The family and I made our way for the first time to the largest thrift store located in Kettering Ohio. When I tell you this place is the grand dame of thrift stores. We spent 2 hours in this wonderful place. Thrifting is some of my family members favorite things to do, so I made sure to make it happen for them. We were in awe at the size of this place. Cheap Easter items - most priced up, broken, dirty. The real draw in this store may be clothing. Saw women buying lots of clothing $3.99 - $5.99 and there may have been a sale. I drove an hour and 15 mins in high winds on the Xway being tossed around... Only to find they are not much different than Valley Thrift Evendale or Fairfield. There are more reasonably priced thrift stores in Cincinnati and Northern Ky with a bigger variety of just everything. read more

Big lot, feels like a costco-sized store with rows and rows of clothes. Lots of selections. Clothing areas are separated by gender, then by type of clothing. Found some nice slick jackets and outerwear. Branded items like columbia and north face seem too overpriced for a thrift store. However, Items from Eddie Bauer that are nicer quality and with no defects are priced under $15. Wish pricing didn't vary so much in range. read more

Its a thrift store..these are donations and they wanted $10 for a shirt, $18 for jeans..what the ???? The environment feels unwelcoming, and whilst one or two employees were kind, most were rude, dismissive, and a bit overbearing. One of them wouldn't give my friend space when she was trying to put her pin in at checkout, which feels rather invasive. On a second, worse note; They staple their tags to the clothing here, and the staples cut my friend on her stomach and her hands. This place is huge. I read mixed reviews about it, but our experience was very positive. Prices seemed good on some things and maybe slightly high on other things. We saw a few things we really liked so we decided to wait until Monday when they had a half off sale. My husband went back and was able to get the items we wanted for half price. This is a very well stocked thrift store. Sometimes the prices seem a bit high, but if you go on Monday, there is a 25% discount which is hard to beat. On holidays, the discount is even higher. They are very organized at the register and the wait is never long. I do wish they were more organized about the merchandise because everything is just thrown on shelves mixed. I went here today. I was looking for shoes. They have shoes down most of the isles but up on top of the shelves. I wanted red shoes so was going down each isle looking for red shoes. Unfortunately I could not find the type of shoes I was looking for. They do have a lot of shoes. They have two isles full of boots. So if you need boots that's the place to look for them. Very unwelcoming, extremely high prices on almost everything, to the point of being absolutely ridiculous. The woman working at the dressing rooms/ bathroom is very rude. Went through her line twice today, I said "Hello" and then "Thank You" as I left her area, I looked her in the eye, and it was as if I did not exist. There is no excuse for an employee to treat people this way. She needs a job in the back sorting through merchandise, definitely with absolutely no customer contact. Way overpriced for donated items. Someone's making a killing! If you are a savvy shopper, you could find same prices on NEW merchandise on the clearance racks at TJ Maxx or Marshall's. It's a huge store, overflowing with everything (except not much furniture). There were also many workers and shoppers. None seemed a bit happy. If you find a treasure there it will be like finding a needle in a haystack. After wandering aisles for about an hour, I spent 99 cents. If you're thinking about getting a job here, don't. The "management" is absolutely horrible. They literally treat you like a dog and tell you have you have to be finished with your work in 5 mins. And they tell you this every 2 minutes it feels like. You're not allowed to have ANY beverage by you, not even water. You have to keep your phone in your clean bag if you bring a bag. You get yelled at for talking almost every second of the day. If you want to go to the bathroom, you have to ask. And if you do go to the bathroom, they talk shit about you behind your back and to your face. But they talk shit about you anyways. Women have to wear scrubs and men can wear jeans and a shirt with a collar. You have to park in the very back, and if you don't, they'll take a picture of your car and make you re-park it. All of the prices are literally made up, if you price something too low, they make you redo it so you're overpricing items that aren't worth that price. They tell you want hands to use while working. Because If you use the wrong hand, you're doing it wrong. And if you're too slow, they will tell you, and not in a nice way either. I could continue but hopefully you get the point. This place is a JOKE. Oh and if you get a bag that has bed bugs or bugs or any sort, they just spray the table and that's it. There's no safety measures at all. This place is a sketchy joke. I don't shop here often but I do a lot of thrifting. This place is way too high. They were selling a Victoria Secret bag for $20 when it was originally a free gift. A wedding dress was $350 and an evening dress was $85. Both would have been about the same price brand new at a department store. I have gone there quite a few years now and have noticed their prices have gone up a bit. I have saw things that was half what a new item would be, and if I am going to pay that I will add more and buy new. I have also saw their candles almost double in price around the time of the tornado in Dayton...and they haven't went down. If the prices on candles keep going up I will be buying new. I usually go there knowing what I am looking for and around the price new is, so if it's a deal I grab it...if not it stays. I'll describe our experience coming here on a late Saturday afternoon in mid-March so you can determine if it's your cup of tea. In short, great selection in clothing categories, more like a yard sale in other kinds of merchandise, staff that isn't terribly helpful with information, and very busy with the trashiest rudest Daytonians. Pluses: Huge selection of clothing. The store is about the size of an old school K-Mart. The clothing selections in all categories are vast compared to many thrifts we've been to. There are two 70-80 foot long racks filled with just children's clothing. The store is extremely clean and most displays of products are fairly orderly and well kept. Prices are low to sort of expensive for a thrift. I picked up a Columbia Sportswear men's jacket that would retail new for $150+ and it was priced at 14.99. They seem to price according to some notion of market value of the original item and not at across-the-board giveaway prices as some thrifts do. On the other hand, a no-name light poplin men's jacket was priced at 1.99. Both items were not obviously worn but felt like they'd both made quite a few trips through a washing machine. Housewares, knick-knacks, kitchen items, and odd stuff such as low end consumer cameras, from old 35mm point and shoots to even a very scuffed up Nikon digital model from the early 2000s are displayed randomly along tables that line one outer wall of the place. Appliances and home electronics such as phones, radios clock and otherwise, stereos, DVD players, etc are mostly old, worn, dingy and uninteresting. Almost none of the electronic or photo gear looks clean and most stuff is well, well worn. I saw absolutely no "gems" or treasures in the store such as vintage electronics, really nice older dish sets, photography gear other than aforementioned discount store amateur stuff, etc. The main issue I have (and this was partly due to arriving on a Saturday) is the customers: mostly lowlife, not nice at all in general, and quite rude. Coughing, pushy, constantly forcing us to stop our walking dead as they'd dart in front of us to get at something. My wife was giving me pissed looks as other customers were physically pushing around us in not that narrow passages. I kept telling my wife in a voice that I hoped could be heard by others "It's just how Dayton is" or "that's how Dayton people act." I told her I hoped to get my ass kicked if I did this enough. :) She was so uncomfortable with the scene that she took her purse out of the shopping cart and wore it tightly against her. We won't go back for a long time because the element that shops at this place made us genuinely uncomfortable, and the selection and merchandise really isn't good enough to compensate for that. read more

Horrible business practices. Reading road location. I have been shopping here for a about two years. I have always had good experiences. That is until these last three days. I saw on Thursday morning a item that I really wanted to buy. The item was not priced. I gave it to the manager and said I would be back Tomorrow (Friday) for it. They have a policy that items not priced, you can not buy it, that it will be priced for sale the following day. I returned when they first opened and asked about the item. Well you guess it. The item was still in the back not priced. I really wanted the item and said I will back today (Saturday). I arrived at opening and was told the item was put out. I combed the entire stop twice today and guess what. NOT THERE!! I don't know why they can't just take the items not priced to the back, then price them same day, like Goodwill does, or hold it for 24 hours for you. For the most part, the items are one of a kind and there is no waiting for more to come in. I wasted two trips for nothing. Got my hopes up. So don't believe that announcement about non priced items will be available for sale the next day. Consider the item gone. I will never shop here again. read more
