides were delicious, but the collard greens were super spicy! Delicious, but very spicy even for me (and I love spicy!) This place is also a brewery, and we enjoyed quite a few beers between us. For dessert, we ordered the Booty Grain Brownie, which is a homemade brownie using the leftover grains from brewing the Booty beer. It is topped with ice cream, caramel, and chocolate sauce. It was to die for, but I thought the portion was a little small for the price (I could've ate two of them). We were able to catch a few songs of the live music before we headed out - I don't know which band was playing, but they sounded great.I definitely want to come back for karaoke & the open mic night. read more

I realized I've been here dozens of times, including the night before my wedding and other great memorable nights out with family and friends, and never left a review. This is probably my favorite place to go. Period. Note, I didn't say favorite brewery or restaurant. Place. The owners and employees are all wonderful people, there are open mic nights where the staff participates, and other nights where there's just great live music. Nice seating area, food that is way better than it has any right to be, and wonderful beer. They even made my wife mocktails while she was pregnant. I can't speak highly enough of Tuned Up. Cool little bar tucked into the first floor of a building currently under renovation; you'll have to look for it, its a bit of a hidden spot. Really good beer inside. They pour a large number of different brews for such a small space, and the one I had was a style I have never seen before. Highly recommend the Cherry Dubble. Its a rich, roasted malt Trappist style beer and the dark fruitiness is enhanced by the foundation of stewed, overripe cherry. Good beer. They also have setup one corner of the bar for live music, and I'm betting with the right band it'd be quite the night. read more

We stopped into Tuned Up on our first night in town. For a state with such odd liquor laws, we were pleased to see an abundance of breweries in the area. The place was on the quieter side when we arrived, no more than 10 or so people in the place. There's a good amount of seating, the whole side room was empty, so we took a seat at the bar. We chatted with the two guys behind the bar, one I know was an owner, and tasting their brews. They were friendly and generous with the samples for anything we inquired about. It picked up a bit as it got later (it was a week night) and there were two guys playing music while we were there. All in all, we had a great time here and made sure to note it as a place to stop if you're in town in the guest book of our AirBnb. read more

Very quiet on a Friday afternoon. Had a bunch of Belgian beers. All were good, none great. Still, refreshing to see so many Belgians on a beer list. The owner was behind the bar and talked about his beer. He offered the WiFi password without me asking. The inside was dark but clean and spacious. I was the only one there at that time so I do not know how they handle a crowd. Overall a nice quiet place (at least while I was there) with good beer and an owner/operator behind the bar. This place lights up Spring City in so many ways! The food is ASTOUNDING. I know it's a brewery, but I have to start with the food. The kitchen just opened, but the chef here really knows what he's doing and loves to make food and it seriously shows - both in the menu and the rotating specials! Very reasonable prices. I've gotten salads, apps, tacos, flatbreads, sandwiches, specials... It's all been delicious and impressive every time. The beer has us coming back. Our favorite is the red sour - Idiot Bastard Son. Lots of options rotating, plenty of variety. The staff here is the most friendly in town. Kya is the bomb! She makes awesome suggestions, takes good care of you, and just genuinely loves it here too. Phil also hooks it up and his smile will brighten your day! The chef has come out a few times and brought us something new to try, which is so cool to experience. Overall we love this place! Stopped in while in town yesterday, only 3 others in the place when we arrived but it was full when we left. Peanut butter brown ale on nitro was amazing, perfect sweetness and not heavy so it was very easy and enjoyable to drink. The cherry dubble was also awesome, definitely taste the cherries and went well with this time of year. My third favorite was the quad, strong but very drinkable with great flavors. The guy behind the bar was either the brewmaster or the owner or both and he was very personable. Nice to talk to and enjoyed talking about his beers. The atmosphere itself is very simple, no tv's, no dart boards, no pool tables, no juke boxes. Just some good rock n roll playing in the background with guitars hanging on the wooden walls. Perfect kind of no frills place to sit and have a few good quality beers with your friends. We'll definitely be back and we'll be bringing friends. read more

We stopped here for a late lunch on a Sunday after hiking in the Birdsboro Waters. Ignore the earlier reviews about food and service, since they are no longer applicable, and around two years old. Choice of about 10 beers, and we all found something to our liking. One of us got wine, and she liked it so much she plans to but for home. The food was very good. Most of what we got, chicken and brisket, was smoked on site and was excellent. Tia, our waitress, was excellent and had a very good knowledge of the beer, wine, and food. Wow! This is a great hidden gem, and a sorely needed bit of respite for locals. I noticed this place pop up about two years ago and I've passed their cheeky chalkboard sign on the sidewalk hundreds of times; I wish I would have stopped in well before now. The interior has one bar, but plenty of additional seating and is decorated nicely. Pallet-style accent walls wrap through the interior and are adorned with a fun display of various guitars, some of which are available for raffle. There are no TVs, but surprisingly that didn't bother me in the least. It made the atmosphere much more conversation-focused. There were a couple of men playing acoustic the night I visited and apparently every Thursday is open mic night. The clientele was a nice mix in ages and the vibe pleasantly chill for a Friday night. Prices are very reasonable for the high quality product, and the staff was friendly and attentive. Now for the pièce de ré·sis·tance, the craft beers! My husband and I tried the Little Booty Stout, Erotolupulinophobia (IPA), Winding Road Pale Ale, and Belgian Witbier. Little Booty Stout - This is a pleasant, easy drinking roasted barley stout with hints of coffee and cocoa. It's velvety smooth without the bitterness associated with some stouts. The head is conservative and creamy, not unlike the crema on a nice espresso. It's light enough to drink in the warmer months, but heavy enough to melt away those autumn blues. Erotolupulinophobia - As hazy as the morning fog along the Appalachians, as bright as the autumn leaves gleaming in the sunlight, and as beautifully complex as that girlfriend from Harvard you're still hung up on. This New England style IPA might have a made up name, but the intense flavor in this aromatic beauty is pure reality. Impressions of grapefruit, coriander, and a punch of hops that lures you back in sip after sip. I would come back for this beer alone. I hear this was a very small batch, but I sure hope they keep making it! Winding Road Pale Ale - Bright, citrusy, and lightly floral, this clean and complex American Pale Ale can battle with the best of 'em. Winding Road could easily be an all-day drinker. I could see this becoming a camping trip or backyard barbecue favorite. My husband and I liked it so much, we bought a growler. Belgian Witbier - Cloudy, straight-forward, and lively, this is a great "end of the work day" beer. It's like a best friend; reliable, familiar, and something you look forward to seeing on the good days and the bad. Incredible. Didn't do much research before we came to visit Pennhurst for the holiday. Man is this a hidden gem, we lucked out! We had every food from the pretzels, bbq chicken sliders, beef brisket sandwich, poutine, Italian flatbread and chicken Alfredo flatbread. As well as multiple flights and glasses of beer. Needless to say everyone didn't leave a single scrap. It was awesome. Our waiter was just as good as the food.
