My son took us to breakfast at The Brick in Moberly and we were definitely not disappointed. The portions were generous, the food was excellent, and the whole place just had a welcoming hometown feel to it. The Breakfast Feast was flat-out delicious and easily enough food to keep you going the rest of the day. But honestly, what stood out just as much as the food was the staff. Dang, they were GOOD -- friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed happy to have people there. That kind of service is getting harder to find. Terrible service and food!!! Waited an hour for our food and when we finally got it the food was cold. The waitress was terribly rude on two occasions and not the least sympathetic about the wait time for the food. Had breakfast and it was good not amazing. We had inlets and they were full of meat, veggies, etc. they were not generous on cheese. We ordered and it took 30 minutes to get our food. 2 of us ordered our hashbrowns extra crispy but only one of us got them crispy. read more

The food is pretty basic but it's good. Their home cut fries have always been cooked perfectly, not to limp and not too crisp. Nothing ruins home made fries than cooking them to death for me. They usually have a daily special but if they let you substitute it's not with many choices. The décor is nothing special, and as hard as I try, I can't tell you what color or what kind of décor it is. It's just there. The dining area is set up oddly as others have stated and the stairs are blocked by a couple of small tables. This used to be an old restaurant/bar and I believe the bar was upstairs and it used to be in bad shape. That might be why they don't utilize it. If you are looking for pretty basic diner food, this will fit the bill. On any given day, it is filled with senior citizens enjoying breakfast or lunch. Parking is on the street with a parking lot across the street. It's not that far to walk and easier than trying to back out. read more

I used to come to The Brick with my friends every now and then. The restaurant is pretty inside but the layout was kind of odd. I really wish they opened the upstairs, but every time I went there it was blocked off and looked strange. I'm sure there's a reason why they don't let people go up there though. The back of the restaurant looked very dark and uncomfortable but the seating by the window looked much more attractive. I never liked sitting near the back but luckily, I've never had to sit against the back wall. The closest I got was in the dead center of the restaurant. The food here is pretty basic, they have pretty typical selections and the food is what you would expect. They have large tables so they can accommodate large groups. The staff is always friendly. My favorite waitress was the girl with the Irish/Scottish accent. Around peak lunch and dinner times, the restaurant is pretty busy. It's safe to expect some noise. It's really family friendly and I have taken kids here before. They also decorate a bit around the holidays. I don't really like the parking here, however. They have parking on the street and there is a nearby lot you can park in. However, if you park in the lot you have to cross the street. In the Winter, I suppose a long walk is something I would rather avoid. Overall, it's a cute place but the interior is a little awkwardly planned. The food is what you would expect, the portions are enough to fill you up. It's kid friendly, and you should prepare to walk in to some noise. The staff is friendly too, which is always nice. My entire dining experience can be summed up in a single word - Average. The food was good for what it was, and the decor had almost no flavor though it served its duty as a downtown lunchtime eatery, and was ultimately very basic. The restaurant was also oddly laid out and winding. I had the breaded pork loin and homemade French fries instead of chips. This pork was dry, and the breading was to blame. It tasted like a shake-and-bake breading and could be resolved with fresher bread and slightly less frying to prevent overlooking. The fries were fantastic and were cooked perfectly, seasoned perfectly and leaves little to be discussed. Get them, I recommend it. The price of the meal was very good at 5.95 for the plate. Overall I'd say if you're in downtown Moberly there are better places to eat, however you really can't beat the price for what you get. read more

I ordered American fries and got seven small slices for $2.50. You probably should get at least a whole potato's worth for that amount. This place has a very mediocre breakfast. I ordered the breakfast skillet which came with hash browns, two eggs, toast, and your choice of meat. Well I ordered the bacon and they served me what looked like the end of the days leftover bacon pieces instead of slices. I'm not sure if this is how they serve the bacon for this dish or if I just got unlucky. Additionally I ordered a side of biscuits and gravy. The biscuits and gravy were done first and were brought out while the rest of my food cooked (please note this was not an appetizer). I don't know about everyone else but I like all of my meal together. By the time my food came the biscuits and gravy were cold. The biscuits and gravy were not very good and it seems that the biscuits weren't warmed so the gravy just sat on them and cooled. The person with me got French toast which was just alright. At the end of the meal the wrong prices were on our ticket as well. Not very impressed and won't be going back. read more

Only been here once, at lunch time. It was fairly busy, which is a pretty good sign. The food was decent, and they serve breakfast all day, which for me is a plus, I could eat breakfast for any meal of the day. I had 2 scrambled eggs, bacon (6 large pieces), hash browns (cup and a half maybe?), and toast (2 full pieces, cut in halves). Everything was okay, nothing mind blowing about the food I had, but it was good. Servings are large on everything I noticed at my table and other tables while we were there. Service was fairly quick and servers were friendly and provided excellent service. I would probably rate the food i had overall as 3 to 3.5 stars, Average or better, but the service and portion sizes more than make up for that. I would definitely give them another try, and I would say it would be worth your time to give them a try also. I didn't try them myself, but others at my table said their fries were very good. read more
