Good value for your money. We checked in so that we could attend the Alaska State Fair. Room was handicapped accessible, had a large kitchen area, and roomy king-sized bed. Our view was that of the parking lot from the second floor, which was fine. We had driven from Soldotna and stopped on the way, so we needed a nap to refresh. There was no "front desk", but we were given a key by one of management. The lack of security was a little frightening, but my brother reassured us this is the way this hotel operates. We were asked if we needed additional towels, and I didn't think we needed more than what was provided. Overall the place was clean, quiet, and the bed comfortable. Our only complaint was that the hot water in the shower took FOREVER to reach the shower. If you like cold water, you would have loved it! read more

The hotel automation will lock you out. We stayed one. Night and asked to extend. All communication was done by house phone from a vacant front desk. Upon changing rooms I attempted to make two trips to carry up one floor without an elevator. I was locked out of original room and the call center couldn't get me back in. Walking up and down stairs several times, put on hold for long period. All I got was "I apologize ". Finally, the housekeeper was sent to desk and she got me in. Very frustrating. read more

Here's the deal, this is absolutely a no frills place. But it was priced accordingly. Clean room. Low cost. And there is a coin op laundry on the second floor. $2 for each wash and dry, totally worth it for me. No one at the desk, ever. But for $115 a night and right in downtown Palmer where I needed to be, I'd go again. read more

I am a guest in this Hotel right now. This is my second night and I extended my stay 5 more nights. The hotel is under new management. The new European owners from Macedonia, doing a great job. I'm staying on the 3rd floor, Hugh balcony and perfect view to mountains. This is the best hotel I ever stayed anywhere in Alaska. The town called Palmer, which is very quite little city, and the hotel is in a great location in this town. Supermarket, Starbucks, restaurant, bars are very closed to the place. The rooms are big, and nice. The beds are clean and smells good. Large TV lots of channels. Fells good to stay here. It's 5 star from me! If I come back to Alaska I'm sure I'll stay here. The Eagle Hotel was a MISERABLE experience! We got the king suite. It was filthy, we found cockroaches, a bunch of flies, the heater didn't work and neither did the hot water! I spoke to the maid and she mentioned that the hotel had issues with not only roaches, but with mice as well! Not only that, she mentioned the manager, who also lived there, was very sick from asbestos exposure! That's not all folks, I woke up the next morning with a gross pimple-like growth on my arm after sleeping in their bed!! The maid and the manager also both had growths on their skin (the maid on her nose and the manager on his neck). Thankfully it healed!! I did my best to get a refund with no luck! The manager wasn't even apologetic about my terrible experience! He just refused to give my money back and said there wasn't anything he was able to do! There's also NEVER anyone at the front desk! You have to make a phone call and wait for someone to show up. I have more to say, but I'll just leave it at that. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL NO MATTER WHAT!! The room itself was fine - clean, with comfortable beds and a good coffee pot. It was so hot in there, though. The cord on the provided window fan didn't reach a plug, and the ceiling fan only worked when the entry light was on. The front desk is never staffed; you have to call a thoroughly unpleasant woman (literally sighed and told me she didn't think there was anyone who could help me get back into my room when I realized I forgot something at checkout). My husband and I stayed here last weekend for an overnight, we have stayed here once before about a year ago. To be honest I don't remember the first time, other than I liked the balcony. The decor is outdated, very large bedroom furniture but it was a very large room. It was pretty warm in the room, we opened the door to the balcony to cool down, but I also didn't bother with the thermostat seeing as we were only there overnight. The manager, McKayla (sorry if that's spelt wrong) was very nice upon both check in and check out. She made sure we had everything we needed and asked if we enjoyed our stay. It's not a glamorous hotel but it was clean and roomy and we'd definitely stay again. As for the restaurant we did not dine there so I don't know anything about that. read more

Addendum: Re-name this place the yo-yo inn. I've never seen an establishment go up and down this fast and frequently. When I wrote this review they were great- and that changed in a hurry. They changed management it seemed, staff turned over, and it went down hill fast. The last time we went there, staff were on cell phones constantly, and kept parading their dogs through the building. I'm a dog person, but I don't want to see them where I eat, handled by the people serving me. Sad. More than a hotel, this is a great little pub and restaurant in downtown Palmer. They serve the local brewery Arkose beer, host live bands and events, and have a great atmosphere with many flatscreen TVs for sports viewing. read more

Was told by 2 employees, when I checked out, that I paid for an extra day and that they would have it reversed. It's now Oct. 20 and the credit still has not been applied to my account. Have called 4 times and getting nowhere. A little frustrating!!!! CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS FOR THE DAYS CHARGED!!!!! Still a nice place to stay but, beware! This was my home here in Alaska for 2 weeks. The staff here, all of them, are super friendly and made me feel very welcome and comfortable here. Here's the deal. This place is not super fancy and, if you're here to be catered to and have someone at your every whim when you need something - you're at the wrong place. "Fancy" is outdoors! Is that not the reason you're in Alaska? This is a place to sleep. For that, this wonderful place will serve you well. Room #306 is THE BEST. Awesome mountain view from the balcony. People are going have to change their sign down the street BECAUSE this "This iS THE B E S T BURGER IN TOWN" Their bar food at night from 9 to 5 a.m. Is exactly the same it's wonderful. Build your own burgers and build your own pizza YUM!!!! And to my surprise they have the NFL package and free food Sunday Monday and Thursday in the lounge.. I got to say they're working on the service but remember ... Update upon checkout: no one at the front desk still. Starting at the check-in: reservations for 3 rooms were made about 7-8 months ago. Showed up tonight and had to wait approximately 20 minutes (while calling the two listed numbers at the front desk) for someone to show up to help us check in. It turns out that the person who finally started helping us was the housecleaning lady?! PS- she was not scheduled to be working. (We asked) We checked in just fine once she was able to figure out what was happening. Got keys to 3 different rooms. Problem: two keys are the ones that say 'Do Not Duplicate' and the third key looks like a house key (anyone could go make a copy at a locksmith)! Moving on... three of us are currently in a room on the third floor. It has a sliding door to a patio (aka roof) area shared with the other 5-6 rooms up here. There is no locking mechanism on the door and the deadbolt is broken! There is a wooden block to put down so the door won't slide open (or, y'know, someone walks in... because apparently different people in different rooms get mail here at a hotel?). Bathroom: the seat of the toilet doesn't actually match the size of the toilet, which by the way looks like a short bidet someone slapped a toilet seat onto. I went to use the bathroom, found no bar soap (just various shampoos, conditioners, and lotions), and found out we were almost out of toilet paper. (3 women, 1 room, 3 squares of toilet paper...). So, we called to the other rooms of our party (because the phone number sign was gone in the lobby and no one was there). When one of us went down to meet with someone else in our party to get more toilet paper (out of their room), there was someone at the desk! Asked for more toilet paper and was asked which room so he could make a note of it. So... your hotel sucks, security is non-existent, you are never at the front desk, and you're concerned about the housekeeper actually doing HER job instead of yours? This is all 3 hours into our 1-night stay. Oh yea, there is no restaurant/lounge/bar here anymore. read more

Looking for wonderful Italian fare at a reasonable price? Eagle Hotel Restaurant in Palmer has food worthy of a much more expensive Italian eatery (i.e: Campobello's or Villa Nova). We had heard the ads, but hadn't been here since the last hotel restaurant was here (after Denali Steakhouse abruptly moved to Anchorage), and had a so-so mealie that time. When we first went about a year ago, , I wrote this review, but apparently never posted it: Eagle Hotel Restaurant's food was everything it is advertised to be and at reasonable prices, too! We started with the appetizer sampler of perfectly cooked, tender calamari, mild wings that were crispy, but not greasy at all, and tasted freshly made, and mozzarella sticks that were also crispy and flavorful. Both entrées came with unlimited breadsticks (best i've had!) and salad with individual dressings. My husband had the entreé combo - lasagna, Alfredo and chicken parm. "It was excellent! The sauce wasn't too sweet and was bursting with Italian spices, but still well balanced. We went back last night, and the food is still great and the portions are huge, yet the most expensive thing on the menu was $20.95, with most things under $15.00! The appetizer sampler is a meal in itself, and the calamari was perfectly cooked in a light panko type breading. Mozz bites were crunchy on the outside, yummy and creamy on the inside. The steak was well seasoned, and the garlic mashed potatoes were better than some of the fancy places in Anchorage. Steaks are thin, so err on the side of less done than you usually get (medium rare was more towards medium well). read more

Entering the restaurant through the uninspiring hotel lobby, one then ventures into the dated, worn thin, and plain Jane restaurant space with lumpy booths and featureless walls. Slow service and a lack of local beer knowledge lends an un-encouraging start to the meal. However, once beyond these temporary short comings, one is treated to some focused attention to some fine food presentation and flavors. Getting beyond the lack of decor, one is treated to a fine, yet simple meal. Try the Turkey burger and home fries - juicy, tasty, well- seasoned, and satisfying. Long story short, there was a death in the family and because of a miscommunication with the lunch to be provided after the memorial service, we essentially were kicked out of the church because of an evening event taking place there. We had to quickly find a spot for 20 or so people to gather and have a potluck. No where had availabilities because it was Valentine's Day. We had amazing luck with this establishment. They offered us their banquet room at no cost and called in extra staff to work to provide dishes etc for our food, as well as an awesome bartender. They did an excellent job in our sad time of need and were so helpful during this difficult situation. read more

Love coming here when I need a small getaway. The rooms are spacious and affordable. The restaurant is nice and romantic. And the bar has everything you need! Nice wine list and local beers to choose from. To eat I ordered the pasta picante and my husband got the burger. Very delicious and under $30 bucks. I recommend trying this place out! read more

They tried to refuse to honor it, saying the business had changed management. Except that while we're sitting there we pulled the app up and showed them that they were still offering the deal. And our server was drunk and reeked of booze. And at ransom times he came over, sat in the booth across from us and just stared at us while we're trying to eat. Yeah, that's not at all awkward. I would highly recommend people avoid this place. There are just too many other GOOD food places in Palmer. read more

My husband and I stayed at the Eagle Hotel 4 out of the 7 days we were on vacation visiting from Michigan. Mrs. Jones, the manager, was extremely professional, nice, and attentive to our needs the entire time we were there. Each time we greeted each other, she asked how our stay was going -- we rarely had this experience at other hotels. Our room was very spacious, very quiet (which I loved), the temp was fine (there was a big window we could open if it became too warm), the view was gorgeous (mountain view), and we were right downtown so many places were within walking distance, including a small but lovely park right across the street. Also, the pricing for the room was much cheaper than others. I would recommend this hotel, not only because the room was adequate to our needs but because the staff was very professional, polite, and simply cared that our needs were met. read more

Overall terrible experience. The first night there, we (my wife, infant daughter, and I) found out that the keys on the second floor open multiple rooms when a group of drunken guests burst into our room at 2:00 AM. The room smelled of dampness, and the bathroom had mildew. When work issues disrupted my vacation, and we had to cut our stay short by ten days, they refused to grant even a partial refund-charging me over $1000 for a room they were able to rent to other guests. And in spite of my maintaining a very businesslike manner during my attempts to work through the issue, the manager hung up on me. Rude, unprofessional, poorly run establishment. read more

Went there for Colony Christmas in order to get warm and have lunch. I had a BBQ burger and the wife had a chicken club sandwich. The sandwiches were ok, the service somewhat responsive (though that might be because there was hardly anyone there). The french fries however, are downright ghastly. Overloaded with garlic to the point you want to retch. The wife and I both had to Listerine the taste out. Run-down, small menu, not that great food and not all that cheap either. Our room was extremely dirty when we arrived. There was hair and dirt all over the bathroom floor that stuck to our feet. We didn't walk around barefoot the rest of the stay. There was no toilet paper in the bathroom or any soap to wash our hands after we tracked down some toilet paper. I went to pick up my phone off the nightstand and my hand got stuck to the stand because there was some sticky gunk on it, and I didn't even have soap to go clean my hands.. It all made me wonder if our bed sheets, towels, or the shower were even clean. After all that, when we were finally ready to go to bed the music from the bar downstairs kept us up. Stay anywhere else in Palmer if you have a choice. read more

I did not like anything at all, I got there to check in and the front desk girl informed me they didn't have a room for me because someone over booked 8 rooms. Due to the overbooking, they sent us to another hotel telling me they were expecting us (also stated that hotel would be nicer and cleaner than this one), that hotel was not expecting us and was full also. There were no hotels with vacancy in Palmer or Wasilla, even Anchorage for that matter, tourist season, everything was booked. It was a horrible trip. Also no one from the hotel called to let me know of this mistake, they waited until we got there at 8:30 at night to tell us. We were tried from travel, and also traveling with 2 small children, and myself that is 7 months pregnant. They offered nothing to make it right, other to send us to another hotel with no vacancy as well. I'm just glad my card wasn't charged. read more

I was totally ready for this place to be fabulous.My friend and I went to support a new business that is also smoke free. It's been a long time since I was that disappointed. The service was awful! It took an hour for us to get our food. The place was virtually empty, one waitress, it was 12:45/1:00-ish, when we got there, so there was no lunch "rush." The menu is more like a business card, it is very limited! Then the food... Simply put, was an abomination. I ordered the chicken parmigiana sub, and the chicken was borderline burnt and all the way nasty. I ate the bread and marinara sauce. Not a big fan of fries, and there were no substitutions. My friend ordered an appetizer sampler of deep fried zucchini, cheese sticks and calamari. She took a bite of the calamari and just about gagged. She literally shuddered at the thought of another bite of it. She had a cheese stick, and her zucchini looked untouched at the end of our "meal." When she said she didn't want to get a to-go box, I asked if I could try some. Now, I must admit to having said many a time in my life that even a dog turd would taste good if it was DEEP FRIED. I was wrong. The cheese stick tasted... funny. The zucchini was so bad I had to spit it in my napkin. I think the fry max needed to be changed. It had a bad flavor, which could've been why my chicken was so bad. The service being awful was something I could blame on the place being new and not being in the groove yet. The service being slow, maybe. The food being that bad, I cannot blame on newness. The decor is nice, the silverware is shiny and matches. Those are the things the Eagle Restaurant has in its favor. We've lived in town for over a year and were given a Christmas gift (Groupon) for this restaurant. We've heard good reviews from other locals and decided to try it out. My, what an adventure! We arrived around 6pm, there are three tables occupied, one was a birthday party of about 10 people, the other was a group of 4. We seat ourselves in a quiet corner and the waitress comes over after about 5 minutes and apologizes for the wait. She also informs us that there are new cooks in the back, one on her first night without training; so we expect a slight delay in getting food. We roll with it and order drinks while starting to look over the menu. The drinks come back in about 5 minutes with an apology for being out of large glasses (seriously, the place is DEAD!). The sweet tea is watered down and undrinkable. We order about 10 minutes later and explain we have a Groupon. We are told that under the new management, they are not being honored, but we'd get a 25% discount on the meal. Ok, we can deal with that as the menu looks like it has a great selection. We order the sampler appetizer with calamari, mozzarella sticks and steak bites along with the main meal of a 10" pizza and a build your own burger (you know, the one that states it has a fresh baked bun). From where we are sitting, I can hear the cooks telling the waitress that they are out of steak bites along with several other . She then goes to each table that had ordered them and asks what items are to be substituted, so we get the fried zucchini. We also see that the tables are getting their orders piece meal, usually one or two plates at a time, with 10-15 minutes between orders coming out. The calamari arrives in a heavy fish batter about 30 minutes later. We are informed that the rest of the appetizer will be out shortly. It is a full saucer of calamari with a side of italian dressing and so we dig in (we've been here over 45 minutes already and were hungry when we arrived), and find that we have to pick off the breading to be able to eat it. After we finish, about 10 minutes later, we continue to wait another 10 minutes before the rest of the appetizers arrives. We get a decent plate of fried zucchini and 3 mozzarella sticks. Ok, this gets polished off in under 5 minutes. Cudo's for both the zucchini and mozzarella sticks. These are the best things we've had here all night. One of the new cooks comes out and apologizes personally to every table about the wait. She explains that it is her first night working in the back without any sort of training. She also asks what we are waiting on before heading back to the kitchen. This was a nice gesture. We wait about 30 minutes after the last appetizer arrives before the pizza arrives. It looks good, but we have to request a separate plate as it was just brought out on the pizza pan. My other half was happy to have her food, so I let her eat while I wait on my burger. Another 20 minutes go by and my burger arrives, we request ketchup for the fries and a box for the remaining pizza. The ketchup arrives promptly and I try a fry, nice seasoning and I look forward to enjoying the meal. Ok, now for the burger itself. It is not on a fresh baked bun, but a regular store packaged sesami bun. I can deal with it as I'm still hungry and would like to enjoy the burger. I had ordered well done and when I took the first bite, I bit into raw meat. I sliced off the bite with the provided knife to find a medium rare burger within 1" of the edge. I was not about to cut into the middle and find a barely seared raw piece of meat. Instead of waiting for the waitress to come back, I walk over with the plate and calmly let her know that it is not as ordered. I head back to my seat and after about 20 minutes wondering where the to go box for the pizza is and the recooked burger, she comes back apologizing about the service and lets us know that our check was voided in full. She states that what happened was uncalled for and apologizes profusely. I wonder if she did the same for the other table of 4 who was there longer than we were and appeared to receive the same level of piecemeal service. We thanked her for her assistance and left shortly after 8. We may try this place again in a few months when they have their stuff together, but the new management is not going to have repeat customers from the local community. Those that loved it before would be hard pressed to go back again. It was an adventure that I'm not sure we'll repeat anytime soon. read more

I called the number, waited for an hour, walked around looking for someone, then finally at 10 pm had to find another hotel an hour away. Avoid this hotel at all costs. The service was prompt and friendly. The bread and salad were a nice surprise. The bread was awesome, the whole family agreed. The food did take awhile to come out, too long in our opinion based on what it was and the fact that we were one of 2 tables in the place. The main reason I can't give it 5 stars is my husband and I ordered a shrimp pasta dish and the shrimp came mixed in the dish with the tails still on, very un-appealing and messy. The kids Mac and cheese was likely boxed but it was cheap so we didn't expect gourmet. Overall a nice place with good food and nice people. Nice atmosphere, glad it wasn't a dingy hole in the wall. Would not recommend. Even after requesting at ordering that the hamburger be cooked thoroughly - no pink, we were served two almost raw hamburgers. After sending the first one back to be cooked longer, it came back no better. The second burger was bleeding and we sent it back and left. The other dinners served were their "special" of prime rib that was microwaved along with the cold, mushy corn on the cob. A completely empty dining room on a Sat night when we walked in should have been a clue. Terrible!! read more
