Stopped by Sweet Gypsy and this is such a good little find, just know going in that it's takeout only, no indoor seating. They're known for their gourmet cheesecakes (with rotating flavors), but they also have a full menu with salads, paninis, and other items that change up, which I love because it gives you a reason to keep coming back. I got the ABBA panini and it was so good, apples, bacon jam, brie, and arugula, and everything just worked together really well. Also a solid portion size, which I always appreciate. Of course I had to try a cheesecake too, and went with the caramel apple. I was actually surprised (in a good way) that it had thinly sliced apples baked right into it, which added such a good texture and made it feel a little more unique than your typical cheesecake. Service was great, super friendly and quick, and everything felt really well done. Definitely a spot I'd go back to, especially to try whatever cheesecake flavor they have next. read more

Time and time again I keep coming back for more amazing food at Sweet Gypsy. The selection of high quality food is always changing with unique specials every week so every trip there is a new experience. The bacon Mac and cheese appetizers are my go-to starter and I love trying all the different paninis. Sweet Gypsy chefs are outstanding and make great vegetarian, vegan, gluten free options. Trivia: What do the large glass cookie jars contain on the front ordering station? If Panera Bread had a much prettier older sister or much more handsome older brother, it would be this place. It's a place of flavor. I'm a big fan of pesto. And their pesto is flavorful without being the two detriments: too garlicky or too salty. The chairs are a little weird. I thought on this for a while. I can't tell if the table is super narrow, the chair too wobbly, or something else all together. All I know is I was constantly trying to readjust. Great local art in the walls. Each time I visit, at least two catch my eyes. Cool lamps on the table. You can control the dimness. Have fun with those! Eclectic plates and different bowls for the soups. The soups are delicious! A great accoutrement (yeah I know it's not a proper word for the situation BUT I liked the sound, and it totally works if you flex the meaning a LITTLE) to the sandwiches. Dip, sip, guzzle. An unexpected find in the little town of Palmer, AK. We are only here overnight and didn't want another meal of pub food. Sweet Gypsy offers delicious specialty items. Calazone, panninis, salads, and super yummy looking desserts. We didn't order any, so I can't speak to the taste, but it was a hot item with most folks taking home a dessert. The staff is kind, attentive, and down to earth. The food was a bit slow coming out, but only because they are a small business with lots of pick-up orders. It was worth the wait. My wife and I were very disappointed. Our first visit last December was great. The food was varied and delicious. The service was excellent then. Two weekends ago, after a visit to the musk ox farm, we decided to go back. We found that the menu had been scaled back. My wife had a subpar salad and I ordered the ribs and a cup of beef and mushroom stew. The ribs had a bad aftertaste and the stew was soup with very little beef. This place is amazing! I absolutely love the fact that they have a panini sampler! I wish more places offered something similar, where you can try several different flavors they make. I digress. Every single one of the paninis I tried was delicious. My favorite was the Antipasto. I wish the banana on the B Chocolate was a bit more mashed because the chunk of banana slid right out when I took a bite and slid all the way down the front of my body. First time visiting here since they opened 6 months ago. We heard good things and my wife actually had been talking about going and trying the calzones here. When the owner put out that she was making lasagna, we decided to make a date and go on a Friday night. We both started with a bowl of soup, which came as a side with the lasagna. We both chose the La Boeuf Porter soup, which was some of the best soup I've ever had from a restaurant. The beef was nicely sliced and cooked, and the mushrooms were cooked to perfection in a nice ale based broth. Lasagna followed and was wonderful. We loved the inside with the local art and photos; the tables were nicely appointed with small table lamps. Service was top notch. This place and the food made me happy. We brought home a piece of cheesecake to share between us and trust me, we already know it's going to be good. The menu had a wide range of choices, and we will definitely be back to try them. We had a "girls night out" which included dinner at Sweet Gypsy and the Nutcracker. I had made a 5:30pm reservation at Sweet Gypsy and we arrived on time. 15 minutes later I had to go up front and ask for a menu. 30 minutes later I had to ask for water. 40 minutes later a different waitress came to get our orders. After an hour and 10 minutes of waiting for our dinner, we decided we needed to leave in order to make it to the play on time. I had a conversation with one of the wait staff and let her know we had to leave. She went back to the kitchen to see how far along they were on our order, and it hadn't even been started...so we left. She apologized but I told her it wasn't her fault - I didn't know whose fault this was, but it wasn't hers. Yes, it was a busy night in Palmer - Christmas parade, but I had a reservation.
