Man, this is all the rage with the locals, but what a disappointment. I have it a 2 because the special Chilean sea bass was tasty (my husbands dish). But my petri-fried lobster was tough and boring. There were a couple apps - onion rings and mushrooms that were comparable to really good bar food. But nothing to brag about. Service was good and ambiance was just Eh. I doubt we'll be back. This is the best place in mid-Missouri for steak lovers! We have been there twice in the last couple months. The food is amazing from the jumbo shrimp, the Cesar salad, the voodoo salmon, filet mignon and of course the prime rib. Today we have the best appetizer of crab Rangoons. It's some kind of magic they are doing in the kitchen! Steak and salmon were cooked perfectly to order. The service staff is amazing! They are attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. We were seated quickly after arrival, but did make a reservation to be sure as our 5 month old was with us. They accommodated the stroller easily. I loved the salad as they brought dressing to the table and allowed you to have as much as you want of the dressing. Huge plus there as most do not. The croutons were fabulous. The steak is easily the best feature. I had the 12 oz. Filet mignon and it was fantastic. The breading on the lobster tail was the only negative. I would have rather had it normal without breading. The atmosphere is busy and a bit loud, but worth it. Great service. I highly recommend this restaurant, but be ready because it is also the most expensive within 60-100 miles. We stopped by the Pear Tree for a weeknight dinner when we were passing through Macon on a road trip. Our food was OK and crowd was lively, but warning that service is VERY slow. We ordered the caesar salad, voodoo salmon and 1/2 roasted chicken with Brussels sprouts and fries for sides. The fries were the best thing we ordered, crispy and flavorful. Our other dishes were solid, but nothing outstanding; I anticipated more based upon the elevated pricing. We eat at The Pear Tree (AJ's) a lot. It's our families favorite place for taking out-of-town guests, and celebrating special family memories. I have never had a bad experience at this restaurant most likely because of their high standard of excellence. This restaurant was founded by Albert Abbadessa, and now his son, Michael, runs the restaurant. The Ambiance is romantic, and the service is great! Our favorite waitress is Katie. Pork tenderloin was incredible. I almost thought it was a chicken cutlet. Service was awful 7/6 at 8:30 pm. Yes I get it that you close at 9 but it wasn't an issue for the obvious local customers. Brunette waitress was more unpleasant than any I've ever had to sit through a meal with. We were traveling home and just wanted a meal that wasn't fast food but it was ruined by her acting like we were bothering her. Meanwhile a 30-something couple next to us ordered dessert at 9:15 as we had wrapped up and she was all over whatever they needed. Friend and I stopped here for lunch on the way home from Iowa. We had been there once before about five years ago. From start to finish everything was first rate. The restaurant was busy but we were immediately seated and drink orders taken. We started with onion rings which were some of the best I've had. Upon driving up into this parking lot, I didn't expect much. Yet, going into this restaurant the inside is large, well decorated, and the ambience is warmly inviting. We had reservations so we were seated right away. The waitperson arrived immediately to take our drink order. We ordered iced tea along with appetizers of Twisted Shrimp and Cheese Ravioli. The tea was crisp and clear. The shrimp and ravioli whetted our appetite -- they were so good we ate every bit. Our crispy salads with freshly made garlic croutons was -- wowzer -- those croutons! Two of us ordered marinated salmon with orzo pasta and broccoli. The portions were larger than I anticipated. I have a full lunch now too and I'm thrilled. If you are in the area. This place is a MUST. We came in about an hour before closing, just the two of us. We ordered cocktails. They had a great selection of whiskey drinks and even aged some of their stuff in house which was cool. I ordered the ribeye which I was hesitant to order since it's a bit more money than I'd usually spend at a restaurant but I am SO glad I did. It was perfectly cooked medium rare and so juicy and tender. Highly recommend. The Caesar salad that came with it was delicious as well. Probably the best Caesar I've ever had. My partner got the chicken piccata and was equally as happy with it. We also got a slice of turtle cheesecake to split which was absolutely perfect in every way. The food was all perfectly timed to come out and was very well presented and delicious. The service was outstanding. I have not seen service like this in a long time! Teamwork is hard to find in restaurants now. Cups never went low and always came back to make sure we were doing great. They also came back to clear our table which was full of dishes we ordered and they made sure our table was always cleaned off after every plate. The atmosphere had low calming lights and very good ambience to relax and eat. Ordered 2 large orders onion rings because they are so highly reviewed and so glad we did! Light breading, not greasy. Very good!! Crab Rangoon tasted like real crab! Huge rib eye steak cooked perfectly and delicious flavor. Shrimp fettuccine made with their homemade (tasted so fresh) noodles and a good amount of creamy Alfredo- I like my own so I was nervous about ordering but it exceeded expectations! I believe the dressings are in house made and they're really tasty! Sriracha honey Brussels were crisp and yummy with a slight heat to them. Kids loved the shoestring fries-they serve plenty. They brought out vanilla ice cream for our 4yr old granddaughter's bday. It was absolutely the BEST vanilla ice cream I've ever had. So creamy and strong vanilla flavor!! I didn't see it on the menu but I will definitely save room for it when I go back everything was so delicious and well prepared. On Vacation driving through Northern Missouri. Decided to try the Pear Tree Kitchen for dinner. We were definitely pleasantly surprised. The prices were higher than we expected but the food was amazing. They serve a shareable salad to the table with all the meals. We had been on the road for hours and the salad was superb. They bring out all 4 of their homemade salad dressings as options with the amazing salad. Options were a house vinaigrette, Zippy Blue Cheese, Ranch, or French dressing. The salad came topped with sliced red peppers, carrots, cucumbers, red onions, and homemade croutons. Served with warm rolls. I opted for The Ringer cheeseburger with a loaded baked potato. It came topped with a hand breaded onion ring. So good. And Juicy!!! Mom had fish and chips. She said the batter on the fish was light and delicious. Food came out quick and they kept our drinks full. If we are in the area again we will definitely stop back in. read more

Fantastic lunch. We had a reservation at 5 pm for 8 to 10 people, but we didn't get seated until 6 pm, which is the only reason I'm not giving 5 stars. Due to the large number of clients, there wasn't enough space for our party. BUT they compensated for this by providing excellent complementary starters to the table. highly suggestible We shared the bone marrow butter, 20 oz. roast prime rib (medium rare), ribeye, and beef medallions with batter-dipped lobsters. The steak was delicious and cooked to perfection. The steak's fatty chunks practically melted in your tongue. No chewy or toughness. We had a variety of sauces to test with our steaks at the table. Additionally, we had burgers, bolognese, chicken alfredo, salmon that had been marinated, chicken piccata, battered prawns, and more. Undoubtedly an expensive meal given the number of guests and the food, but well worth the cost. One of the best restaurants in the surrounding several counties! Nice interior, good staff and yummy food. Amazing fried portobello mushrooms app. But we also like the onion rings and raviolis. Steaks are always lovely but so are burgers and sandwiches. I'm always looking forward to trying something else. My one complaint is for the sides. They're lacking some traditional fries or tots. The shoe string ones just aren't appealing to most of our group. I do love their baked potatoes though. They have a really nice chive loaded sour cream, even the baby loved it. Desserts have all been yummy but I'm only so so on their ice cream. It's not bad, I'm just not a fan as has some grainy texture off and on.
