Purchase employee sent offer (contingent on their on site inspectuioin) for our 2024 Toyota Highlander which we accepted. Several days later contacted by their field tech and agreed to Sat AM home inspection. Tech called to confirm his arrival next morning. Saturday morning received another call that he would be running late. Tech arrived 11:30AM and began a careful examination of the vehicle which besides hairline scratch on rear bumper was in pristine shape. Everything looked good and he said he needed to call HQ to sign off so we could proceed to bank to consummate deal. Became concerned when the call seemed to taking a long time. Eventually it was clear we would not make the bank as they closed at 2PM. Heard the tech explaining the vehicle had dealer installed leather seats etc. Eventually the tech came and said they had had "computer problems" and that the value of the vehicle was $3K below what they offered and acknowledged it was their mistake. They also threw the purchase employee under the bus and blamed her for the error. They withdrew their offer despite they had accepted and both parties agreed in good conscience. Responded that it was their mistake nonetheless and they should accept responsibility and proceed with payment. Needless to say the tech left after what seemed like bullying from his exec staff. Acknowledge this is high volume low margin business. Don't know what legal definition for Deceptive Business Practices" is but kinda fits the scenario. Understand they need to meet margins but also understand a deal is a deal. Cannot possibly recommend this outfit based on the sahenanigans. As an addendum just received another offer from these guys that is $4,500 less that first! Contemplating taking legal action against these bottom feeders. read more

This was the most bizarre experience, but overall super painless and straightforward. I listed my truck for sale on 3 separate markets. I received a message from Anna at VCG that they were interested and had some questions about it. They sent me an offer based off of the reports and pictures that was reasonable and we scheduled a time to go to a Chase Bank and check it out. Jackson looked it over, made some notes, and we re negotiated based off of things that weren't in the Carfax or the pictures for like a minute. He still gave me a fair offer and wasn't trying to low ball me and his concerns were valid (some rust that required a little more work than they intended). We came to an appropriate and fair price. I waited in line with him at Chase - they cut me two checks. One for my vehicle pay off to my bank and the other to me. Then he followed me over to my bank to pay off the vehicle and cash the check that he gave me. We filled out paperwork and they picked the truck up that night. Super easy - very legit. Seemed almost too easy - I was always under the impression that if it seems too good to be true, it is. But this was the exception, it was all legit. He was nice and pleasant and agreed to meet but upon arrival he told me he works for Valley Car Group and sells these cars to other people. He inspected my car, made a call, and came back with an offer 1800 less than KBB would give my car in "fair condition". My car is in Good condition but I searched to see the lowest going rate for my car. This is a deceptive practice because this company is tying to turn a profit on my car which is fine but the rep should have identified himself prior to me taking time out of my day. He was trying to get a wholesale price. If I wanted to accept wholesale offers, I wouldn't be selling it myself online. I annoyed that I wasted my time. Be up front about your intentions. read more

This company makes it so easy to buy your car it feels like a scam. I was so skeptical of the entire process from beginning to end. I didn't trust them even to come to my house to look at my truck. I scoured the internet to find if this company was legit and IT IS! Matt was the one who came and gave me a quote on my car. He drove to my area and made it so quick and easy. I thought I was going to get a lowball offer for my truck, and explained to him even before he came that I didn't want to waste his time or mine. But he insisted that he had to come and look at the truck to give me a quote. So he did and I knew I could sell my truck for a certain price. The offer he gave me was extremely fair and didn't low ball me. After that we drove back to my house and Matt went to the bank. After like 30 minutes we met at my bank so that he could give me the check for the balance on the vehicle. It was a cashiers check and I deposited to make sure it was legit. It was. But even after that I was not at peace yet, because he still had to pay off what was left on the loan of the truck. I signed paperwork and he showed me the check for the balance. I then snapped some pictures and we headed back to my house to snap a picture of me in front of my truck. He congratulated me and he assured me everything was fine and somebody came to pick up my truck. The following day he sent me the picture of the fedex tracking and receipt for the check he was sending to my auto finance bank. I was still uneasy, so I texted Matt and asked him if "this was legit" and he said I didn't have to worry. But of course we always have the worst in mind cause all the bad companies out there. I called my auto finance company and they confirmed they received the check. It took 4 days for my balance to show it was in the clear. Valley Car Group is amazing! Been trying to buy a bmw for a few weeks. Saw one on craigslist listed under (FOR SALE BY OWNER). After texting this guy for 30 minutes he tells me hes a dealership and he has to charge me taxes and stuff. I told him to remove his listing from personal side and stop deceiving people trying to catch customers using false advertisement. He said yea I told you about it, after wasting 1/2 an hour of my time???? I continue to see this car listed in the personal section. After reading some of the reviews, these are probably crooks who look to LOW ball someone for their car and try to RIP off someone else for their money. Not an honest service. Besides, their deals are not great by any means. If you're looking for a car, stay away from these people. First impressions are terrible for me personally, and i would hate for them to rip someone off. Use your cash to make a "REAL" deal with a "REAL" private seller. Keep in mind, every dealer/buyer is different. Don't go by what KBB is saying, because KBB dont buy vehicles- they're all about marketing. If you received a low number on your vehicle, there are two reasons. Reason 1: you might have no damage done to your vehicle and it requires little or no recon, but your vehicle doesn't spark an interest so to the high day of supply your vehicle has and it would take forever to sell- which means, they would have to sell it a great price in order to make a deal. They won't take the chance on giving you more than wholesale if they can't sell it. Reason 2: your vehicle has damage done to it that requires a lot of attention. Some people just say "oh, it's a scratch." No, it requires a lot of work just to fix it- you gotta spend money in order to sell it. People always think their vehicle is perfect; even though it has scratches, low tire tread, smokers truck, etc. would you buy a vehicle like that? Even mine had damage, and I knew they would need to do work on it. Always do your research before selling a vehicle. Just because you see your vehicle going way above book- and you decide to sell that that high price, doesn't mean you're gonna get it for that amount. A dealer can put their asking price to 100k for a Honda if they wanted to- doesn't mean they're gonna sell it. So, don't be mad, just because you assume that it's a lowball offer- to be honest, it's more of a realistic offer. Always get a vehicle that's gonna hold its value. read more

My #1 concern when selling to a car buying company like Valley Car Group was how legitimate they were. Scott and Reese were definitely that, plus generally courteous and on top of their game. They patiently navigated the security checks I wanted to go through (accompanying them to mail out the rest of my loan payment to Bank of America, confirming cashier check legitimacy, etc.). A heads up that the overall process was clunkier than it needed to be, due to 1) VCG not being as familiar with Bank of America's loan payoff process as I would have hoped and 2) them training a new rep on my deal (he made a few flubs that I caught, but that ate up time). I assume both of these things will be ironed out as they mature as a company. I'd recommend VCG to a friend for sure. read more

They did ask for the mileage and VIN but that is standard when someone is diligent before buying a car. My car had some damage, but even then I wanted to get a fair offer. They initially appraised it for an amount I thought was fair, and then they came back with a really low one. I knew my car was worth more, so I countered with the offer that I had gotten from Carmax. In the end, I got more than Carmax had offered, Reece was great to deal with and I never once felt like I was unsafe or dealing with someone sketchy. All I would say is, yes, they did came back with a low offer at one point, but if you know what you are doing and are willing to negotiate, you can get a really good and painless deal.
