We waited for approximately an hour before a table was ready for us. We talked to the locals who said the food was well worth it. So glad we stayed. The locals were right. It was worth the wait. The food very tasty and we got a lot of food. I took home half of my very tender ribeye (perfectly cooked.). Hubby took home some of his tenderloin platter. Save room for dessert (we didn't) because they have a large variety. We Will definitely return to eat here if we find ourselves in the area! Love the food open face roast beef is one of our favorite and many times my husband and I will call in and order and run and pick it up since we live near the lake. So happy we skipped roasting hotdogs over the fire at Behrans campground. When we come back to Mark Twain Lake, we will be back. My partner ordered the 3/4lb ground chuck steak with mashed potatoes and green beans and left nothing on the plate when he finished. We asked our server/head host guy what he gets and my partner was VERY happy with his meal. I ordered chicken parm with a side of Alfredo and I brought my leftovers back to camp and ate it cold around 11 at night. SO GOOD even COLD. They don't even care if you are straight off the lake a single or a big group, they treat you like family. Never had a bad meal and we eat here often. Leave room for dessert or take it to go for later. Prime rib is always good! Went to St. Peter's location today. Was sat and it was not crowded. Waited 10 minutes watched another table get seated and then receive their drinks. Multiple servers looked at us in passing. Caught the eye of the hostess that sat us thinking she would either get a server or someone to at least acknowledge us. Another 15-20 minutes we got up and headed to the exit. The hostess still didn't acknowledge us even walking out. I get it we all need to be understanding of staff shortages. However this was rude and honestly unacceptable. I am a traveling Nurse, I have been given recommendations by locals, this being one. My husband came to spend the weekend so we took the chance to drive out and try it! It was definitely worth the drive and by far the best restaurant I have tried while in the Hannibal, MO area!!! My husband had the ribeye with baked potato and salad, he is picky when it comes to steak and was by far one of the best he has had:). Cooked just how he likes it. Baked potato was fresh, nothing worse than a baked potato that has been setting for hours. I had the chicken fried chicken, with mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and salad. Not sure whether the potatoes were real or not, if not they were doctored enough I couldn't tell, but the gravy was for sure not packaged:). I would say this was by far the best chicken fried chicken I have ever had, I was only able to finish about half of it, was very tender and crispy!!! We both ordered pie but had to bring it back to the hotel with us along with the rolls that came with each meal. We did not have to wait at all to be seated, service was great, and food was delivered promptly and hot!!! Not to mention with tip of over 20%, our ticket was less than $60 for an appetizer, 2 entrees, drinks and 2 pieces of pie. Would highly recommend this establishment. read more

Picture this.... An out of town guy looking for something better than fast food but I needed it to go. I hope sit down diner is a better dining experience. I ordered the JUMBO coconut shrimp and the two sides are kernel corn and onion rings. I also ordered a side of mozzarella sticks with marinara sauce. I was warned of a 45 minute wait which I agreed to. It took the full 45 minutes which I don't have a problem with except for the quality of the food. I think someone at the restaurant needs to look up the definition of jumbo or what jumbo shrimp are considered jumbo. The mozzarella sticks were good but they forgot myMy marinara sauce. I brought a group of six here on a Friday night and we had a bit of a wait but not too bad. Probably 10 minutes. I did not really feel like anything too heavy. However in keeping with my tradition of always getting country fried steak when it's available, I got the country fried steak. It was fantastic. Best I had in a long time. Wife had a steak and she really enjoyed it. In fact, all six of us had a great meal and the tab was $61. Unbelievable! Considering the location, the service and the food I'll go the full 5 stars. The country fried steak and mashed potatoes were great, the charegrilled prime rib was to die for, but the 4th time we ate here we were disappointed. My husband got the ribeye which lacked seasoning. I agree with some other reviewers that it is a pleasant surprise to find a place like this in this location. The decor is indeed rustic without ever feeling "redneck". The main dining area features a lot of taxidermy and hunting / fishing knick knacks, the side dining room is more open-spaced with lots of windows and plants, and the rear dining room is sports oriented. The service is friendly and attentive. We got a table very quickly and our food came out quick as well. The steaks were cooked perfectly and tasted great, and the ultimate burger was one of the best I've had in a very long time. They also have a huge selection of sides, deserts, and ice cream. The portions are large and the prices are very fair. Even when the place is busy it never feels loud or crazy inside. Father's Day night out. Had reservations apparently was unnecessary after standing in the lobby and no one is at the podium. Workers walked past several times before i was able to stop one. She did not even bother to look at the reservation book and just asked how many. I did inform her that I had reservations she looked at the log but never asked a name just lead us to a table. A few minutes later drink order was taken. After meal order was taken my wife inquired about deserts. All we were told is they are on the board which was over a table another couple was sitting at. No hint or even a menu nor what they specialize in. My wife ordered the shrimp Alfredo and I order the house specialty rustic oak strip steak. The order of Alfredo had a large amount of pasta with a few grilled shrimp. If nothing else you would be full from the pasta but don't expect to have shrimp by the end of the dish. My steak was well cooked but bland with very little seasoning. The pickled beets were very enjoyable. Since there was no explanation of the deserts we had to stand near the table with a couple to see the desert menu. Still nothing to what was a specialty or made in house just would you like desert. We stayed at Mark Twain's Landing Campground and decided to have dinner here as a celebratory Dinner for our daughter's Wedding Engagement! It was close to where we were staying and Yelp had great reviews. The prices and the food selection were exactly what we were looking for. We made reservations for 5:30 and were seated promptly. I had the Prime Rib and my husband and daughter's Fiancé had the Ribeye. My daughter had the Slap your Daddy Louisiana Pasta. Our sides were baked potatoes, mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans, corn, tossed salad and bread rolls. We also decided on dessert, which they had a vast selection. Everything was fantastic. The only thing that I would recommend would be to provide a wine selection. It would have been nice to purchase a bottle of wine to toast our Daughter and future Son-in-Law's Wedding Engagement during dinner. Missing all the wonderful food and friendly service that Rustic Oak serves. Best food by a dam site each and every time. The kids love sitting in the 'snow' room. It is always hard to chose between the all you can eat catfish or the prime rib on the Friday night specials. 68 days until we open the campers and go back to enjoying the great times at the Oak. We will be taking the giant chocolate cake back because there is never room for dessert after the huge portions at dinner. I was visiting relatives in Perry Mo. We called to get an order to go and they affirmed they do to go orders. We gave them our orders over the phone. They confirmed it and told us they would call when ready. They didn't so when we called they said it had been ready for one and a half hour ago. They didn't call! They lied! Our Food was cold they didn't even give a discount, or make an offer to redo the order. When asked why they didn't call they just shrugged their shoulders and walked away. They didn't even fill our whole order and we spent over $75.00. Had lunch there this afternoon (10/21/2017). We were from out of town, there for the 41st annual folklore festival. Enjoyed that, good quality arts and crafts. At the restaurant our waitress was Katie, she was fantastic. Went above and beyond to answer all our menu questions and knew the menu well. She helped us with directions and was very thoughtful and friendly. The food was really good. We travel a lot and try new restaurants. I tried the tenderloin, very tasty, My son had the 1/2 pound burger. Probably the star of the food we had. My wife had the horseshoe and enjoyed it. We also had their boneless wings. Could use to be crispier but were really good. They have a huge dessert menu of quality desserts. Tried a couple and they were delicious.
