went it on 1/22 for a eye exam everyone who assisted was extremely helpful and so nice. They guided me through everything step by step and explained what they were doing. We chose the frame, I went with Cole Haan my insurance covered the lens i payed $187 for the frame. Which was discounted cause the woman helping me told me if i checked in VIA Yelp i would get $5 off and bought a discount $10 for $25 off. I got a total of $20 off. I am still waiting to pick up my glasses since we had to order it. They said it does take up to 1-2 weeks. Were on week 1, so i will update my view once a get my glasses. I liked the doctor and the state of the art equipment but this place is pricey. Contacts and frames are way over priced. I ended up buying contact lenses at half the price online! They try to upsell you and pressure you into buying extras. Too bad, I really wanted to like this place. Also, appointment times are not flexible within your schedule. Based on so many good reviews, I was willing to travel to Reseda to go here. I called and the girl who answered said "hello?" so I was a bit confused and asked if i had called Valley Optometry and she responds with "sorry I thought you were someone else" and laughs. And then asks what I need help with... I am usually an easy customer but her laughing kind of made me feel disrespected as a customer. When I asked about my insurance and scheduling an appointment, She stated I qualify but my appointment won't be until end of July and sounded a bit annoyed as if she wanted to hang up. To be honest, the late appointment doesn't bother me, seeing that this place has great reviews so I already assumed for new patients, it'll be hard to get an early appointment. As soon as I told her that I would have to think about it since i need to get my eyes checked ASAP, she quickly responded "okay then have a good day!" and hung up. I hope they have more than one receptionist.. I am super disappointed because I was excited I found an eyecare center that had great reviews and everyone seemed to like the doctors... The first impression is always the receptionist and when this happens, it just makes me feel like this place is unprofessional. Which I am sure is not the case. The costumer service here is horrible. This was my first time here so when I called to make my appointment they took my insurance info over the phone. The day of my appointment I show up so they could tell me they couldn't verify my insurance. My only option is to pay for the visit but that's why I have insurance so I wouldn't have to pay out of pocket. What they should have done was call me ahead of time to let me know instead of wasting my time. read more

I was due for my bi-annual prescription renewal and was glad to hear that Dr. Field's new location was not too far from the original one also on Sherman Way. I was pleased to see Dr. Field (Daily News' 2013 Reader's choice of Best Optometrist in Los Angeles) and his friendly staff transplanted a few blocks away to Valley Optometry Eyecare Center. Dr. Field is joined by Dr. Shin and Dr. Kongsakul to create an optometry dream team of sorts, only to be complemented by a knowledgeable and professional staff. They accept VSP and are on the forefront of eye care, offering Optomap Retinal Exams (basically an image of your eye without getting dilated). The Optomap Machine looks intimidating but really feels like you're playing a video game. Dr. Shin went over the images with me just seconds after taking the exam. Other reviews mentioned a small selection of frames but the selection seemed comparable to the big named places. There are also binders with more frames to choose from, just ask one of the ladies behind the desk to have a look-see. The binders are basically manufacturer catalogues so you're just looking at pictures but VOEC offers an in person try on before they send it to their lab to get it fitted with prescription lenses. I ordered a pair of sports goggles from one of the said binders and had them in a couple weeks. I didn't want to limit myself to glasses/goggles so I opted to get some contacts which should be coming in a few days. Dr. K was great and had me fitted with contacts in prompt fashion (as to be expected from a fellow Anteater ZOT! ZOT! ZOT!). It is nice to support a business that has roots in the Valley and helps out the community. The prices are fair and the doctors and staff do everything to get you the best deal possible (just ask Rachel). This little Optometry Eyecare Center is my favorite! Both Dr. Kongsakul and Dr Shin are so skilled and professional. My contact prescription fixes my vision perfectly and trust me, this is NOT always the case with some of the other doctors. Also, all the staff members are super friendly and accommodating. I was late to my appointment by 30 minutes (horrible traffic, I really tried my best). The turn around time for the glasses was much faster than I expected, I placed the order late Saturday afternoon and by next Friday they were already in. My new prescription was a huge improvement...I can actually see now!! After reading the other Yelpers rave about this place, I wanted to try them out because I was getting tired of my old optometrist who never had time to see me and made me reschedule if I was even a minute late for an appointment. I made the right choice. At Valley OP they were very nice and cordial. Everything was simple & easy. I didn't wait very long either. When I went to pick up my prescription, they even filled out the paperwork, so I could get a rebate, which I don't think my old place ever did or would have tried to even mention. It was my first visit there, and by the time I left an hour later, I felt like I had known Dr. K and the staff members forever. Diana helped me pick out my glasses as well, and despite my pickiness and wishy-washiness, she remained extremely helpful, thoughtful and encouraging throughout the process...and thanks to her, I am now a proud owner of the greatest pair of AX glasses (which were also very reasonable priced!) Great customer service. I had trouble getting contacts to fit me, they let me try out several pairs then came back once a week for a month so I could find the perfect fit. All for 110$- including eye exam for glasses and contacts plus the free trial pairs and 4 visits. I used 2 of the buy $10 get $25 dollar yelp coupons. Stylish selection of glasses but pricey. They do however let you buy more coupons to put towards you frames purchase. Limit two coupons at a time. read more

Dr. Andy is awesome, very thorough and personable. I like that he sends you home with a print out going over your exam and results. I also appreciate that he takes the time to show you a simulation or detailed picture on his computer explaining your diagnosis. I have suffered from chronic dry eyes and have a pretty high prescription, and every visit has been pleasant. The girls at the front desk are also very friendly and helpful especially when handling insurance and picking out frames for your particular face shape. I wouldn't recommend picking out your frames here as they tend to be slightly overpriced. read more

Great diamond in the rough of optometrist needs. Been going here for 2 years now for my whole family. They put you the whole kid glove treatment from reminder of your appointment 2 days out and when you get into the office, everyone is 100% professional. They even set up my appointment for next year. I guess if I were to have any feed back, I'd like to see a greater selection of eyewear options. Keep in mind, a lot of people know about the diamond in the rough, so they can be busy at times, but I don't plan to go anywhere else for my family's eye care needs. read more

With so many excellent reviews, I had to go and try them out myself since I decided to change eye doctors. Everyone was so nice and I was definitely satisfied with the experience. I was very comfortable and was impressed with the technology as well as the doctor's "1 or 2" tests. Side by side! Come on.. now why didn't other machines do that! The doctor informed me of what conditions I had in letter format which is very informative. I used the Yelp coupon towards my transaction with ease. My contacts were even cheaper than Costco's.
