Valley diner did something that very few FINE DINING establishments do, and took a lukewarm review to heart with the intention of improving for the sake of proper hospitality. So about three weeks ago I stopped in for a late night meal post a busy work shift. I ordered French Onion soup and the Prime Rib (which few places offer regularly). Nick the server was tremendous. On top of everything. Pleasant and engaging guy. Unfortunately that time the food came out mids. The flavors were on point but it was lukewarm. I mentioned that to Nick and the manager, they took care of it with a generous discount and invited me back without batting an eyelash. So last night. Rainy as hell and after a 12 hour shift exhausted as hell I stepped back in. The prime rib was absolutely fucking heavenly. Literally the best. And the faux poutine fries made the fat kid in me cry the tears of joy after clocking in 22,000 steps. I met up with my cousins for lunch. I was the first of ten to arrive and was promptly greeted by the staff upon entry. A seating was made up and water poured for everyone even before they arrived. We asked for separate checks which was no problem. Our waiter Matt was friendly and efficient. He got all of our orders and checks straight plus he had a great smile! Great, pleasant diner with a wonderful selection of food items. The veggie burger is very good. My cousin and friends took here for a late dinner. The service was very fast and friendly. Had breakfast with a friend on Friday 5/22. The home fries looked like a failed attempt at a hash brown. Dried and burnt. We both ordered omelets which were not properly cooked. Partially raw or runny eggs. Quite disgusting. Very unpleasant. We ended up hardly touching our meals, which totaled $40.00. Also, I originally ordered French fries. My home fries were an error. At the time I told the server it was okay. When she brought us the check, we asked if they had changed cooks, since usually the food is pretty good. She became upset and mentioned the mistake with the fries. I said the fries were not a big deal at all, it was the eggs that were an issue. She apologized and practically ran away from our table, even though both of us remarked to her that we knew she had nothing to do with the cooking of our meals. Not a good experience. read more

I had heard about the Valley Diner a few weeks ago. They were written up for hosting a fundraiser for a young girl with a debilitating disease. Kudos to them for this. I met my best friend, Pots & Pans, for breakfast this morning. I drove down from Windsor Locks; he drove up from Queens. Since the corned beef hash was advertised as homemade, we both opted for the CBH omelet w cheddar, well-done HF's, and rye toast. Coffee came quickly as did refills. Food arrived in short order as well. We were both surprised at the CBH omelet's lack of CBH. It was more like a cheese omelet...little flecks of CB here and there, not as a "filling" like every other CBH omelet I've ever had anywhere. I liken the "skimpiness" to the amount of clothes on an exotic dancer (from what I've heard). Also reminded me of that classic Wendy's commercial from 2012, when one of the elderly women says, "Where's the beef?" (available on YouTube). We both mentioned this to our server, who said she would talk to the cook. Additionally, the HF's were not very spiced at all. Just a big mass of grilled potatoes. Coffee was excellent. Plenty of parking, but not many cars / patrons for what should be a busy breakfast period. My Yelp ratings are normally 5's and 4's, because I try to patronize places that have gotten decent reviews. This is my GO TO spot for dessert. I have not tried their entrees but I must speak on the desserts here. I usually go out to dinner somewhere in the area and then I'm craving something sweet after, restaurants menus have little options to pick from but I KNOW Valley Diner will have an array of selection to choose from. As I enter, I'm greeted with their display case of deserts which consists of all types of cakes, cheesecakes, pies, cannolis, cookies, etc. as hard as it is to make my decision with all the options available, I always end up getting my usually Belgian Waffle with strawberry and ice cream with whipped cream on top. Usually always a great experience with the food here at valley diner. Could never go wrong with the green yogurt. It is so delicious especially with the granola and fruit. Took a bite of my fiancés panini and it was amazing definitely will try and make it at home. My sister normally purchases the blt club sandwich and loves it however, today the tomatoes were awful and she barely touched her meal. She did however enjoy the French fries. read more

Food, service and ambiance can all be improved. Nasty waitresses- incorrect orders. Food is not American- everything has a Greek twist... soupy shrimp scampi - tomatoes in my quesadilla - and some of their Greek dishes taste old and stale. If you are lucky they will sit u at a clean table- not one full of slop. The waitstaff is very rude. They should learn how to treat their customers. Had dinner with mom. We both ordered the Stuffed Sole. It came with choice of soup or salad, veggie choice and starch choice. Honestly one of THE Best stuffed Sole's I have had! There were TWO HUGE ones on the plate filled with crab and fish stuffing..delicious and expertly seasoned, Not over cooked! The coleslaw was obviously just made...huge portion and was so Fresh and yummy!! We also had soup..also home made today!! We asked and complimented the cook! I used love this diner, it's a great option nearbywith the kids so that we can go in to choose whatever we'd like from a large selection. It seems to be going downhill. The last two times we've gotten gyros for takeout, the pitas were stale and split all the way across in several places so you can't even eat it as a sandwich. It's really disappointing, all of the tomatoes and onions just fell out and you could barely even hold the meat or lettuce in there. Very nice place. You see the parking lot full, you know the food is good. After attending an event nearby, we found this diner on Google on our way back to NYC. Our server was fantastic and extremely friendly. I know working in a crowded diner can be stressful but this young lady held a great composure attending to her duties. Now the food and drink. I'm a sucker for a good diner burger and their burgers hit the spot. And I love having an option for different styles of French Fries. The beer was nice and frosty, plus the seltzer very refreshing. Went to breakfast with my wife this morning. We have been here many times before and enjoyed our meal. This was not the case this morning. We both ordered off the "specials" menu. My wife got the cinnamon apple waffle and I got a spanish omlet with home fries. Her waffle was a soggy mess with rubbery consistency and my omlet was skimpy and tastless with home fried potatoes that were just grilled chunks of potatoes with no seasoning. This is the kind of comfortable, super clean, welcoming place I would want to come to get breakfast, lunch and dinner. Had a kielbasa special which was really nothing short of delicious and a buffalo chicken wrap, a sandwich we often get- this was a cut above.
