I came into Sky Nail a couple of days ago and received my nail service from Kevin. I have to give him credit--he was mostly professional, attentive to detail, and worked quickly. However, I specifically asked for a builder gel fill, and he attempted to use acrylic instead. I felt like he was trying to get over on me, but I decided to let it slide. Overall, I was very happy with how my nails turned out. Unfortunately, I also ran into Tom, a nail tech I've had issues with in the past. When he owned his own salon, I left an honest review about an experience where I felt he was at fault. Rather than taking accountability or addressing my concerns professionally, he responded sarcastically, 'Hope you can find a good chop shop that will do your nails.' I found that comment pretty ironic considering he now works at what he once referred to as a 'chop shop.' What ultimately prompted me to write this review, however, was the behavior I personally witnessed during this visit. Tom was servicing a young woman when he walked over to my nail tech and asked in Vietnamese, "Do you think her breasts are real or fake?" Later, as the client was leaving, he made another comment to my nail tech and said, 'Her body is so nice, I'd work and give her all my money.' Mind you, this was being said about a paying client who had just been sitting in his chair. What made the comment even more inappropriate was that this was coming from a married man. I understood every word because I am fluent in Vietnamese. Regardless of whether an employee believes a client can understand the language being spoken, discussing a paying client's breasts and body while she is sitting there receiving a service is incredibly inappropriate, disrespectful, and unprofessional. Clients should be able to walk into a nail salon without having sexual comments made about their bodies behind their backs--or directly in front of them in another language. Speaking in another language in front of clients in a way that excludes them from the conversation can also come across as rude and unprofessional, especially when the conversation is about the clients themselves. In this situation, it allowed inappropriate comments to be made openly while assuming the client would not understand. Overall, Kevin was great, and I was happy with the service he provided. What made the situation even more disappointing was that the owner was present and appeared to hear the comments being made, yet I did not see the behavior addressed or corrected. Allowing sexual comments about a paying client to go unchallenged reflects poorly on the professionalism of the salon. I hope Sky Nail management takes this seriously because clients deserve to feel comfortable, respected, and safe while receiving a service.

I let it slide, why would they assume I understand, maybe the pedicure would be great? Nope. The woman working on my pedicure was clipping hangnails and pinched my skin twice. This caused a layer of my big toe skin to be raw and my pinkie toe to bleed. I winced in pain multiple times and pulled my feet back. The pedicure itself looked good so I thought the shenanigans were over and the rest of the process of the deluxe pedicure package would go okay. Wrong again. She begins to exfoliate my legs, aggressively and applying pressure directly to my shin bone. I felt like she was upset that I kept wincing in pain multiple times. Unsure if that was the case, but it definitely came off that way. I will not be returning. To the staff of Bellagio: 1) Never assume a customer does not understand, I myself spent all of my 20s in Asia (Specifically Vietnam, Thailand, and Japan). 2) Please be more gentle with the skin on the toes, it is fragile and can bleed easily. 3) When applying an exfoliant or lotion, regardless of trying to massage the leg, apply with little to no force and focus on areas where muscle resides (example: the calves). This is a very pretty salon and has the potential to be great, but staff must display better customer service and general kindness to customers. I was looking forward to nice day of self care while visiting my niece, but now I will not return. People come to the salon to relax, not to be on edge what will happen to their hands or feet next.

I showed the nail tech my inspo pic (right picture) -- I told her that I just wanted the brown french tip on almond nails, something simple that I thought would be easy to recreate. Unfortunately, the results (left picture) did not meet my expectations. The nail tech drew the french tips in a "V" shape, which wasn't what I asked for. At the time, I didn't think much of it and thought maybe it'd be something that I would eventually grow into. It wasn't until I got home when I realized that I was not happy with my nails no matter how much I look at it. On the bright side, the salon wasn't busy, so I didn't feel rushed. However, that makes it more frustrating because there should have been plenty of time getting those simple french tips as shown. Later that evening, I ended up going to another salon in Vallejo to have my nails repainted, which was an extra expense but way better. I really wanted to love my nails, but this experience was disappointing, and i'm hesitant to come back.
