Whether it's day or night, 1980, 2020, or 2040, the Valley Hotel is open for you. A classic diner that is the only 24/7 spot in Palmer. Anytime you're craving classic diner food, hungry after a late night out, or in need of a hangover cure, I recommend the Valley Hotel. Special thank you to Kira for the excellent service! read more

Food is typical diner fare but you have to detonate a depth charge in this place to get service. A guy at the next table waiting longer than 15 minutes in a near empty dining room finally put his coat on when the waitress finally noticed him. As he left he asked her, "hey, do you know any place around here to eat?" There's a McDonalds about 3 blocks away. Go there. read more

I've always been treated well and the food is delicious especially around breakfast time. My 2nd go-to place when I'm craving chicken fried steak and eggs. They also make a decent pizza to order if they're still doing that...yes, I would recommend to friends and family visiting. read more

The Valley Hotel: Where Dreams Go to Die If you're ever in the mood for an apocalyptic dining experience where your taste buds are assaulted, your patience obliterated, and your stomach sent to the ER, The Valley Hotel is the perfect destination! Let's start with the food--or should I say, culinary abomination. I ordered the "special," which I can only assume was a crime against humanity disguised as a meal. My steak was so overcooked it could have doubled as a brick for a medieval castle. And the sides? A cold, soggy pile of what looked like yesterday's leftover sadness. I wouldn't feed this to my worst enemy. The service? If you enjoy being ignored for hours while your server scrolls through Instagram, then you'll love it here! I tried to get our waiter's attention, but apparently, making eye contact is a lost art. When they finally graced our table with their presence, it was like we were inconveniencing them with the audacity to exist. I half-expected them to hand me a mop and ask me to clean the table.Cleanliness? HA. This place makes a gas station bathroom seem like a five-star spa. There was enough grease on the floor to start a small fire, and I'm pretty sure I saw something scurry across the floor--either a rat or a tiny employee who escaped from the kitchen dungeon. The silverware looked like it had been used in a science experiment gone horribly wrong, and the glasses had so many fingerprints, I could probably unlock someone's phone with them. In short, The Valley Hotel is where joy, hope, and good hygiene go to die. Avoid this place like it's a zombie outbreak, because frankly, you'd probably have a better time surviving one. read more

Didn't stay here but stopped in for breakfast. The diner area is clean and bright. Their breakfast menu is extensive and you good amount of food for the money. The pancakes and eggs I had were well made and hit the spot. Service was average. They have several pies and cakes on rotation as well. read more

Come for comfort food and plenty of it at very affordable (and precise) prices. Stay for the exceptional, hometown service. VaHo is always on my list of visits when I'm in town. Prime Rib and corn fritters with honey butter on Saturday nights too! read more

Staff is super friendly and helpful. Price is very reasonable, and it's nice that they have a restaurant that's open 24/7.

Good food and decent service. Only thing that would raise the stars would be to bring the old ranch back!

we love the food here it mak us feel like were getting a homemade supper at moms . The meals are delicious the wait staff super friendly. We are so happy we found this place! We have never been disappointed yet! read more

I've been here a few times and each time cements my decision to not come back... I can deal with the basic uninteresting food however, when paired with bad customer service I just can't bring myself to happily fork over my $$$. Like, be nice people! It's cost $0 bucks. So yeah.. bad food and bad customer service plus a long wait is just not my scene. read more

Shayla is always a super awesome and attentive waitress!!! My only complaint is the ranch used to be amazing and now it is SO BAD. it's so bad I don't even want to come here anymore. I'm begging you, PLEASE bring back the old ranch. PLEASE!!!! read more

To me this is typical 24 hr diner food. For long-time Palmer people this is where you run into friends & relatives at lunch time. The food is ok if you need late night food after everything else is closed in town. I've heard both good & bad comments on their pizza, but have not tried it myself. Have heard great things about their corn chowder. We looked at one of the "remodeled/updated" hotel rooms last month when looking for a place in Palmer for my in-laws. We ended up choosing for them to stay at the Colony Inn instead. The rooms are the Valley hotel are small and dated. On the other hand staff for both the hotel & the cafe are super friendly. read more

We got the hot chicken pizza. I love the idea of a cream cheese, jalapeño & chicken pizza, but this wasn't great. The crust was a strange texture, there was barely any chicken or cream cheese on it and it made me and my mom feel a bit ill. Unfortunately, the majority of staff were also not wearing masks. This might not be a big deal for some, but I think it is definitely worth mentioning. Also, it was kind of spendy for a pizza that tasted and felt like it was sitting on a hot plate. read more

Uhm, I have a special place in my heart for dives but this restaurant felt like the child I keep *wanting* to love. Even the greasy diner fare wasn't good. I'm giving them an extra star just because the servers were all really nice and helpful. If you like Velveeta on your burger, go here. Otherwise, I hear that the Turkey place across the street is really good but they were closed when we were in town. read more

It is cheap food in a typical diner setting. The waitstaff are wonderful and cheerful, and the food portions are huge. I had this lovely old native lady that sure could sling food, coffee, and a smile without breaking a sweat. I ordered a breakfast item that came with rye toast (my choice), eggs over easy, hashbrowns, and reindeer sausage, all for about $10. My friend got the same thing except got the pancakes instead of toast and hashbrowns. We couldn't finish the food, so I would recommend smaller portions because of all the food waste. I don't know anyone under 250# that could finish meals this size. I feel this is a great place for breakfast when passing through Palmer. read more

There was really not much else open but this place. It's a motel/diner that's open really really late. This is somewhere to stop only if every other option is exhausted and you simply need to sober up. At least they had fries and coffee though. read more

Smokefree dining at last! Delicious food, great atmosphere, great service. Valley Cafe is a terrific diner! Had delicious berry cake with mascarpone cheese icing, with fireweed and honey ice cream. Avert your eyes, this is a drunkard crash pad. There was a wing chair in the room that looked like it had been garbage picked after being rained on, the fabric on the arms was worn through and my imagination went wild over the stains. There was no way we were touching the bed if they thought that chair was acceptable. Do yourself a favor, drive the 12 miles to Wasilla and stay at the A & W Windbreak, infinitly cleaner and half the price! read more

We are in town from Tucson. Yippee! We have been here for breakfast, and 2 dinners. It's a busy place, our first breakfast the ticket came back from the kitchen for a clarification and we jumped back about four tables, when we got our food it was fresh and hot. The waitresses are so nice. The food is good, as one reviewer said large portions, and I am over 250#. Clean plate club diner, yep that's me, and quite a few other patrons here. Good food at pretty standard Alaska prices. My Aunt and Uncle go here quite a bit - Monica calls her mom and Monica was so fun to talk with! She has been a World traveler and she has a beautiful singing voice, she sings Kenny Rogers! Good food, the service keeps pace with the kitchen- other reviewers- if you want crispy bacon order it that way. Busy tables busy kitchen. I am sure we will be back at least once more in the next 7 days. read more

Really surprised by this little place. Late night front desk staff were kind, professional and willing to help. The room was small yet was exactly what we need. It was clean comfortable and pack with amenities. There was no view to speak of but the room had a large lovely window letting in lots of natural light. Ceiling fan, air conditioner, mini fridge, wifi, and a 24 hour full service restaurant down stairs. The cinnamon rolls were yummy and service good she handled being busy & we didn't wait long at all. The only downside was the place was busy and only had one server dealing with the obnoxious guests beside us. And don't let me forget to mention the bed was amazing, the pillows even better. This spot gets a 5 based on what you get for what you pay where your staying. Perfect spot. read more

Didn't eat there. Hotel is minimally ok. Clean. People are nice. But rooms are small, dated, and worn. Linens are new and nice, it's the space that is worn out. Decor is from dead grandma yard sales and repairs to the room are done without regard. For example, one light sconce is gold and one is white. The black tv cable line that runs along the ceiling was unsuccessfully painted white to make it less conspicuous. Plus with the 24 hr cafe, and restrooms in the same hall as guest rooms, the slamming doors makes for a poor nights sleep. read more

Don't order bacon and eggs.... I wrapped the greasy uncooked bacon in the napkin for my dog, and left the rest of the crap on the table... Like someone else said...useful at 2:00 am when trying to sober up. 2 stars instead of one because they have IPA on tap in back. read more

I come here often and it's always a cozy, warm place to talk and eat with my friends, family, etc. The service is wonderful, the food is outstanding, and I've not had a problem in all the times I've been there. The waiters are hilarious, and polite, and may I add, James, who services the booths next to the windows, is fantastic, so you should sit there during his working hours. 7/23/11 -Rachel Aviators read more

I am giving it an extra star because I am a fan of this place. Years ago me and my husband walked out of the place because the service sucked. Now, as noted by nearly every reviewer the service is stellar. In fact, as reviewer Lard Belly already noted, that Native lady that can run to the kitchen and get your salad while your kids are still deciding what they want? That's my husband's cousin from Unalakleet! We stopped here on a very snowy Thanksgiving night on the way home from a movie in Anchorage. They were open and serving a traditional turkey feast for about $13 with drink and pie. (They have homemade pies). We had skipped Thanksgiving at our house (we had it early because the spouse was only home from working up north the previous week - common for Alaskans). Still... the kids and I longed for a real turkey dinner. We found it here. It was 7 pm and they still had plenty of food - green bean casserole, yams, rolls and butter. It wasn't the best meal ever but only because the gravy was the canned kind - but it was decent. We've been back since for burgers and fries and they are okay too. I prefer it to any of the Wasilla diners because the service is better. The ladies are nice here without being aggressively nice or borderline rude (none of them are like Flo, more of them are like Alice). And yes, upscale Turkey Red is across the street. It's like comparing apples to baseballs though folks. It's THAT different, so don't even try to compare them. This is a typical sourdough type Alaskan diner. Also, the hotel's lobby has a great collection of model trains and a giant stuffed wolf. I didn't think it looked like a hang out for drunks but I suppose every once in awhile it happens. It's Alaska...afterall. read more

I came here for last Sunday for brunch with my roommate, and it was exactly what I was looking for! Pancakes, hash browns and scrambled eggs - this wasn't a dish, but a combo I created from side dishes. Everything tasted and looked very fresh. Our waitress was great, very quick and she kept the coffee flowin! I really enjoyed the sunny dining room with large windows and big cummfy booths. Being new to Alaska, I still suffer from sticker shock when it comes to eating out, but in all, I thought the prices here were reasonable, especially given the atmosphere and service. I could definitely see this becoming an every-other-Sunday breakfast spot :) read more

Went here my first official day as an Alaskan resident after the suggestion of my sister in law. Did not realize it was so late with the midnight sun. Went with my husband and two small kids. No real kids section on the vast menu. My husband had the chili and Rueben sandwich no complaints but rarely are there any. I had the meatloaf special. It was great perfect portion not over cooked or crispy on the outside it was dense and flavorful and tasted homemade and my milkshake was great. My 4 yr old ate his entire burger so that's a plus in my book. I was thinking diner but the prices are restaurant in the $15+ range. Service was great and plenty of large oversized booths with great window views. read more

We used to eat here regularly, but then I ordered Eggs Benedict and got thin sliced deli meat in place of Canadian bacon, when I pointed that out to the waitress I told her that I was hungry and would eat it, that I just wanted the kitchen to know that I knew the difference. She came back and said that the "boss" said that it was Canadian bacon and that they slice it themselves. I am not an idiot and I have eaten good and bad eggs benedict. I also recognize deli meat. So basically they lost a loyal customer over a $13-14 meal. That by the way I did not ask for a refund on. Paid the check and left. NO PROBLEM. read more

Their menu is very substantial in the amount of options they offer. I've always enjoyed the breakfast, the cheeseburger & fries are good but their Philly with onion rings is where it's at, with that being said I would be leary of those less popular items as they could have been around awhile. read more

I grew up in Palmer this was always the place to meet or end or both lol and it was a great place with friendly people. The constant remodels and price increases is a bit extreme (what happened to the historical value in this place?) I have had several bad visits within the last year, seems like they're just hiring anyone and not people who care to do their job. We were ignored throughout our dinning so the girls gossip about life and others, meanwhile we were only 1 of 3 tables, took close to 10mins for 1st waitress to bring menus (she had forgot the waters and would be right back 5min later) our drinks to anothe 10 mins to get, our food order took forever, no drinks relished except upon request, to ask for side sauces placed with order, and waitress rushed us to pay as she was getting off shift and didn't want to handed over to another waitress. I have left notes for the manager/owner in the past and never have heard back from. It is a shame that there are not other places that are open as late as this establishment. read more

I'm never coming back! I have eaten at the hotel for the last 20 plus years, however the last few years the food and service has just gotten worse and worse. The last 4 or 5 times I've had the same waitress screw up my order and this time the food was barely edible. DONE!!!! read more

Don't order the soup, it comes from a can. Don't order the salad, it comes from a bag. Don't order a brownie, it comes from a box. Known to locals as the V-Ho, our local greasy spoon. Good, hearty comfort food in downtown Palmer. You can't go wrong here for breakfast, lunch or dinner, if your expectations are calibrated. Expect big, heavy portions with typically high Alaskan prices. Fries and burgers are great here, and surprisingly the pizza is good. read more

Finding cheap hotels in Alaska in June is nearly impossible, but this place was good and cheap.

We had a great experience at the Valley hotel. My husband and niece and I ended up in Palmer unexpectedly and were desperate to find a late night restaurant anywhere in the vicinity that was open. We needed to find a place to sleep, too, and I found the Valley hotel online. We went right there and were thrilled that they had an available room on such late notice being the 4th of July. The price was quite inexpensive, and the room was so cute and cozy with a bit of Alaskan style to it. We were comfortable right away, and made our way to the 24 hour cafe, which had a full menu available. My niece had pancakes, I got the french dip, and my hubby had a burger. Everything was great, (except for my niece's bacon, which was a bit leathery) and the service was excellent too. We had a great nights sleep, and then I had a wonderful shower which had the most AMAZING water pressure I have enjoyed in a very long time! I wish I could have taken the shower head home with us! The neighborhood was really cute and safe feeling, and we enjoyed taking our dogs (which slept in the car) for a couple of walks around the area. I would definitely come back here again. read more

I ordered 2 pizzas on Sunday morning and spent 63$ on 2 pizzas from the very first interaction to the last my experience was atrocious. It started with their horrible customer service. I asked questions regarding their menu and the lady was very rude, short and acted as if I was burdening them by asking questions. I continued to be pleasant ordered my food which was 2 Large Pizzas one with garlic sauce pepperoni and feta cheese and the second one was a large pizza with everything cuz I had absolutely no help from their CSR. I reluctantly ordered whatever but When I recieved my pizzas they were not hot (I'm staying literally 5 min. from their establishment) they were soggy and just plain disgusting. Now because of my previous encounter with the employee I chose not to place a call until later that evening and was able to speak to Leah (whom happenes to be pleasant and helpful, well as much as possible) I called back on Tuesday because apparently the owner was to busy celebrating the holiday weekend (later I was informed that har husband served our country and takes that holiday extremely serious, btw thank you to him and all of our servicemen). I then spoke to Samantha Tuesday evening and again she was also as helpful as she could be but when I finally spoke to the owner I was told that because she had called my phone 2x's and couldn't leave a message that my issue wasn't important enough to go ahead and research so she left the matter alone. Now today I called for the 4th time and some to the owner finally I explained everything that had taken place I was in no wax shape or form rude or disrespectful and informed the owner that I am leaving early morning to head back home for good and that I should appreciate this matter being resolved tonight but she in no way wanted to do so she decided to tell me that she can't do anything until I'm already gone because my issue was not pertinent enough for best to look into on the day that she received my complaint. I then spoke to my other half and asked what to do and her answer was to put it on social media and as the owner heard me say that she immediately realized get close and told me that she waded going to call the police on me for threatening har. Now I told get that I did not in any way shape or form threaten bodily injury or harm on her and that she was more than welcome to call the local law enforcement to inform them of my choice to put my interaction with their establishment on social media and how the owner/company did not want anyone to know how terrible mine and my family's dining exoerience was and unfortunately for her that I am within my civil rights. I am literally appalled at the fact that this lady in no way wanted to help me before my departure and how I was more than willing to just have my meal replaced but because she didn't even tru to call today I wanted my money back but instead this is where I ended up. So please think twice about eating and or staying at a place like that in my opinion, which again is MY OPINION AND MINE ALONE AMONG WITH MY FAMILIES, hou should rethink spending any of your hard earned money st a place that could care less about how their service really is. read more
