Delicious salmon at Yellowstone Cafe! It was grilled perfectly and had a lime seasoning…read more Accompanied with generous portion of mixed vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower and carrots). Our server Crystal was attentive and knowledgeable. The ambiance is like a hunting lodge with mounted fish and deer with lots of fishing gear on the walls. Very good food!

We just tried Yellowstone Cafe in Chesterfield Missouri before going to the nearby Target…read more Upon first glance, I was worried this place was abandoned. Finally, a staff member appeared out of the flesh and seated us. The dining room had a few couples dining in, mostly in their 70s and 80s. Nothing wrong with that, but something to note as far as ambiance goes. The actual dining room was clean and lined with ceramic fish, fishing poles and taxidermy animals. Dated but respectable look. The food was good but not spectacular. I wasn't expecting Grade A fish in the middle of Missouri, so my expectations were already dampened prior to eating. We had the Crab Cakes and a Tilapia Sandwich. They were good and tasted fresh - as in "good quality", not "fresh caught", I'm sure it was a frozen variety. The fries were good, but also likely of the frozen variety. The service was friendly albeit a bit slow. Our waitress was sweet but we ended up just leaving cash because she never came back to ask how our food was or take our plates. We would come back, but not anytime soon. It was a good lunch, but nothing earth-shattering.

Altogether there was 13 of us, and the manager said they dont normally serve groups of that size but would do their best. Got seated right away and there was plenty to choose from on the menu. I did what I think they called the boat garbage plate. This had everything I love when done right, including catfish fillets, fried shrimp, fries, cole slaw, and plenty of sauces including tartar and shrimp coctail. Despite the size of our group the food came out in good time. Not to fast which would make me think microwaving was going on, but not too slow either. Fish was crispy, well seasoned, flaky, and not tasting of other fried foods like chicken etc, which sometimes happens. A+++ on the food. Everyone else in the group got similar dishes and were equally as impressed. There were a few kids and they got the kids got the kids platters. There maybe could have been a little more on the portion size but none of them really would have eaten much more than they were given so its all good. My portion size made me feel a little guilty as it would violate any diet out there, but for a once in a while meal this is perfect. The waitress and mgr brought out mom and dad a ice cream sundae and sang happy anniversary to them. Mom and Dad were blown away by the whole thing and mom talked to the manager with a lot of compliments after the meal. I was almost going to grab her and bring her along back to the car as it was creating a bit of a logjam of people coming in. The dining rooms had a lot of taxidermized animal heads and it was put together like a cabin, which I thought was really cool. I think the people working here are working really hard to put this place on the map and I think it is working. Cant say enough, great experience.

We waited for approximately an hour before a table was ready for us. We talked to the locals who said the food was well worth it. So glad we stayed. The locals were right. It was worth the wait. The food very tasty and we got a lot of food. I took home half of my very tender ribeye (perfectly cooked.). Hubby took home some of his tenderloin platter. Save room for dessert (we didn't) because they have a large variety. We Will definitely return to eat here if we find ourselves in the area! The ranch dressing and croutons were homemade (said the locals). They have been there for 30 years. They also own a restaurant in Hannibal.

Had really high hopes for this place after a long day on the road. The menu looked inventive and…read moreamazing. Things started out well, the BF had a tasty Manhattan and I had a mocktail that was subtle and delicious, and not overpriced as mocktails often are. But alas. The house salads that we ordered were overdressed in a vinaigrette so acidic we couldn't finish them. And there wasn't much to them. Other than greens and fried shallots and pickled red onions, there was a tiny dusting of some finely grated cheese. And who needs two kinds of onions and nothing else on the salad? Then we each had a bowl of the matzo ball soup, which was ridiculous. Three matzo balls sitting in a quarter-inch of broth that was so unbelievably salty that we couldn't eat that either. We ended up asking for hot water to dilute the broth to a level of saltiness that was edible. The chicken was okay and the matzo balls were okay. A little gummy. But the broth was just awful. It all made me wonder if the chef had lost their sense of taste due to Covid or something. Seriously. I've had that happen to me a couple of times and all I could taste was really basic stuff like sour and salt. And our waitress was totally uninterested in trying to make our experience better. She wasn't rude, she was just indifferent to the fact that we'd been served two courses that we absolutely couldn't eat. Didn't offer us anything to compensate or even express any sympathy about it. We got out of there as fast as we could and made ourselves feel better with an Andy's frozen custard.
