We stayed for 11 nights during the Christmas holidays for relative visiting and general tourist-ing…read moreand had a great stay. The location is in an ultra-quiet neighborhood 2 blocks from downtown Palmer. Suite 12 had an excellent view of a snowy field, mountains and even the decorated Palmer water tower. There is very little traffic on the roads around the units. Palmer is a easy 50 minute drive from downtown Anchorage. Great central location for seeing the sights that is away from the big city. Suite 12 had everything we needed and was clean. No need to post shots since their website had mondo-pictures that were exactly as we received. There was enough kitchen utensils and pans to get us by, including the required pod coffee maker. The unit was clean with newer appliances. The living room couch is a sleeper, so a family with kids would fit just fine. For the two of us it was excellent and the master bed was comfy. Both rooms had TV's with a plethora of viewing apps. We appreciated the apt size washer dryer compete with soap since sloshing thru the snow gets you wet. Since there is no maid service it is nice to freshen up the towels or sheets. The only negative is the washer is very noisy and the neighbors woke us up when we were trying to sleep in, one morning. It snowed several times during our stay, and the management kept the walk ways swept, which was appreciated. The units are 'motel style' with a roof covering most walkways. The path to our cars and trash was even cleared, which was no easy feat considering the snowfall received. They kept the brooms and shovels out so we could brush off our car easily.

We needed to find a place to sleep, too, and I found the Valley hotel online. We went right there and were thrilled that they had an available room on such late notice being the 4th of July. The price was quite inexpensive, and the room was so cute and cozy with a bit of Alaskan style to it. We were comfortable right away, and made our way to the 24 hour cafe, which had a full menu available. My niece had pancakes, I got the french dip, and my hubby had a burger. Everything was great, (except for my niece's bacon, which was a bit leathery) and the service was excellent too. We had a great nights sleep, and then I had a wonderful shower which had the most AMAZING water pressure I have enjoyed in a very long time! I wish I could have taken the shower head home with us! The neighborhood was really cute and safe feeling, and we enjoyed taking our dogs (which slept in the car) for a couple of walks around the area. I would definitely come back here again.

My family and I were looking for extended-stay lodging from Feb 1st - April 1st 2021. We were…read moremoving to Alaska from the lower 48, and needed a place to live while in the process of purchasing a house. I had contacted Karen Harris, the owner of Alaska Garden Gate BnB, in December 2020 and secured our reservation for an extended stay. Karen informed me in late January 2021 that it was possible the property would sell during our reservation dates, but that she was doing everything she could to ensure current guests could stay as long as possible, and that future reservations were honored. We checked into the Cottonwood Cottage on Feb. 1st. 2021 with no problems. During our stay, we were given notice that both property appraisals and inspections were taking place and were asked for our patience and understanding. I had email Karen multiple times to clarify our reservation and status of the property's ownership. Karen again responded that the contract and sale had not been finalized and she would let me know. On the morning of February 10th, Karen called to informed me that we needed to vacate the property within 24 hrs due to the sale of the property. Karen stated that the new owners were not going to continue with a BnB business, and that they required all long-term tenants and short terms guests to leave immediately. We complied with the abrupt request and thankfully found alternative lodging the same day. However, we were subsequently charged extra nights through Feb 13th. While a refund was provided for those extra nights; based on Alaska Garden Gate BnB's February 19th Facebook post, they are actively taking reservations through March 16th. While Alaska Garden Gate BnB will no longer be an active business come March 16th, I would not recommend any individual to do current or future business with an owner and company who treats their guests with such blatant disrespect and deceit.

We checked before arriving in, on check-in timings and other details to make sure we get the keys and other things in case if we get delayed. We took room for 4 people, so it came with double bunk beds with one bottom queen with rest single beds. Room was decent side with modern bathroom in an apartment style. Also, it came with shared kitchen with table, microwave and coffee maker. Dining hall was set up in a ballroom environment with round tables and chairs around it. Also, outdoor dining area is also available. Homemade breakfast is served: * hot oatmeal and blueberries with additional side toppings available - nuts, almonds, sugar, raisins and cranberries - loved it ! * egg omelette with potato stuffed - again loved it * muffins - not well cooked, felt like it was under baked and needs more cooking Other than that, regular store-bought bread with butter, jam was also served. The only complaint is in the morning there were too much noise as rooms are layed out next to each other with very little space which can be annoying if you decide to sleep in little more than others, we can hear people shouting and bathroom noise as well. We would totally come in here any time during our next Alaska trip and recommend it to others.
