What occurred on December 30th, 2025 at Lula's was both disappointing and inappropriate. The behavior towards myself, wife and son was racially offensive and unacceptable. In addition, several adults were openly mocking another adult over his clothing, which was uncalled for. But then waitstaff, "Dana" refused to take our order until my son pulled his shirt down to cover the 1 inch of underwear band showing while sitting on a bar stool. Not to mention he is very tall. The customers exact words to Dana were "You dont have a hair on your a$$ to tell him that!" Real classy folks real classy. Dana chose to follow the behavior of others rather than act professionally. Overall, the experience was upsetting. Don't waste your time reaching out to the owners if you have a issue because they won't respond. They clearly don't care about wait staff and customers being racist towards other customers within their establishment. FYI THEY OWN THE BRICK AS WELL. read more

Ok, STOP! I travel the US extensively and I couldn't believe this place. It's labeled as a tavern and it is. A tavern with an amazing vibe, absolutely incredible food and service that I dare you to find fault with. When you pull up, you'll think you're in the wrong place. But lift your nose to the air. Amazing! The vibe inside is cheeky and fun. The staff is warm and welcoming and the size of the plated food is mind blowing. The taste is NOTHING but incredible. My partner and I went to LuLu's for dinner one weekend evening. We tried to get seating for over an hour, seats were available but they only wanted to seat the "regulars" that came in after us with zero reservations since we hadn't been there for a few years. I used to go with my Orscheln's crew and we were treated very well but if they don't know you, they will seat everyone else and don't give two $hits about you. Two waitresses and one bar tender were incredibly rude to us, this poor behavior likely comes directly down from manage or the owner. We tried to order drinks but couldn't even get that done. With plenty of empty seats, I expressed our frustration (nicely) and the waitress just pointed to a sign on their wall that was quite rude, crass and laughed as I read it. I looked at my partner and said, " How can we give prejudiced and rude people like this our hard earned money,"? So we left and spent $75 at another establishment in food and drink where we were treated far more decently. We never went back and shared our experience with friends and family. We spend about $400 a month at other eating establishments, with no issues at any other eating establishment, that's quite telling. read more

Easily my favorite place to eat in the United States. The shrimp platter is stacked high with the best shrimp I've ever tasted...yes even better than Florida! Don't let the outside appearance fool you, Lulas is a VERY popular place because of their juicy Rib Eye Steak meal, the huge Prime Rib dinner, the Famous Spiced Boiled Shrimp platter, and the most unreal baked potatoes & homemade fresh fries. All their food is delicious. I don't like a lot of the bay seasoning they put on their boiled shrimp. They have really good ribeyes, prime rib and their cheeseburgers are awesome. I know I'll get blasted for this review but I have to be honest and objective. I have eaten here probably 40 times. Nearly every time there is an hour wait with no place to sit. There's a crew of regulars (squatters) who will sit for an hour after eating at the big table every single night and wont move. The servers are nice but they are pretty understaffed. The bar area is so smokey at times you can barely see the other side of the room. Once you are seated, the food comes out pretty fast. I've had pretty much everything on the menu. The ribs are hit and miss but really heavy on the hickory smoke and usually always fairly dry. The steaks will be cooked the way you ask for them to be cooked but the meat quality is just so, so. Flavor is average and there will be more chewing involved than you'll find at other venues with similar pricing. The sweet potato or baked potatoes are huge. Of course they are, they are the cheapest thing to make. The fries can get soggy quick so eat those first. The shrimp are huge and pretty good. The chicken is pretty expensive and nothing to write home about, it's just a big quarter. The bathrooms are where they separate themselves from the herd. They are so disgusting I'm shocked the health inspector hasn't shut them down. They are so small you can barely turn around in them and the smell wafts out right next to the dining room. They don't take reservations, nor do they take anything but cash. If I'm waiting an hour for food, it's going to be CC's in Columbia, not this glorified machine shed, requiring an oxygen mask to sit inside. read more

This is one of the primo restaurants in the area. The bar itself is a total dive and smoking is allowed. No reservations and the dining room is small. This place gathers diners from a large area so you WILL wait. I waited outside to get away from cigarette smoke. They allowed me to enjoy my bar drink outside while I waited, so it was a pleasant wait. In bad weather, expect to be uncomfortable while waiting. I am not a fan of ribeye (I know it's supposed to be the best but everyone has preferences) so I was expecting to be bummed based on the menu photos but the night I dined they had an off menu special of t-bone so I was thrilled. My husband and I shared the gigantic steak, he ate the massive baked potato and I ordered a plate of fries and the seafood soup (it's been a while so I can't remember if it was crab or lobster). The soup was ok but not my favorite. The steak and french fries were amazing, such a treat! I would go again any time I'm in town. I know this place doesn't have much competition so you may think it's so highly rated because there isn't really anything better, but I think this place easily holds its own against some of the finer restaurants I have been to in St Louis and farther abroad. i'm so grateful i had the chance to come to this little gem of a place. there are certainly some...charms...here (indoor smoking! a certainty that no one has ever worn a mask there!), but i was able to suck up my liberalism, take faith in my double vaccines (this was before omicron was a thing), and enjoy a delicious meal. the mood was set when i heard a man order a jack & mountain dew from the bar, a combination i'd never even dared to imagine. i ordered the steak, with a salad and fries, and added a lobster bisque. after glancing around and seeing the plastic cups, i was skeptical, but held fast in my faith in restaurants with high yelp reviews. i was not let down. the ribeye was perfectly cooked, and incredibly flavorful and tender. no sauce was needed to enjoy it. fries came out well-done as requested, and were a wonderful compliment. the lobster bisque was also surprisingly delightful as well, with a nice rich flavor. i'd been slightly traumatized by my experience at sybil's, where the bisque was muddled down by rice (rice!), and was pleasantly surprised by this batch. as off the beaten path and sketchy as this place may seem at first glance, it is absolutely a spot worth revisiting again and again. read more

Fantastic spot! Yes, it's rustic and totally dated inside but who cares. Your taste buds and stomach can't see the decor. I was in town for my grandmother's funeral and I ate here with my parents. My mom remembers this place from when she was younger. She showed me the spot on the wall, next to the previously mentioned hallway sink, where there used to hang an old phone. She remembered that this was the place she made her first phone call, as in first ever phone call! That was neat. Also, history lesson, the "non smoking" part in the back is where African Americans were allowed to eat during segregation. The food... super good! I had the 14oz ribeye and it was on point. Tender, we'll seasoned and marinated, and melt in your mouth delicious. The baked potato was the size of three normal potatoes and cooked perfect try as well. I have had steak at most of the fancy steakhouses around and I'd be hard pressed to distinguish this steak from any of those other pricier steaks in a Pepsi challenge. My only critique is that the blue cheese dressing was too vinegary but that's a me thing and not a quality thing. Get there at 4:00 or be prepared to wait!!! We've been living in Moberly for 2 years now and we've never been able to place an order. We really wanted to try them out because they're so close to where we live and the food looks great. One night we were so determined to get burgers and fries that we tried calling over 100 times and no one picked up. They don't have a website or any way to order other than calling. And they're always packed to the gills with regular locals (beyond legal capacity for such a small building) that we couldn't possibly get in. We've tried countless times over 2 years and never been able to get help from anyone. If that wasn't bad enough, the real insult to injury is the absolutely inconsiderate and entitled a$$hats who eat there on the regular. They completely block traffic on a regular sized road, parking on both sides and never consistently pulling forward enough (especially giant trucks), so that only one car can get by at a time. Patrons jump out in front of your car when you're trying to drive through. They don't bother looking or waving to check that you're both aware of one another. It's not a crosswalk. It's a road. And Lulu's can't be bothered to ask their patrons to be more courteous or cautious, no signs or anything, no cones out out at high traffic times. And they own a massive lot of land next to their restaurant that they can't be bothered to turn into even temporary parking. No, they just let their customers clog the road and almost cause tragic accidents. It got to the point that we gave up ever trying to order food from them ever again. We don't want to support a restaurant that is so inconsiderate and poorly managed. I'm sure the burgers are delicious... if you're privileged enough to get your hands on one. read more

I visited this establishment tonight with my family and was highly disappointed!!! We frequently visit this restaurant and normally everything is delicious, however tonight this was not the case! My family brought along two of our friends and encouraged everyone to order a steak! Normally the steaks are delicious but tonight my husband and our friends wife Tbone were both extremely over cooked. We quickly brought this to our servers attention so she could get 2 new steaks goin for us. The server returned to the table to inform us that their steaks would not be recooked. The owner told our server to inform us that the only thing he would cook for them was a burger. We didn't not expect them to free cook us anything!!! We were more than willing to pay for the recooked steaks as long as they were not burnt!! The owner said he would not cook anything for us!!! I will never be back to this establishment again!!! No one deserves to be treated this way while eating out don't eat at Lula's!!! read more

Their burgers are great. A 1/2 order of fries will feed two people. Even the burgers can actually be split between two people, they are that large! Recommend this place if you are passing through Moberly. The menu is great that food is excellent,I would enjoy seeing it rxpland into a larger restaurant, so that more people could enjoy the delicious food. It is worth the wait, but it would be nice to see them expand as they have been in in our community for a while. The price is worth the taste every penny of it, but it would be nice to see a lighter less expensive menu for people that can't afford some of the excellent excellent steak and shrimp. Due to the virus, things have changed a lot in our country and I'm looking forward to getting out again in the community and enjoying seeing my family and friends in the community again and I believe this is a good place to begin. but I would recommend, a little bit of expansion so that more people could enjoy a wonderful atmosphere in the magic city once again. DOES NOT TAKE CREDIT CARDS! Yelp attributes that say it does are wrong. I suppose I should have asked but what sit down restaurant with prices like that takes only cash these days? I haven't carried cash in years and was fortunate that others in my party had barely enough on them. The meal and service, however, were excellent and definitely the best Moberly has to offer. Our waitress was very attentive without hovering and we got a kick out her skillful, successful and very helpful "up selling" of additional and alternate menu selections. Portion sizes are LARGE to say the least but I was still shocked at the two huge ice cream scoop size portions of sour cream on my baked potato. My smoked chicken was cooked just right and juicy and my sister said her peal and eat shrimp tasted just as good as the freshly caught shrimp she buys at the fish market in Mexico. (Mexico the country - not the nearby Mexico, Missouri). I will likely be in Moberly frequently during the next several years and will be visiting Lula's again - if I can remember to bring cash. read more

Food was excellent with large portions. We had pork chops (2 large ones) and KC strip steak that was marbled, marinated and very tasty. Looks great and tastes great too. Comes with 2 sides and very good bread. Bisque shrimp soup was good. People nearby let us taste the boiled peel and eat shrimp which we will order next time. Small, dark bar and was worried when walked in because I can't stand smoking but good separation between front which allows smoking and back which doesn't. Very small restroom with sink in the hallway to the back nonsmoking section, but clean. Dinner for the two of us was $37 but I took a lot home. Only accepts cash or check. Service was fast and good. We got there at 4:30 and by 5:30 all tables were full. Very busy place but understand why. Will definitely return read more

Talk about your out of the way places. Stumbled on Lula's a few years back. I've been there three times now and it's better every time. Don' t be put off by the appearance as I almost was. Dark road, cross some railroad tracks and you see a seedy looking tavern on your left. Really? I'm going to go in there? Why? To get my ass kicked? Yes, you've arrived. There are only about 5 or 6 items on the menu, all done up tavern style. Ribeye, shrimp, ribs, a cheeseburger the size of a catcher's mitt. You get the idea. All the portions are obscene. Baked potatoes on steroids. I went with 5 stars because for this type of place it really doesn't get any better. That said, a caveat, if you're the type of diner put off by less than fine accommodations don't go here. If dining at a dive bar (Blackthorn) turns your stomach, stay away. If walking through a narrow hall where the restrooms are to get to the dining room and having to be careful not to crack your hip on the sink sitting out in the hall is going to ruin your meal, go somewhere else. Lulas! I came here because of the name. A good friend wrote a song called "I've been dancing with Lula" over the years it has become one of my favorite songs, so out of curiosity I had to come to this place. The reviews made it clear that there are plenty of folks who love the food at this little tavern And you know what? I don't blame them. I didn't have the appetite for the steak tonight, but the cheeseburger was as good as a cheeseburger can get. My bartender, Dana, was, is as full of wit as she is full of cuteness. She was busy, awesome and even though things were crazy she found time to chat. I can't wait to come back to this joint! I hope it'll be one day next week and I hope it's cause to write an even better review. When going through Moberly, do yourself a favor, eat at Lula's Well, I made it back, I had the ribeye. Now here's the thing, I usually don't order steak because I make a pretty mean steak, my own self. This ribeye was gorgeous, I have not seen a better looking steak, ever. But then I did have a steak sized appetite. Point I'm making, it was friggin awesome! Their marinade or whatever secrets they do to their ribeye is just a bit more than I know how to do. I made the right choice, grilled to perfection and accompanied by a sweet potato the size of a cantaloupe. Then there's Dana, top ten bartender in my world!
