Had to call Roadside Assistance to jump it so I could get to O'Reilly's Auto Parts for a new battery before they closed. They said it was the alternator not the battery. Contacted DFW Mobile Repair and Hamm responded immediately with a price quote to fix it. Set up the appointment for mid-afternoon the next day, July 5th (Sunday, on a holiday weekend). Hamm was certainly knowledgeable, and after testing, said it was BOTH the battery and alternator. He replaced the alternator (which he had brought, having had my prior information as to car and model) and then drove to O'Reilly's nearby for a replacement battery which he then installed. In short, Hamm was responsive, capable, courteous and efficient. DFW saved the day (although I lost most of the holiday weekend with the problem!). Pricing wasn't cheap but was competitive I'd say. Give DFW a shot. Their customer service and mechanical work was outstanding. They also have a shop in addition to their mobile repair service. I will certainly consider them for all my future work! They told me I needed a timing cover gasket.. I had a bad feeling so I took it to An actual Mechanic shop called Riviera auto diagnostic.. They said I do not need a timing cover gasket, which would've been an $800 job a quote from Irving Mobile. Riviera told me because of the first mess up country side did.. I needed an engine oil filter housing gasket a $14.99 part plus labor. They told me that countryside had squished oil all over the place which had to be cleaned up and the real problem fixed. I will never ever use Yelp again for a Mobile mechanic.. Irving Mechanic just pulled something out of the sky. The problem is, they don't have a hoist when it's in your driveway to really get to the problem.. I highly recommend Riviera auto diagnostic located in Pantego. These Mobile mechanics are a joke.!

Honest Mechanics DO Exist!!!…read more I took my car to Driver's Edge blindly. I searched for a mechanic in my zip code & they came up, and I couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. They diagnosed my car with a legitimate but costly repair. It was overheating and leaking coolant. Daren (sp) took the time to walk through all of the specifics of what my repair entailed, but went a step further to suggest a less costly alternative to having my car repaired at their shop. I was unaware that my problem was covered under my dealer warranty. He looked into having the repair covered, and provided me with all of the necessary information to have my car fixed by the dealership AT NO COST!!! I have never had such a wonderful experience with an auto mechanic. Driver's Edge is committed to quality service and ensuring that their customers are treated well. Even though they are not handling this repair, I will be using them in the future for all of my car's maintenance in the future. Integrity just can't be bought.

Driver's Edge put together a comprehensive inspection report listing items that required immediate attention and items that were more recommendations. The quote was fairly pricey for the "required" items so she asked me to take a look. I called Trey at Driver's Edge and focused more on the "required" items walking through each item that he suggested required immediate attention. I agreed with him on suspension issues and alignment but questioned the severity of the valve cover leak and the urgency of replacing the rear deck brake light. Trey made it a point to say that the replacement brake light itself was only $7 but the labor to replace the bulb was fairly extensive and was expected to take about 2 hours for the bulb replacement alone. Being busy myself and just wanting to ensure my daughter was safe driving the car, I agreed to all "required" service items which totaled about $3300 in repairs. My daughter's car was done same day and while she was driving home I looked up how difficult it was to replace the brake light. Surprisingly enough, a YouTube video revealed that replacement of the bulb was extremely simple and only took a few moments. I texted Trey to voice my concern that he mislead me and it's been radio silence (after a few attempts of me reaching out). Now I'm questioning whether any of the other services he suggested were really needed. If you value honesty and integrity in car repairs, this place is not for you. Any shop that offers a 10% discount in exchange for a positive review should, in my opinion, be approached with caution. My experience with this shop was far from positive. A truck that had 250,000 miles on it and was showing signs that should have raised some serious questions about a failing head gasket. Instead, I was led through a series of costly repairs that basically treated the symptoms instead of finding the actual problem. Those repairs ultimately failed within a few weeks. They also installed what I believe were cheap aftermarket parts, including the wrong front struts. When I brought it to their attention, instead of taking responsibility and replacing them, they wanted to charge me to install a lift on the rear of the truck to compensate for the front end sitting higher than the rear. WTF? Another big concern was the price and quality of the parts. When I asked about the brand of the parts they were installing, which seemed they were hesitant to reveal, I was surprised to find what appeared to be nearly a 100% markup compared with retail prices. Their invoices also don't identify the brand or manufacturer of the parts, so you really don't know what you're paying for. In my experience, the parts were marked up an unreasonable amount, especially considering the quality. Looking back, I feel like the focus was more on getting me to authorize additional repairs rather than properly figuring out what was actually wrong with the truck, knowing Id probably just cut my losses if I had been told the truth about the head gasket from the beginning. I originally brought my truck here because I was trying to avoid dealership prices. Unfortunately, when I finally took it to the dealership, that's when I learned what was actually wrong with the truck, which was in fact the head gasket and the wrong struts installed. The dealership also asked me if I had ever used a quick sealant in my engine because of the sludge they found in the radiator overflow, the radiator that auto clinique just replaced. I don't have proof, but definitely raised even more concerns about the shop practices. I was so hopeful that I had found an honest shop, but sadly, I'd have to say they are far from it.
