Wow. Times have changed. I LOVE Fred's so I'm sad to report this, but they've lost me. Just…read morepurchased almost 12 lbs. of picanha for $14.99 a pound. I asked for the four plates to be cut into steaks which I've done on occasion when feeling lazy on 10lb+ orders, but this time seemed different and they kept all the points -- the plate is a triangle. I didn't realize that they'd keep so much of the "trimmings" so I went from 11.88lbs to just over 9 which means they kept just over 2.5 lbs which presumably goes into their ground beef. Works out to $20 a lb for me. I did have a pleasant FB messenger conversation with someone, but I've been a member at Costco for 20 years (kept my membership active) so I'll be going back to them full time. My advice to customers. Ask for the trimmings if you're asking them to butcher any meat product. Especially picahna which is super easy to do. My advice to Fred's. Ask the customers if they want the trimmings.

I have visited Farmer's Indian Market twice, and walked out both times without buying anything. I'm…read morean adventurous shopper so this is unusual for me. The prices for produce are high and the organization of the aisles baffles me. This time I had a plan: a short list of specific needs from the Asian Market on Central which I hoped I could find here instead. But daikon was too expensive, a tub of peeled garlic was not in sight and I did not have the patience to search for wheat starch or Pantai brand fish sauce. All that said, it's still a four star experience. First for the experience of seeing many Muslim families shopping together on a Friday, and particularly the happy customers waiting at the busy halal butcher when their orders are delivered. Second for the depth of product which challenges the casual shopper but lets me know this would be a good source for a very specific product, like an obscure fruit or vegetable or one of the dozens of middle eastern flatbreads on offer. The labneh section alone deserves an award for brand diversity. Like it or not, I know I'll be back and am glad we have Farmer's Indian Market in our community.

I worry about its survival because the location sucks. Ramesh is a small West Indian Grocery Store, that carries processed goods, along with some produce and meat. The fresh produce section is somewhat limited, but they do have the staples like some ground provision and hot peppers. They only had habaneros, while other West Indian stores would have two or three varieties of hot peppers. C'est la vie. Ramesh does shine when it comes to procesed goods, pepper sauce, jerk marinade, casareep, dried sorrel etc. This is undoubtedly their strong point, and the best reason for making the trek to this store. They also sell meat, they have advertised specials but I was not sure when I would get home and did not check out these offerings. A worthy try, it would be good if it was in a better area.

The fresh produce had obviously seen better days, and their baked goods are of lesser quality than another store just up the road. The store itself is well stocked with sauces and spices, and frozen fish and meats, but their prices are a bit steep. $3.99 for a 16oz bottle of casreep is a bit hard to swallow, but yet frozen lamb at under $4 a pound was pretty decent. If you need a hard to find West Indies spice or want some frozen fish and/or meat this place is great. But for bakery items and fresh produce go elsewhere.
