On a break in between soccer games at the So Cal Sport Complex so we headed to the Junkyard (nearby) to have some lunch. They stated there was a 1 hour wait so we walked 30 seconds to this Mexican Food place. Never go wrong with Mexican right? Well, sorta. Not bad, just not amazing. I had a potato taco and a beef taco , both hard shelled. They were ok. Not bad, totally edible, just not great. I had a plate so rice and beans as well. They eere decent. Salsa was good, place was clean. Not a bad option at all. I have pretty high mexican food expectations living in so cal. Try it. Other items looked decent as well. Mexican Coke! Was a plus. Also, they had a large assortment of aguas frescas and horchata. Forgot pics, but pretty standard fare. Prices not horrible. Staff was very nice. They have a clean bathroom. read more

Man. Valerie's has been my taco spot and more for a while now! And while they do have incredible Mexican food, tonight was about the service. And maybe I'm wrong at which point I will gladly take my lesson and walk away more knowledgeable. I was craving some tacos and so I jumped in the whip and rolled up to Valeria's at exactly 9:41pm. I used to be a regular customer at Valeria's and was excited to try the new location after they moved a couple doors down and expanded. Unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. The biggest issue was the carne asada fries. They appear to have switched from their original smaller fries to thick steak fries, but there was no indication on the menu or in the photos that anything had changed. The new fries completely change the dish, and not for the better. If you're going to make a major change to a popular menu item, customers should be informed. The carne asada itself was also disappointing. Instead of tasting like traditional grilled carne asada, the meat had a texture and flavor much closer to ground beef. Combined with the fries, the dish was nowhere near the quality I remembered from the original location. It's great to see the restaurant growing and moving into a larger space, but it feels like the food quality has taken a step backward. I came in expecting the same food that made me a customer in the first place and left feeling disappointed. I hope they take customer feedback seriously and return to the quality and recipes that helped build their reputation. read more

This was my first time at Valerie's and I was pleasantly surprised. I got the california burrito, which was loaded with carne asada and fries. I loved how the tortilla had a nice char on it from the grill, and the salsas were solid. Also, service was extremely efficient. Will definitely be coming back to try more! read more

Unfortunately every time we order over the phone or on door dash they can't get the order right, this has happened multiple times. . And when we come in to make it right , they never apologize or make it right. Horrible customer service. I would suggest never ordering from them online or over the phone! Not DoorDash, Uber Eats etc... We had to come back agaon tonight, no "I'm sorry" nothing... we had to process our food was not made. I typically go here once a week after PT and get chicken rolled tacos. Today I got my same order and there was hardly any guacamole on them! I was surprised I called the location and the guy told me that I could call the owner that he only works there...... He could have at least offered me something. Great customer service!! Ok. Not. They typically are very cheap there anyway and don't really care about the customers as far as I can see when I'm sitting there waiting for my items.. I don't recommend them. They did add a new location by Lowe's off of Old Grove road - it replaced another delicious Mexican food restaurant - and that restaurant, Valerie's has even worse service. I haven't gone back since they moved in. Valerie's is off my list........ Plus they charge you to use your credit card! read more

Valerie's Taco Stand in Oceanside is a great "hidden gem" that many locals enjoy without the huge crowds of tourists. It's location is just off of El Camino Real , in the parking lot adjacent to Target and across from WinCo. It's easily accessed from the 78 Hwy and has plenty of parking in the lot they share with other businesses. The interior has very simplistic decor that is inspired by Mexicali views and Oceanside and there's some seating for small groups of 4 max; but admittedly it's a little "crammed" inside and there's not much in the way of ambiance. I observed that most people took their order To Go. The service is excellent and their menu is huge and offers a large variety to choose from. They have tacos, nachos, burritos, asada fries and plenty of combo - bowl options. There's also Agua frescas or bottled beverages to drink. I ordered their papas tacos and they were actually pretty good for their pricing. But the magic truly happened when I got their El Jefé Taco which contained their fantastic Al Pastor & Bacon with all the fixings. Although it stood just under $5, the size was humongous and the flavor was phenomenal! I hear their carne asada fries are also a great deal too. Overall, this is a great place for those who value the flavor of their food, don't mind paying a medium price for it, do not require Gi-normous portion sizes and like to support small businesses who value traditional recipes. I recommend Valerie's Taco Stand when in the area. read more

This Valerie's is awesome. DoorDash has messed up our order and forgotten our drink 3 times now. I called Valerie's and they said they've had the drink ready every time. And I believe them. Food- I've had the carne asada burrito, carne asada quesadilla, and carne asada fries. Both the carne asada quesadilla and the Carne asada burrito were basic and over priced compared to other places around the area, where as the other places would usually have something extra with it to make it taste better or just a little extra garnish would go a long way. But I will say the carne asada fries are good not great but good as is all other places they each stand out in their own way so no other judgment on that. Service- The service was exceptional and basic but usually don't expect too much from a Mexican restaurant unless you speak Spanish. Ambiance- Ambiance was fine, nothing standing out or too much, and music/tv is on to make it a little more lively which is nice so you don't only hear the cooks in the back. Thoughts- No current thoughts besides maybe fixing the prices of some items on the menu (understandingly our country forced us to fix the prices of all things) that don't need to be more expensive than other places for a simple 3 ingredients that can get thrown together and forgotten for 5min before being served, but that's just my thoughts on that. read more

This is our go-to spot for fish tacos in PB. Their carne asada and adobada is also a home run every time. Their steak is seasoned very simply with salt and pepper yet it's so tender and delicious it's a staple. We get the carne asada fries a lot, it's huge and honestly everything is good. I placed my order on the DoorDash.com website at 12 p. m. this afternoon and ordered the (one quantity) of the Surf and Turf (Huge) Burrito. This Surf and Turf Burrito includes: the Angus Steak pieces that are very flavorful and tender, a generous portion of the grilled Shrimp, Spanish Rice, diced tomatoes, Cilantro and this Pio Pico Sauce. All of these ingredients were wrapped up in a large warm flour tortilla. This Surf and Turf (Huge) Burrito was very filling and DELICIOUS! The price for this Surf and Turf Burrito is $11.99. I also ordered the one quantity of the small size Refried Beans with melted Cheddar Cheese and for my beverage the one quantity of the regular (20 ounce size) Aqua Fresca in the Watermelon Natural flavored beverage. The price is for the (8 ounce size) is $2.99. Finally the Aqua Fresca Beverage in the Watermelon flavor, (20 ounce size) is $3.49. This subtotal is $18.47. The sales tax is $1.52. The Delivery Service Fee is $3.99. The Service Fee is $2.77. The total bill is $32.25 that was charged to my visa credit card account. I can hardly stay awake now, LOL since I ate this really big Surf and Turf Burrito and it is very delicious. The smaller size Refried Beans with the melted Cheddar Cheese was added for extra flavor. These Refried Beans have a creamier texture to them and are good. The Aqua Fresca (Watermelon flavor) Beverage isn't very sweet but the taste is really amazing. Everything I ate for my lunch time this afternoon was very delicious. I received (excellent customer service) from my DoorDash.com Delivery Service. Linda this older woman arrived at my home at 1:50 p. m. to my front door and she was very friendly and overall really nice person. Linda gave me excellent customer service.
