Our service was excellent, food was cooked perfect and quick. We were camping from out of state and found it online. Enjoyed our decision for dinner. Inside the restaurant was very inviting. Would definitely eat here again!

This two-Story Log Cabin Restaurant is conveniently located by the beautiful Ray Beherns camp ground and minutes away from Clarence Cannon Dam. They do not serve breakfast but check out the lunch and dinner menu items, they are delicious!!

I am a traveling Nurse, I have been given recommendations by locals, this being one. My husband came to spend the weekend so we took the chance to drive out and try it! It was definitely worth the drive and by far the best restaurant I have tried while in the Hannibal, MO area!!! My husband had the ribeye with baked potato and salad, he is picky when it comes to steak and was by far one of the best he has had:). Cooked just how he likes it. Baked potato was fresh, nothing worse than a baked potato that has been setting for hours. I had the chicken fried chicken, with mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and salad. Not sure whether the potatoes were real or not, if not they were doctored enough I couldn't tell, but the gravy was for sure not packaged:). I would say this was by far the best chicken fried chicken I have ever had, I was only able to finish about half of it, was very tender and crispy!!! We both ordered pie but had to bring it back to the hotel with us along with the rolls that came with each meal. We did not have to wait at all to be seated, service was great, and food was delivered promptly and hot!!! Not to mention with tip of over 20%, our ticket was less than $60 for an appetizer, 2 entrees, drinks and 2 pieces of pie. Would highly recommend this establishment.

So there is not much up at Mark Twain so your choices are limited. Rustic Oak is pretty good fare by any standard though. Known for their steaks and deserts. Locals flock here and that's a good sign. I brought a group of six here on a Friday night and we had a bit of a wait but not too bad. Probably 10 minutes. I did not really feel like anything too heavy. However in keeping with my tradition of always getting country fried steak when it's available, I got the country fried steak. It was fantastic. Best I had in a long time. Wife had a steak and she really enjoyed it. In fact, all six of us had a great meal and the tab was $61. Unbelievable! Considering the location, the service and the food I'll go the full 5 stars. It probably would not be a five-star in a big city but out here it's a great value and great food.

We sat and sat and there were only 2 other tables in the whole place. Sat and listened to the waitress tell another table loudly about her new vehicle purchase when I felt after a half an hour maybe she should have checking where our medium rare steaks were. She came by and asked if we were doing okay and my husband and I both asked why it was taking so long and her response was "I guess he didn't see your ticket" she guesses? Finally get our food and they both came with undercooked sweet potatoes and I specifically asked when I was ordering if they have sweet potatoes today. Her reply was yes. So when I got her attention and told her it was hard and undercooked I said if they have regular baked I'd take that instead. Then we were told the morning cook forgot to put them in this am. My reply was "I guess people are forgetting a lot around here today." Got the baked potato w only butter because I asked for my sweet potato w only butter no brown sugar so then her next time by I asked for it. She was then slamming things behind the counter where we were sitting and sighing heavily and at one point caught her apron on something and yelled out. Just not a pleasant experience and I just got in from Iowa today and was super excited to go to the hoof. Not so much anymore.

The decor and vibe are great for the area....it has that ranch, Missouri vibe. The only reason I am only giving 3 stars is that our burger buns were soggy and way too thin for the amazing quality beef patty and the fries were cold and "eh" -- maybe the sweet potato fries would be better? The beef patty was cooked perfectly and so juicy and thick. I'm positive our amazing server would have fixed these issues had we asked but we were tired and just wanted to get back on the road. Good value for the meal and we enjoyed it here.
