Grabbed dinner here the night before thanksgiving. It was not busy at all when we got there around 7. Service was kind. I ordered a pumpkin beer on tap and it was delish! My husband and I shared the catfish, tater tots, and broccoli salad. COMFORT FOOD. Sitting in the booth, smelling the kitchen, enjoying the chatter of other diners taking the first bite immediately sent me back home. We have had take out from them before. But have never been into the restaurant. Great service. Great hospitality Excellent food. I had the KC strip with creamed corn and Tater Tots( yes sorry but one of my favorite things) . Wife had the catfish strips with fries and green beans. Delicious! Fast! Friendly! I travel through Moberly on occasion for work and have stopped at CSCG a handful of times now. Each time the food has been delicious and quick to the table and staff is delightful. Stop by and eat a bite even if it's just for the creamed corn, as delicious as your Granny's. Good food, good service, good atmosphere. Easy to miss if you are passing through Moberly because it's in town but worth a small detour. Great for a quick lunch or dinner. Family friendly but does have a bar. I've tried a lot of items on the menu and haven't been disappointed with any of it. The appetizers South West Egg rolls and the pretzels with beer cheese are great and I love the French Dip. The spicy chicken sandwich is always good. They always offer a daily special too. Beer is good and cold like the atmosphere but feels like I'm in my moms basement. A lot of locals for sure that's a good sign and they have daily specials. There salad was good not soggy like some other lucky place. Asked if the burgers were good answer no it was. A frozen patty tasted like a sams club. They need to use fresh meat it be nice thus the 3 stars. Not sure I'll go back i may try one more time but no to the frozen burger patty. read more

I love coming to Coates Street when I visit my dad. We come at least a couple of times during my stay. It's my favorite spot in Moberly. I love the character of the restaurant, especially the ceiling, and I love how friendly everyone is. Coming from San Diego, I am always amazed at how fair everything is priced. Come check them out. This is where the old folks go for dinner. It is located in an interesting old building and the atmosphere is very comfortable. The service is good but unfortunately the food is pretty average midwestern fare. This obviously perfect for a lot of midwesterners from Moberly because the place was packed on Thursday evening. My chicken fried steak was not very good except for the gravy and the side order of creamed corn. The fillings of my wife's tacos were good but the flour tortillas were pretty bad. We were there with my local family and they enjoyed their food. I hope they don't want to take us back. By the way, we are from the south so don't pay any attention to me. read more

Food was great server was beyond great but the prices were a little bit out of my league. Besides, for that I'd say they got a hometown café that's going to be around for a while as long as you have the money to afford it because it's kind of a bit out of my league, but I did enjoy the visit and the service was excellent and the waitress was so kind and I appreciated the kindness as my family was in town visiting and they were treated with respect were a lot of other places weren't so respectful to my guess they won't be in business as long as this establishment will because I guess it's worth the extra money. If you have it , you don't even have to call ahead ahead and come for the goodness and the kindness, It seems to be freely given to all, so I guess somethings are worth paying for you just have to save, but that's not so bad is it and the tea is great!! Haven't visited Moberly in a while. I found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. The restaurant was very clean and updated and the staff was friendly. Our group has a burger, tenderloin, and the roast beef. Service was quick and the food was excellent. It was good to see that the restaurant was busy because I want them to do well so I can visit them again whenever I'm back in town. read more
