The one star is for the greetings and staff. I would say this is a locals place. Not thrilled with the food they try but Gordon Ramsey would call this place ableephole. And I have to agree the chef can only cook what he's provided. I had the lucky salad with there special dressing tasted like bleep. I was very surprised that people would choose this place to come out and eat. But I haven't tried all the menu. We've been going to Lucky's for years but I'm not really sure why... we waited over an hour tonight just for our appetizer. Everything took so long our server apologized profusely and told us she was going to discount our meal. When her manager realized this, she refused to do so stating that everyone had to wait a long time tonight, and that one table waited 2 hours for their food. Management here is unprofessional at best. The food isn't great either. Something is usually cold or just plain wrong. We won't be back. read more

Great place to eat and spend the evening in Moberly, MO. The nachos on the appetizer menu are a great choice. The steak and chicken strips are good choices for entrees. We had a dinner and a few drinks in the dining area and then walked over to the bar area to enjoy a live band and few more drinks. They also have pool tables for entertainment. read more

The service was excellent. Our waitress couldn't have been better. Always asking us if we needed anything, refilling our drinks when we needed them, the perfect host. Sorry to say when the food arrived what a big disappointment. There where four of us dining this evening. Three out of four of us ordered the side salads. When they arrived the tomatoes on the salad were rotten and had the appearance as if worms had been eating on them. This was not the waitress fault this was the fault of the kitchen staff. We all received the same salads back with different tomatoes on them needless to say we hardly touched these. The next portion of the meal was pretty much all sandwiches which were good for the most part except for one thing, everyone ordered fries with there meal and by the time we did get the sandwiches the fries were cold. It was as if the kitchen cooked the fries first then cooked the sandwiches. Nobody finished there fries. One meal did come with a grilled piece of bread but it was stale. My family has eaten here before and it is usually pretty good but to have so many thing go wrong in one meal makes me wonder if they were having a bad night or was it a disgruntled employee that didn't care what he was serving the public this evening. I hope the owner gets this problem resolved. I am going to give this place one more try so I'll be adding to this review in the future. Ok so we returned to Lucky's Last resort again and I ordered the $8.99 catfish basket. I guess I know why it's called Lucky's. Your lucky to get any catfish with this meal. My husband and I have tried to like this restaurant as it is close to home but we have never had a good experience with it. The food is ok, service is consistently terrible. I've tried everything from steak to salads at this place and it seems they make up for poor food quality with quantity. They are more of a bar than a restaurant so if you go, drink a lot that way you won't mind the terrible service or the food. On the up side it does have a nice outdoor area and it appears to be fairly clean. I've got no worries about bringing our young son with us other than the service is so slow it might be hard to keep him occupied if he were in toddler years. read more

The service was very slow our entire visit. You seat yourself and we waited a while for our waitress to approach the table. It was hard to get her attention to ask for extra napkins and drink refills. The food here matched the poor service. We had the smaller appetizer basket that had fried mushrooms, mozzarella sticks, and fried ravioli. The mozzarella sticks were limp and everything tasted like mushrooms...except the ravioli filling that kind of tasted like what I assume my dog's food tastes like. I also had a burger which just tasted like a frozen patty. Nothing special about the burger. Overall, the food was just lack luster and sad. This use to be a good place to go eat with the family, but over the past few months of us going, the service has been horrible and the food has declined as well. We have ordered a pizza the last two times we were there, which used to be great, and the crust was soggy and not fully cooked. The service has been terrible. We sat for 25 mins one night, at a dirty table with dishes and cups, and the server never once came by to clean the table or check on us. She was too busy talking to her family and little kid at the table right behind us. Last night we had a good waitress who did take care of us, but the pizza once again was soggy. They have also been out of a lot of the dressings and topping for their major salads and dishes. They need to take more pride and ownership in the place. Moberly needs good restaurants. read more

Came out the other Saturday night for dinner and dancing and was eager to check out the new duds of the Lucky's dance hall section which I will always call City Limits. Food was surprisingly good with ample portions and a very attentive waitress. We finished up and had hoped to move our drinks over to the dance hall right around 730 but the doors were locked so we waited along with I noticed several other patrons for the doors to open to the dance hall section. The band was supposed to start at 8 but surprisingly when we finally got in the door, it looked like the band had just got there and had their stuff all over the dance floor. Right about then, while they were setting up, their food came so they stopped to eat. Meanwhile we are sitting here in complete silence along with several other early bird groups of people who were there more to dance than to drink. Some observations that I think would improve your business because I really really want this place to succeed... if the real expectations for the band to start playing is 9, then post "doors open at 8 and band starts at 9". During that time, how about playing some country music for all of us waiting? And what's with the baby cup mixed drinks? Now what I like....this place looks like a real Texas honky tonk. Very cool interior. The lights are super cool and the wooden ceilings are really nice. The bathrooms are also really really nice. I hope they can hold up to this town and the younger crowd. The waitress staff from the bar did an excellent job of checking in at the perfect time so getting refilled wasn't any problem. This place is NO SMOKING so that was WONDERFUL. The band, OneHorse Town, once they started up was FANTASTIC. They put on one hell of a show and we really appreciated not having to pay a cover to see such a rocking country band. We more than made up for no cover by buying several "mini" mixed drinks. All in all, we plan on being a regular fixture as your "older crowd"...coming early and leaving around 1130 when your younger more rowdy crowd shows up. Thanks for opening this place back up. Great casual restaurant in Moberly MO. Very good sandwiches, pizza, pasta, and steak. Try the hand breaded tenderloin. Nice selection of beers on tap. Stay away from the house wine. My family and I ate at Lucky's tonight and it very well may be our last night. The food was absolutely repulsive. First, as our salads are brought to the table I notice rotten slices of tomatoes in my husbands salad. Very visibly rotten tomatoes I might add. We sent all of our salads back assuming that all our tomatoes where sliced from the same rotten tomato. So - They replace all of our salads, however, not with fresh new salads mind you, but with the same salads leaving us to discover they had just picked out the tomatoes and then added new ones. Ewe! What comes with rotten tomatoes - worms! None of us could eat them. A little while later our meals arrive - it was obvious that all the fries on every plate had been cooked first before our burgers/Entrees. They were cold, lifeless disgusting things that no one wanted to eat. Not even the 20 mo old dining with us would eat them. My husbands bread was stale and inedible as well. After complaining to the waitress an adjustment was made to one bill for the cost of a side salad. 2 couples eating - 2 separate bills - horrible food all the way around and they only see fit to adjust one bill and only the cost of one salad. Didn't seem fair to us so we report back to the waitress and request that an equal adjustment be made to the other couples bill. Next thing we know the owner, visibly pissed off, comes out to our table bringing much attention directly to our table and tells us not to worry about our bills. I tried to say something to him and he turns his back and storms off like an immature child. NOT an appropriate way to handle the situation to say the least. We were not requesting free food, but only that an equal adjustment to the other couples bill be made. Simple fairness. We eat at this establishment regularly and have never had service this deplorable before. I do however want to mention that our waitress, whose name we can't remember - was absolutely fabulous! She stayed right on top of our every need. My husband is willing to give them another chance, but due to the owners attitude I'm not so sure I will. read more
