Terrible service terrible food would not recommend waiter sucked and was not very good at his job

First time in Quincy, IL.....Found this restaurant on Yelp, customer service was awesome! Our server "Pruebas" was excellent! The food was delicious (cheese enchiladas and chalupas) and we ordered a margarita on the rocks and also ordered virgin pina colada, both drinks were amazing. Even the owner came by our table to make sure everything is in order, she really takes pride in the ownership of the restaurant (16 years) and does excellent work. We will be visiting again soon! read more

Spacious, clean. Casual Mexican atmosphere. Mexican music, not too loud. Lots of booths. Good food, especially the fajitas. Great service.

Very good Mexican food, service was a little lacking. They get 4 stars for the food! Tortilla chips were served hot, they needed a little salt (server forgot to bring it when asked) salsa was also tasty, good mild flavor. I had the chili Colorado with steak, the meat was good with no fat or tough pieces. Flavorful sauce I'd say is homemade, rice and beans were also good served with hearty flour tortillas. My associate had a beef burrito- chicken enchilada combo. He agreed the food was very good. Glad to patronize a family establishment, I'd hope the server gets better with more experience. read more

Good food! Fair service. They weren't that busy but I will wait or wasn't too attentive. He would stop by occasionally but only when we got his attention to come over. Pretty casual atmosphere nothing too special. Kind of plane actually. But again the food was very good! read more

My absolute favorite restaurant in Quincy! Their food is definitely authentic and I personally have never been disappointed! Their salsa is fresh and home-made, their chips are always warm and the food is amazing! My favorite thing about Maya is their unique menu. I've found that most Mexican restaurants generally have the same old stuff at every place - and Maya definitely has that stuff too. The thing that I love is how they have so many different and unique dishes that I've NEVER seen on any other Mexican Restaurant's menu. Pollo Adobado is my favorite!! read more

Maya is my go to place when I eat out. The service is always excellent and the food is awesome. I have never had a bad experience there.

This is NOT AUTHENTIC Mexican food and they should be ashamed to serve food at this place. The taco specials for $1 were a joke! No cilantro and onion, only shredded American cheese and a pile of lettuce in a hard shell. They put the meat on the bottom so the taco gets soggy and breaks making everything fall out. The salsa and chips were decent. The restaurant was setup nice. The weird thing was that they were playing Mexican music in the kitchen for the staff but you couldn't hear it in the restaurant. The staff seem to be busier talking and arguing with each other to attend to customers. Literally our server talking to us calm as a cucumber turns to one of his coworkers and yells in Spanish, and then turns back to us like nothing happened. This happened several times with different employees. If you want REAL Mexican food in Quincy stick to the taco trucks!! read more

Ate here tonight while staying at the Fairfield across the street. If you are in Quincy, give this place a try. Really good food and service. Wife had the burrito maya (ground beef) and I had the special burrito (shredded pork). Both came with rice and beans. If we lived here would frequent this establishment often. read more

The name says it all. Maya Authentic Mexican cuisine. Emphasize the AUTHENTIC part! Great handmade salsa. Great waiters and a friendly staff who are there to make sure you get fed well. I was impressed that they offered a dozen Mexican bottled beers. served very cold and refreshing. I tried the vegetarian quesadilla and was impressed with how many mushrooms were stuffed in there. If this is authentic mexican, taco bell is 100% real mexican also. Reviews look real good but were deceiving if reviews did not have to compare with real mexican food. Mushroom were out of can, fajita did not steam at all, tortilla was rubber warmed up in microwave, the cheese enchilada was done in microwave I guess for around here may be good if you don't know what real mexican means. read more

YIKES! This place charged our credit card an additional 18% in addition to our bill. If we wanted to leave a tip on our card, we would have signed for it and added it on. Tipping in cash plus on our card is over 7.00...This is illegal, and our Attorney General Lisa Madigan should check this place and it's illegal practices. The food was mediocre, the chips over baked, the salsa runny. Parking is limited. We will NEVER go there again, and we will not recommend this to anyone. OUR ADVICE IS TO RUN FOR THE BORDER1 HI CARUMBA !! read more

OMG the portions are huge! I ordered the combo single serving chicken and shrimp fajitas and I don't think I will ever go hungry again. I was only able to eat 1/4th of the delicious fajitas and I am looking forward to having the left overs for breakfast in my hotel room across the street. So now that you know the portion size is spectacular you should also know that the food is quite delicious as well. As a native southern Californian, I have experience eating much Mexican food and I was highly impressed by the quality and flavor of the food at Maya's. The atmosphere inside is great too and all the servers were very friendly. Quincy is lucky to have such a great establishment! It is truly an authentic Mexican restaurant. read more

There is one meal here that I love, the ham flautas, and my wife is a big fan of the fajitas, absolutely everything else is just average. Never had a bad meal here, but never a really good one either, other than said flautas. The service can be really hit or miss as well. We once had our waitress actually clock out and leave for the day mid way through our meal without telling us OR any of her co-workers that we still were there eating, leaving us to sit and wait, and wait, and wait. Eventually we flagged down another server who simply told us our server was gone for the day and they didn't know we hadn't paid. Something like that should never happen. Went to Maya during the day and they were not busy at all. From the outside the place does not look like much. On the inside it looks bigger and is very well decorated. It was also very clean and the staff was courteous. The service the entire time was very nice also, the waiter called me "sir" even though I have a feeling he is older than I am? The chips and salsa came out quickly. The chips were warm and very nice. The salsa was incredibly FRESH and very good. My dinner plate was of reasonable portion and price for Quincy was right. The food was very good. Again, everything tasted incredibly fresh and home made. My experience at Maya was very good. I will be eating there again. read more

Great Mexican cuisine, and very reasonable. Love this place! Great atmosphere, a family-run Mexican restaurant with friendly, fast service. They're excellent at accommodating requests, such as shredded beef instead of ground beef, or a different sauce, etc. If you aren't happy after eating here, you're just too hard to please! (Speaking of which, a couple of real self-impressed sophisticates put down the place while insulting Quincy and it's people in general. I'm a native Californian, and know good Mexican food.
