Unfortunately, my own experience didn't live up to that reputation. As a transplant recipient, I called to schedule an appointment and was prepared to pay entirely out of pocket. I was upfront about my health history immediately and shared that I did not believe I would need surgery or drastic intervention but wanted to take preventive steps to take care of some issues that had come up. Then, after giving the office access to my records I was told my case wouldn't be taken on specifically because of my complex medical history. I understand every provider has the right to decide which cases fall within their comfort zone, but it was disheartening to be turned away specifically because of health circumstances that led to needing periodontal care in the first place? I'd have appreciated more transparency about what specifically made my case a concern, being told upfront when I disclosed my health history that Dr. Astolfi does not work with patients who have complex medical conditions, or even a referral to someone equipped to treat patients like myself. Patients navigating complex medical situations are often the ones who most need to find a provider willing to work with them, not around them. It's not. i was going to a different dentist, in Emmaus, PA, where the oral hygienist essentially tortured me (I even have an injury on the root of a tooth from their hostile scaling technique, though there's no hope of getting their admission of it). I started scaling my own teeth to reduce this feeling of being brutalized at semiannual cleanings, and it made no difference at all. At Antonis' office, I said "Wow, you barely did anything with the hook". The hygienist admitted "you basically did all the work". This taught me that my other hygienist was not doing anything sensible and had only been scraping mindlessly. I'll never go back to them, but I WOULD go back to Antonis' people. I told the receptionists how impressed I was with the gentleness of Antonis' hygienists. The one receptionist said "Oh I know, I love them here!" She then told an oral hygienist anecdote of her own, from her own prior dentist. When she somewhat shyly complained about her hygienist, to the receptionist at her old dental office, the dentist happened to be within hearing distance and said "What? She's been warned before about that" and the dentist walked back and fired the woman on the spot. So let this be a lesson to you: if you're putting up with an oral hygienist abusing your mouth during cleanings, this is NOT normal. Try the hygienists at Mark Antonis' office. I had two different ones and both were gentle. Note, this was circa 2006. I don't know if the same hygienists are there today.

Perio cleaning can be painful, best case scenario is to get it done quick. Fast forward and Loraine is gone. Replaced by a much, much less experienced hygienist. I only needed the bottoms cleaned. The top had a temporary, as I was in the process of getting implants. I told her, but she evidently didn't understand and she started scrapping at the temporary and disrupted an implant. I am still shaky, ashamed, humiliated and traumatized; I thought I got hit by a truck after I left his office. My story with his office began on 11/22/22. I called his office and they got my insurance information. I got a call back from them that my co-pay would be $37 for my first consultation with him. After my consultation with him, he recommended braces for me because I had a receding gum on one front tooth and it started to slide down. I also have an implant on tooth number eight. I asked him if the braces was the best treatment for me although I have an implant, have Osteoporosis and I am 56 years old. He said he's 100% sure that the braces would be the best option for me to fix the problem. I went ahead with his recommendations and I got braces. I went for my second visit with the ortho, and I was told my four front teeth started to get loose, especially the implanted tooth. The ortho removed the braces from the implant and gave me a referral to go back to see the periodontist who had recommended the braces to check the implant out. I called the periodontist office and automatically my name was flagged because I have osteoporosis, therefore they won't be able to see me as per the periodontist. He recommended braces yet he did not want to deal with any issues. After conversing back-and-forth, I managed to get an appointment for April 21, 2023. A week after I made this appointment I got a bill from them that I already settled with them and paid my co-pay when I was there last visit. I went ahead and called my insurance to find out why I received this bill. The insurance representative told me that probably they put the wrong code. She said next time you go there make sure to tell them to change the code from last visit and put the right code. On April 21, I got to the office and I met with his assistant who looked miserable. I told her what the insurance told me she looked at me and said "your insurance is asking us to commit fraud, you need to settle this issue with the front office" and I said no problem. I also told her that the periodontist already knows I have osteoporosis, a receding gum and a tooth implant from the previous visit but still recommended the braces for me and now my four front teeth are all loose so I need to know what to do next. I don't know what the assistant told him, but he came to the room very angry. He started interrogating me for 20 minutes about the insurance, and kept saying with a clenched fist how angry he is with insurance in general.I waited for this appointment for almost 4 weeks I apologized to him many times; I said "please forgive me" and "I'm very sorry". I said "please have mercy and just see what's going on with my teeth". When his assistant told me that I should solve the insurance problem with the front desk, I thought the subject was closed with the insurance.I was stunned because I have never seen a doctor so angry about discussing insurance issues during the consultation with a patient. "Satan from hell " not only did he deny my right of treatment, but he was beyond rude. The money and greed made him unable to distinguish between right and wrong on one hand; on the other hand he knows he messed up by recommending braces for me which can cause me to lose my four front teeth. He doesn't want to take responsibility for his mistake therefore he treated me with the worst possible way that no human being deserves. His assistant came and said here is your paper work go to another periodontist. At this point, I felt hopeless and I started crying because this periodontist gave me an incorrect diagnosis and delayed my treatment plus his misconduct forced me to call the police. We went to another dentist who was amazed at the poor procedure and didn't even know what material was used. The X-Rays show the cheap amalgam fillings but the look of it shows Resin. It seems they used a cheap filler, drilled too far, then topped it with Resin to cover the fact they used ancient, cheap practices. I'm furious. They deserve to be fined or investigated. I now have almost $3000 in dental costs for 3 teeth due to their malpractice. I wish I had someone to call but upon investigation, I can't find a regulatory committee to report them too. The only way we can end their practices is to end their practice. Don't go.

I found Serenity by google as I needed to find a new provider since moving from NJ. I chose this provider because they were flexible, the additional services provided a luxe experience and the customer service representatives were friendly and helpful. I completed my files ahead of time electronically which was great and made check in easy. The day of my appointment, I was greeted by a woman with an amazing smile and top notch personality. Immediately I felt like I needed to be here. They are currently undergoing renovations as this is the secondary location, however the front end of the office looks superb. When brought to the back rooms for dental work is where the atmosphere is dated and not the same as the newly renovated office or the STROUDSBURG location. My cleaning with Clara? and exam with Dr. Taormina was amazingly thorough, however my experience lacked what I was essentially looking for and could have received at the other location. This is the only reason why I gave 4 stars and look forward to my 6 month exam when everything will be completed and brand new! Again- I loved everything and everyone, just a little sad that I didn't get the full Serenity experience. Thanks again!

When we were going to leave they suddenly had appointments the next day for me and two days later for my wife. Okay! I was to have a wisdom tooth pulled before leaving Florida by my dentist at Gulf Coast Smiles. I needed a new filling and a deep cleaning too. Broad Street Dental is sending me to a periodontist for the cleaning because their Hygienist is busy till October, 2019 with cleanings. Really?? Their sending me to an oral surgeon to pull a wisdom tooth??? Really? My dentist in Florida was willing to pull it no oral surgeon needed. When I asked the doctor why I need an oral surgeon, she said maybe he is more experienced. Really? I was with my wife for her visit. While waiting for her in their office - on the referrals, I asked if they are, "In Network" referrals. They said they didn't know, I should call them and if not in network, they will provide another referral. Really? Why didn't they find out if referral was , "In Network", before dishing them out. There are 2-4 people behind the counter gabbing, yet they don't have the time to provide, "In Network", referrals. Really? After I said okay, they made the calls for me. After going to an Oral Surgeon for Wisdom Extraction, and a Periodontist for the cleaning, I can then go back for the new filling. The feeling (which is important) is that they are so busy and so overbooked, their doing us a favor taking us as clients. Really?
