Came here on a whim, for lunch, passing through town--ordered the Grilled chicken Fresh Greens salad and had their house vinaigrette--very tasty. Some leaves were a bit wilted but not enough to be off-putting. Service was okay; not like we needed much anyway. I'd go again if I was passing through. Not too noisy.

We stopped by the Pear Tree for a weeknight dinner when we were passing through Macon on a road trip. Our food was OK and crowd was lively, but warning that service is VERY slow. We ordered the caesar salad, voodoo salmon and 1/2 roasted chicken with Brussels sprouts and fries for sides. The fries were the best thing we ordered, crispy and flavorful. Our other dishes were solid, but nothing outstanding; I anticipated more based upon the elevated pricing. This is not a terrible option for a visit if you're in town, but allow time to hang out while food is being prepared.

We eat at The Pear Tree (AJ's) a lot. It's our families favorite place for taking out-of-town guests, and celebrating special family memories. I have never had a bad experience at this restaurant most likely because of their high standard of excellence. This restaurant was founded by Albert Abbadessa, and now his son, Michael, runs the restaurant. The Ambiance is romantic, and the service is great! Our favorite waitress is Katie. Be sure to call ahead for reservations! The restaurant is only open Wednesday thru Saturday.

If you're ever close to Macon or driving through, this is the place to stop. With a vast menu, it has options for everyone. The Caesar salad is a must, and the wedding cake is such a fun treat! I had the bolognese and it was absolutely delicious. This is a casual to semi formal place to enjoy a meal as a family, or a special date night. We sat at the bar and the service was great!

Cute little restaurant at the intersection of highways 36 & 63, in Macon. Great upscale, country chic atmosphere with superior food. The portion are huge so you'll have take home if you don't split a meal. The piece' da resistance' is the salad dressing caddy with F O U R HOMEMADE salad dressings!!!!! I live to drive thru Macon do I can eat here. The dressings are simple ingredient made and delicious; ranch, French, blue cheese and house. Do yourself a favor and EAT HERE!!!

Great Service, Ambiance, food, dessert, and drink options. Loved that they had a few mocktail options as well.

Great food, great service, quick, very clean, a little pricey but very expected with this caliber of an establishment.

This place is soooooo good! Up front, I have to admit that I've never had their burgers or steaks. I hear they're awesome, but I can't get past their salads. Everything is super fresh. The croutons are homemade. And the salad dressing! OMG!!!!! They bring you a selection of four homemade dressings. I don't even like French dressing, but theirs is good. Still, I always go with the house vinaigrette or ranch. Service is fast and friendly. If anything, it's a bit pricey, especially for Macon. But, I think it's worth it. The building doesn't look like much from the outside, but the interior is really cool. You have to try this place! Don't drive through Macon. Stop here!

Food, service, everything was great! I got their Caesar salad with grilled chicken! Had an enjoyable night with a friend!

We sat and sat and there were only 2 other tables in the whole place. Sat and listened to the waitress tell another table loudly about her new vehicle purchase when I felt after a half an hour maybe she should have checking where our medium rare steaks were. She came by and asked if we were doing okay and my husband and I both asked why it was taking so long and her response was "I guess he didn't see your ticket" she guesses? Finally get our food and they both came with undercooked sweet potatoes and I specifically asked when I was ordering if they have sweet potatoes today. Her reply was yes. So when I got her attention and told her it was hard and undercooked I said if they have regular baked I'd take that instead. Then we were told the morning cook forgot to put them in this am. My reply was "I guess people are forgetting a lot around here today." Got the baked potato w only butter because I asked for my sweet potato w only butter no brown sugar so then her next time by I asked for it. She was then slamming things behind the counter where we were sitting and sighing heavily and at one point caught her apron on something and yelled out. Just not a pleasant experience and I just got in from Iowa today and was super excited to go to the hoof. Not so much anymore.

If someone were to ask me to invent a restaurant I would want in North Missouri, the answer is…read morebasically Sebree's. It is a daydream come true (wistful, but more grounded in reality). And Sebree's manages to be better than I could have imagined. Sebree's is the embodiment of what I hope restaurants in this part of the world can be. We have so much to offer, it's a matter of bringing it all together. And they do that so well. They have admirably prioritized relationships with area farmers, showcasing local producers. Where they do go outside the immediate region (seafood), they make a point of keeping the same sort of relationships with small-scale, sustainable producers in those communities. In our visit, the menu was very local - both in content and design. Consisted solely of recognizable dishes folks grew up with here - surf and turf, pasta, bread pudding, there were few surprises. And that's where the surprise was: the execution is on an astounding level. I have seen variations on that menu in so many other places throughout Missouri and beyond. The dish names are the same, but none of them produce like this. So think homestyle food, except in your house you have someone from Greentop who went out and cooked under French and German chefs, then came back for family. Normal stuff. Even something as basic as the bread was excellent, and the honey butter they whipped up for it was ideal. The steak was the best we'd ever had in the area. And the bread pudding was outstanding - I'm still thinking about that caramel. They are passionate about food here and it shows - curious and inventive, evolving the menu throughout the seasons based on what's available. An example of this is their blackberry sorbet. It's lovely. Cindy, the front-of-house side of the wonderful duo who own and operate this place, explained "We ended up with a fantastic crop of blackberries in our garden this year, so I've been figuring out what to do with them ever since. We froze a bunch and I decided to try making a sorbet. So I learned." Fantastic. I love that attitude, and they have the standards and abilities to make special things happen. They pay attention to the quality of details, and it shows. Even the music - the played vintage Uncle Tupelo all through our time there, it was the perfect choice. Maybe that's the metaphor: That combination of heritage and modern craft. Is it perfect? No, of course not. It's very human and honest, and I love that about it. It's making things and tinkering and innovating, and that's much more interesting than the same polished menu with little variation. The citrus slaw was good, but for us it would have worked better as a component in a larger dish - which I think is how it started. The wine list fit in with what's generally available in the region, but it's also an opportunity to raise the level a notch above what you can get at Hy-Vee. Maybe the traffic through the restaurant isn't enough for it, which would totally make sense. Generally speaking, the drink program is fine but doesn't match the level of the food. There is a decent enough looking bar, but they may have been short staffed and this all could be remedied by the time you're reading this. The atmosphere was one of transition, while still good. It and the menu graphic design are sneaky - they don't fully communicate the excellence coming from the kitchen. All of it is completely understandable, and I also would love to see this place playing to its heights. None of these are big deals. We felt comfortable and welcome, and the night was a great time. This place is a conversation with the local community. It makes so much sense. I would love to see that culinary conversation expand to include some of the additional flavors and traditions we have here - Salvadorean pupusas would be a perfect combination with that citrus slaw. It would be fun to see one dish on the menu that steps into more inventive and educational territory - but we've only been once, so they may already be doing that and we just missed it this time. If possible, make reservations - they have a small team, so it's wise to give them a heads up that you're heading their way, right after we got there a table of 12 showed up and I gained an appreciation for Cindy's role as host/air traffic controller. Let's wrap this up: Kirksville is a place that is 3 hours away from the nearest airport, and even though it's just 17,000 people, it's the largest town for a wide radius. It is also a place where you can go from preschool to doctor without leaving the city limits. That's what I love about this area - when people only focus on the limitations, they don't see *us*. And this is what they miss. Sebree's gave me a great meal, but it also feeds a sense of pride and possibility in where we are and who we can be. Maybe that's lofty to say about a surf and turf platter with a house salad, but I defy anyone to come here and walk away with anything but respect.

My total cost ran about $20 including a $1 charge for using a card instead of cash. I expected great things, but honestly was really disappointed. After driving home & opening my to-go bag a short 5 min after receiving my food, I noticed that they didn't include any plasticware or napkins. Additionally, the 3 meats were room temperature at the best. (Not great when eating BBQ.) The baked beans was the only piping hot part of the meal. The ribs were pretty bland and honestly tasted like they had been sitting out under a warmer for awhile, as they weren't fall-off-the bone tender by any means. The pulled pork was mixed with some sort of sauce and the meat was bland, mushy, and reminded me of school lunches. The only saving grace was that the sliced brisket was able to be dunked in the sauce to give it flavor. The sauce is the only reason I rated this meal a 3/5 - while it is a very watery sauce, the flavors blend nicely together and there is a slight kick at the end! Overall though, if meat needs sauce to be decent, it's probably not great bbq in the first place. Maybe this was just an off-day for the restaurant? I ended up only eating half of the BBQ and instead eating my day old salad in the fridge. I'm pretty bummed.
