Not at all what I expected! I thought this would be just a local boring restaurant. Wrong! Oh, the croutons!!! Soft, buttery and crunchy. This is the second restaurant in my 47 years that rock the croutons. Amazing. Tried Caesar, ranch and house vinaigrette and loved them all. They all have the same essence. Maybe anchovy? Amazing, all three. Roll was good but ust a roll. Steak, sea bass and onion rings were fantastic. Aujus was fantastic and steak was buttery soft. Onion rings weren't greasy and weren't too big or too small. Sea bass cooked well and I liked the corn salsa which surprised me. Goodness I've missed this place. It was a treat to be in the area and stop by for some takeout. If you're deciding whether or not to go here, stop reading this and just go. It's excellent. Plenty can be said, but a few quick notes from our meal: Their onion rings are exceptional. Their salads are vibrant. I don't particularly like salads, but they have salads that make me like salads. I've been thinking of their salads for over a decade after the last time I had eaten here. Not only are the vegetables just somehow better than what I normally get, their croutons and dressing are superb. I would take a job here just to learn how to do that, it would make me a better person. Their shrimp Alfredo was excellent. My partner said it was the best she'd ever had. The broccoli casserole was excellent and can't at all be healthy. Glad it was a side and not entree sized. The curbside process was very good, looking forward to returning when we can eat indoors safely again. Very sad to lose the ambiance of the original location- there was something so special about a national-caliber restaurant in such a small town and beautiful old building. The strip mall roadhouse diner feel is also a hidden gem in its own way, but while still offering an amazing surprise it doesn't have quite the same contrast and charm- and I hope that doesn't obscure the quality of what they do. The Pear Tree has been a north Missouri institution for decades, and rightly so. I hope that continues for many more. I don't know another restaurant like it that comes anywhere close. read more

We stopped for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. When we arrived we were seated right away even though it was busy - the place is huge! Our server took our order right away and the food arrived quickly and was piping hot! They grind their own burgers which were amazing. You get a salad at the beginning of the meal that is also delicious - mixed greens, carrot, peppers, onion, croutons, and more. We can't wait to stop back for dinner! read more

The plain entrance to The Pear Tree belies what is a very lovely and comfortable dinning room. Driving across Missouri we were lucky to stop in Macon at Pear Tree for lunch. They have a great menu with lots of options for premium steaks, hearty hamburgers and full entree salads. I enjoyed the grilled chicken Caesar salad and my other half had a full garden salad that was piled with fresh, crisp vegetables. The service was exceptionally attentive. First the server doesn't pay attention, this causes the kitchen to send the wrong order and then the waitress pretends not to notice that my grilled chicken salad I ordered if deep fried chicken sliced up. Menu is very deep fried centric on all foods except the steak. After fixing my grilled chicken salad the chicken was ice cold and clearly cooked before shift or the day before. My wife's fries came out the kitchen ice cold but the flavor was good. The best thing about this restaurant is the rolls and the house salad dressing. After complaining they did express their apologies and discounted the ticket and said they have new kitchen staff. read more

The first time we ate there we had the soul which was delicious love the family style salad with homemade dressing. The bread for me was pretty tough and hard to chew. The second time we ate there we had prime rib never again. It was more like a rump roast very stringy, dry, over cooked, we ordered it medium rare and it came out with no pink at all. You had to chew it a lot. The prime rib was way over priced we paid $105 for two 8oz prime rib dinners, never again. We got the wedding cake for dessert which was very dry and old. read more

One of the best places in the area. Atmosphere is great and the staff are amazing. Our waitress was constantly checking on us and making everything was going well. Enough of that though, the food was AMAZING! There wasn't a single thing we ordered that was disappointing. We got the onion ring appetizer, I got the special bone in rib-eye they had and my wife got their Alfredo. All the food was prepared perfectly and the aged beef definitely made it even better. I am so glad to be able to add this on yelp. This restaurant is fairly new to this town, so we were told. We happened to be passing through and we were going to stop at the 36 restaurant because of the reviews on here, but it closed. This place is fantastic and I will definitely remember it when I pass through again. It is a bit pricey but well worth it, at least for the food we chose. We ordered the phillys. It came with salad and bread. They brought their homemade croutons, feta cheese, and three different kinds of dressing. All housemaid and D'Lish! It was hard to choose which one to use on my salad. I am only sorry that this restaurant is in Macon Mo and I can't eat here more often. If I could I would give them all 10's. The onion rings were cooked to perfection. The salad served in an ice cold bowl and wire carrier set on our table holding four kinds of dressing. A smashed Cheeseburger cooked perfectly and the French fries slightly crispy completed one of the best meals I have ever had. The service was excellent from a pleasant smiling waitress to a busboy that kept our sweet tea glasses topped of and our table quickly cleared of used plates. Between him and our wonderful waitress it was service that would have rivaled an expensive stake house at an upper level resort. A trip to Macon is worth it just to dine at this restaurant. Yum, but it's a MIssouri Cattlemen's Association award winner for good reason--they really, really know how to make a good steak! Famous for their salads, too. Service has always been top notch. The service was amazing. Our server was extremely friendly and helpful. The salad was amazing. It is served in a large bowl for the table to share with individual ice cold salad bowls. Everything about it was excellent, down the the way the carrots were sliced. The dressings were served on the side allowing you to use as much or as little as you desired. Oh, and being about to mix them was so fun. Our server recommended mixing the French and blue cheese. I was skeptical, but let me tell you, it was absolutely amazing. Then when I didn't think it couldn't be any better...I tried the croutons...oh the croutons. Heavenly!! I had the special for the day, which was a french dip sandwich. It was equally delicious. The most delicious food and accommodating staff. Despite it being a busy graduation weekend, management made the effort to seat our large party without issue. Among all of us we had salmon, steaks, pasta, sandwiches and various appetizers. All I heard throughout the dinner were comments such as, "this is the best (fill in the dinner) I have ever had". Service is great they are well staffed. Friday night I had the ribeye special floating in a flavorless pepper corn sauce topped with shoestring potatoes. For starters the bread was good tasted home made. Salad is ok. Steak was undercooked and cooked unevenly so part of it is nearly raw. No seasoning not even salted. They said that it was aged 162 days but it was still kind of tough. Not worth the money .They were super busy so I'll live with it as I will microwave it later and they can live wit my review.
