This is a great hidden gem in the BOOMING metropolis of Monroe City. The inside looks pretty upscale; wide open layout, expensive looking decor/furnishings, and fancy shmancy bottles of tequila on display. Despite its appearance, the menu is actually quite affordable and has lots of good options even for vegetarians. I loved the salsa and the food was delicious, but the chips seemed a little off... stale maybe? I don't know but it's certainly not a deal breaker. We were traveling through the area and stopped for lunch at Casa Tequila. Building looks pretty new. Inside restaurant was spotless clean and had plenty of tables and booths. We were greeted and seated by the owner. Wife ordered Quesadilla Fajita and I ordered Traditional Tacos. Both meals were excellent, just enough spicy flavoring. Very affordable. Stopped by here on a super long drive through the states, in which we decided on this restaurant for our dinner. While visiting new places for food is always a scary experience, this place absolutely blew any negative expectations out of the water with its amazing selection, prep time and service behind our food. The restaurant itself isn't crazy looks-wise (for better or for worse) but there were plenty of seating options so you really cannot complain. Best place in the area to eat Mexican food. We've tried several thing off the menu., specifically, Enchilada Supremas, Taco Salad, Burrito Supremas, the the Combination Fajitas with but steak and chicken & Steak Fajitas. We weren't disappointed by the quality of the food. It tasted the way I remembered Mexican food from El Paso, TX. There was a large portion that can easily be reheated for mom to have a little break. The menu says "best restaurant in town.". This might be the best restaurant in a three-county area! The young ladies running the place are friendly. The food is delicious and the prices seemed reasonable although the portions were not huge. The music is authentic Mexican music instead of some stupid, overplayed, so-called "classic rock." Dinner wasn't real bad, just not really good either. We live on the West Coast but drove the 1980 miles into town for a wedding. We took our family out along with their kids, they're local. My girlfriend and I both ordered fajitas and neither of us were very impressed. Seemed a bit dry to both of us. The extra guacamole I ordered for my meal was really good so I'd recommend that and a jumbo lime margarita for $7.50.....unheard of price where I'm from, super cheap here. Basic Mexican food, tidy and colorful interior, with pleasant and efficient staff. Not fancy, but worth the trip.

I had the Fish tacos and, well, the were fishy. My Wife's food was soggy as in taco's and tostadas stuck to the plate. Hers was so bad she really couldn't eat it. so she just mainly ate chips and salsa. The salsa was actually good both the green and the red. The margaritas were just OK. The place had quite a few people in it but then again, there's not a heck of a lot else to choose from in Monroe City. That being said...there are better choices in Monroe City. read more

Pretty decent food. Not homemade - and if it was, it was a super simple recipe. I like more traditional versus the Americanized type. Tacos were good, tamales are not worth ordering. The enchiladas were lacking. Beans and rice were good. Overall a fair amount for what you pay for. I would stop here again and give it another try. read more

One of the few sit down restaurants left in Monroe. Respectable food with tamales on the sweet side and tasty fajitas (note: with such ample portions, 3 tortillas are hardly adequate). Stopped here between NYC and LA traveling. The food was good, cooked well and seemed fresh. We ordered the chicken and shrimp fajitas and it was enormous. Small complaint, the guac was wasn't amazing. Depends what level of Mexican you're used to but in terms of authenticity it was a 7, Taco Bell being a zero. Safe bet on this long road trip, and you're kind of in the middle of nowhere here, the salsa was good too! read more
