I've been frequenting this spot since I've been on a job here a while and today was a horrible experience. Their new staff told me to sit anywhere and so I went and seated myself. I sat waiting over 10 minutes and nobody ever came to give me a menu or even a drink. I was pretty furious. I just left. I have eaten here a few times, and each time was so-so. The major thing going for Funny Pages is the atmosphere and their ice cream. They have some really delicious sundae concoctions along with some tasty flavors if you're looking for something simple. I came here to eat for desert more often than I did to eat a meal. The parking lot is very spacious, making it very difficult to not have a spot to park in. This restaurant is very family friendly. The waitresses there have always been really nice to me too. The atmosphere consists of various cartoon characters painted on the wall along with cartoon memorabilia. Because this restaurant is family friendly, you often get "lunch and a show" complete with crying or loud kids. The restaurant isn't always noisy however, especially at night. The food is okay, it's pretty basic food like burgers, corn dogs, and grilled cheese types of food. Nothing I couldn't make at home, but eating out once in awhile is nice. It's a good place to eat lunch if you're on the go, and a good place to get desert if you want to celebrate something with friends or family. read more

Was in this restaurant earlier today with some coworkers. We were very impressed with the atmosphere when we first walked in. Ordered chai tea to start and was very satisfied with it. My coworker ordered a cinnamon rolls, salad, and small burger. None of her food was decent enough that she finished eating it and our waitress who we were informed was the waitress manager continued to be rude. The atmosphere & decor at Funny Pages is very quirky and odd, with a huge mishmash of different styles & eras. Me and my husband both got a kick out of the cartoons on the restroom walls. The service was quite good, despite a mistake that delayed our order, we were satisfied. The food is excellent for this type of fare. My husband loves omelets and said his veggie skillet here was the best he's had anywhere. I went for the Betty Boop special, a smallish but very delicious double cheeseburger with excellent fries (great crunchy breading on them), a generous one scoop caramel sundae and a drink all for one price. It was the right stop for us on a long day of travel. They also advertise a wide array of coffee drinks (we didn't try those). I would recommend this place if you don't mind a bit of eccentric dive atmosphere and want good old fashioned American food in a hometown type of joint. read more

My only complaint is that I live an hour away. This "one off" establishment is a refreshing change from typical fast food restaurant. I had their Tom and Jerry breakfast: the pancake was excellent, the eggs were cooked just as I ordered, bacon- bacon is always great, and the hash browns were perfectly prepared. Even the waitress was wonderful; very accommodating and pleasant. I'd suggest trying this restaurant before going to the numerous fast food places that surrounds them. read more

I have eaten here several times on visits to Moberly to see our in-laws. It is one of our boys' favorite restaurants. Food is good, atmosphere is great. We always look forward to hearing the daily jokes. I got the Brutus Gut Buster. Holy moly, they weren't joking on that one! It is huge. I lived in Springfield, IL, home of the Horseshoe. So let me start off with I tend to ignore kitch as long as it's not in my face and this place does an excellent job of that, i.e. you won't even notice unless you are paying attention. Now onto the review, what's to say? Great service, great prices, and great basic breakfast (I order a denver omelet everywhere I go as my standard comparison for first visits unless specifically going for a certain dish). Staff was friendly, efficient, attentive, and not overbearing, denver omelet was solid and cooked the way it should be (not overly airy, not overly greasy, vegetables el dente) and they had the right breakfast salsa (i.e. grocery store bulk salsa, i.e. Pace) for it though I had to sub cheeses as unfortunately they fall victim to the Midwest problem of "american cheese for everything by default!!!", hash browns were excellent and not overly greasy, and parking ample. Now that isn't to say it's perfect but hey where is? My three critiques of the place are first off I asked for butter on my toast and I either got margarine or butter so bad it might as well have been and that is as shame as even mediocre butter is cheap and they have access to some excellent fresh Amish butter right up the road. It was so bad I tossed the toast after a single bite and that's telling when it's not even edible. Second off, and this annoys me at lots of venues, was the table. It was too small for our party (four person table, we had six), was too low and I'm not even tall, and was a pedestal table which NO restaurant should ever use period as they both tend to lean over time and near impossible to rebalance as well as severely lean causing food to slide when a person at one end puts their arms on the table. If you must use a damn pedestal table at least get a sturdy one!!! Lastly I utterly despise powdered gravy for biscuits and gravy. Excellent sausage breakfast gravy takes what, ten minutes and four dirt cheap readily available and at hand in the kitchen ingredients. I simply don't understand why restaurants everywhere feel the need to use instant gravy (this place) or foo foo it up (not this place), it's not f'ing hard. White flour, milk, greasy sausage, and tons of pepper .. done, Jesus people!!! Anyways I would go again if I was ever in the area though TBH given the last time I was around there was thirty five years ago I don't expect to be again in my lifetime but who knows. Still it beats every breakfast joint in all of Honolulu save two and that is saying something both of the quality of this place and the utter worthlessness of breakfast joints in Hawaii. I can't speak to lunch or dinner but breakfast, if you are in the area and come from a breakfast desert, hit this place up if looking for a solid greasy spoon. read more

Funny Pages is quaint and quirky! I love the comics and jokes. It's decor is always cartoon characters, but ever rotating and changing. I always get a nice surprise. Watch out for the homemade jokes in the bathroom. They're so silly! The food is hometown diner quality and varies with the cook. The service is great and with a smile. read more

Got my milkshake late, never got our waters, entered my order incorrectly, and when she brought it back out it was still wrong, food was cold when it finally arrived, and 4 waitresses walked past us while we were waiting to pay, and didn't help us. She did comp my shake for the inaccuracies, but since she overfilled it and it ran all over our table, I think we're even. I hadn't came here for months and I think that I won't return for months more, until they get their act together. There were 4 waitress for maybe 12 tables... Every time we've come here my wife has had problems with her food. The first time her food was cold coming out and the restaurant staff argued with us about it. The subsequent time we ate here my wife was served rotten potatoes and once again an argument with staff ensued. Customer is always right? Here only begrudgingly. We stopped here on our way out of town. The atmosphere is so fun with all the cartoon and comic characters everywhere. The food is amazing. I had the regular hamburger and onion rings; while, my boyfriend has the chicken philly with onion rings. The service is friendly and makes sure your tea glass doesn't become empty. The burger was huge and sooo tasty I couldn't finish the whole thing but I did eat all the scrumptious onion rings. Don't usually do reviews, but we were in Moberly today for grandson's basketball tournament. Between games we went to Funny Pages for lunch. I ordered a hamburger and fries and what do you usually eat with fries? Ketchup of course....the ketchup they had was not much more than colored water! When I mentioned it to server she said yeah they had a case come in that way.....why would you serve this nasty stuff to your customers? So, we went for my bday dinner, and my daughter was served a burger with moldy bread. The moment we seen that, appetite for all us was killed. They did not charge us for her meal, but the rest of our meal was spent wondering what else was possibly not up to par. Was the parfait I ordered not chilled at proper refrigerator temp? The same with the catfish we ordered. And my husband had a burger also. Openfaced so we didn't see the bottom bun. We love this place, but I question now the quality of the food and how its kept. I don't know if we will be going back. Their fries are amazing, love the atmosphere but my daughter ate just under half her burger before she noticed. Breakfast was delicious. Everything homemade and fresh. Bagels made in house were decadent! Biscuits and gravy...1 biscuit is the size of 2 normal biscuits anywhere else. Prices were reasonable, staff friendly. Coffee is delicious! Definitely a go to spot in Moberly! read more

I ordered a Chicken Chipolte Salad with 1/2 a cheese quesadilla, exactly how it is written on the menu. When I received my food I got a chicken quesadilla. I showed the waitress what I ordered on the menu and she said that is what I got and walked away. I waited a couple and had her come back and read her the description on the menu and she said Oh it is a salad. They said they would not charge me for the order, my husband had finished his salad by then so we paid for his order and left. Seriously, talk about wacky shack! First off, the coffee bar was whispering to me from the gravy pit. My friend even puked in the backyard! As a Pixar guy, all the pictures on the wall were quite the tempting mistress. The bakery pastry run-off was uber dank, but I ate a creme fraiche. I saw a gentleman go out to the backyard to puke because of a non-related issue involving a non-square crust problem. One of the cooks winked at me and I think he was using a squeegee to to push the gravy into the junkyard dog platter. One of the locals was giving me the stink eye, but that was cool because he didn't take much time in the bathroom. I heard someone refer to him as 'Swisher.' May have been a nickname or something but I didn't ask about the backstory. He wore a orange shirt and a lighter was dungarees shorts. I'm pretty sure our waitress was breaking the 'non-skid shoes only' policy, but I was honestly chill once she started telling us laffy taffy jokes. The fresh jalapeños were a good touch, but it gave me some serious BM issues and I'm pretty sure I offended the sick guy in the backyard. FYI, this is a non-pet friendly establishment, and the backyard is NOT fenced in. My pet muskrat, Bikini, was runnin amuck and pretty much hated his life. I order the 'John Daly Sweat Lodge Burger,' and a Diet lemonade. Honestly, the drink was a little fizzy for a non-circular pizza crust guy like me, but the girl next to me in the luxury SUV had a medicine cabinet in her purse. This is why I gave the restaurant. 4 stars instead of a 4.5. Welp, I'm off to Odessa now and I'm hoping to find an establishment that serves jerky Jew and also has an Angry Birds claw machine that doesn't just steal my money. If Shell Silverstein was to write a novel about the Funny Pages Cafe, it would probably be titled 'The Giving Tree 2 featuring gravy squeegee Jim and Swisher.' I'll probably be ordering the fried dingo and slaw on my next visit, which probably won't be until next year's NCAA women's softball World Series. read more
