This is literally my favorite restaurant. The vibe is fun and the music matches the theme. The staff is pretty nice. They always make sure we get what we want. I make sure to always tip them. And the food is VERY good. It's cooked well and has never disappointed me. I go there so much, I think some of the staff recognize me at this point. If you like Mexican food and are in the area, PLEASE give this place a try. read more

Would just like to say Thank You to whom ever paid for our meal tonight at Mi Jalapeno. It was such a holiday blessing. I was excited to try this place for a while. First off the building is awesome and the tables and decor are so cool. There is always something cool to look at. The service was fast and the staff was so friendly and attentive. We had some chips with salsa. Which was good. I liked that they give out little bowls for individual people so you can double dip and not have to worry. So they have margarita towers for $29.99 and you can have a pitcher for $16.99. I was tempted for the tower but we didn't need that. I wanted half strawberry and half mango frozen. It was pretty good. They give you a sugar rimmed glass with it. For the main course I ordered a chicken chimichanga. They overloaded the plate with rice and beans, guac and way too much sour cream. I loved the rice and beans that was my favorite. The pico de gayo was good. My guacamole was a little on the darker side. As for the chimichanga, I was not a fan. The chicken was too chewy for me and very bland. I was not a fan of that. Next time I'd like to try something different. Overall we had a great time. read more

The food here was amazing! The chips and Dallas were fresh. I got the fajitas and my wife got a burrito. The service was quick. We would eat here again. The menu had a lot of choices. I didn't see my go to pozole on the menu though. read more

Mi Jalapeno - Lunch Chicken Quesadilla #5 - Mexican Near Me - Quincy, Illinois

Food was amazing !! Edwin is an awesome server . He's polite and fast , I definitely recommend this place .

Best Mexican food in Quincy! Great staff, great atmosphere ... even better food! Their outdoor patio is our favorite! Highly recommend!

The service here was very good. We were seated promptly and well attended by a gracious server. I should preface this by saying I'm not from this area so your mileage may vary. The chicken enchilada suiza was very flavorful. Unfortunately I did not care for anything else. Tamale casserole is not close to a tamale. The beef in my taco was greasy and I don't think a chili came within a mile of my plate, it was super bland. Again, the service was great and people seemed to enjoy it. My husband didn't care for any of his choices either. Not for us. read more

When you want to sit outside in Quincy Mi Jalapeño is one of the places you should go. While the view isn't the best (Starbucks and McDonalds) it has a nice sized patio. I went there for a book club meeting. They have multiple tables set up for large groups so our group of 8 had no issue finding space. The waiter was attentive, had no issue with separate checks for everyone. My quesadilla was delightful and I had a strawberry and then a regular margarita; both were great (and on special as it was Wednesday). I haven't been to the restaurant in some time and this reminded me I should return again soon. read more

I think a lot of Mexican restaurants, are pretty similar. That being said, this is my family's favorite place in Quincy. Both fajitas and margaritas are tasty. They have a very good hot salsa, but you have to ask for it. Mix it with the regular, somewhat bland salsa, for a great result! read more

Mi Jalapeno, great atmosphere, decent food, wonderful service, and a fair price. I would have normally rated this as a four star + but seeing as the service made up for the food, you are well deserving of a solid five stars. Just a bit of advice to those of you yelpers out there, try the flavored margarita tower, you won't be disappointed!! read more

The free chips and salsa--good enough to be a meal! If I hadn't already ordered a chimichanga I would have stopped with my drink order. (JK) But then I would have missed a flavorful chicken chimichanga, the best retried beans I've had, and wonderful rice. Highly recommended. read more

Food & drink poor. In the past my favorite Mexican Restaurant. Not this time food, drink & service very poor

The best tacos in town!!! The service, atmosphere and food here make this one of the best places to eat in quincy. It has been a regular part of our dining experience for a few years and my husband loved their assortment of options for vegetarians while he battled cancer. The 1st time I dined out after he passed was here, and my server actually came and sat with me while I ate....so I wasn't alone. Above and beyond....great place...great people and great food. Love you guys!! read more

Excellent food great service would definitely recommend. We were just in town one night and decided to stop here, very good

Atmosphere definitely had that Mexican feel to it. Definitely good Mexican food. Had the fajita burrito with the steak. So good. Rice was perfect. A lot of places mess up rice and this place has it down. Margaritas were delicious. Staff was very pleasant. read more

Friendly and fast service. Tasty vegetable fajitas. Non greasy chips. The peach margarita is super sweet. Good for groups.

Great place! Love the atmosphere and the service is top-notch. I had the pollo zarape for the first time. It was great, but I will recommend ordering an extra side of cheese. Great experience all around! Looking forward to many more! read more

Super cute restaurant, typical Mexican "cliche" type of decor! Great menu for most, but vegetarians beware!!! The menu has a vegetarian section and lists rice as an accompanying dish, but upon further questioning, I learned that the rice is made with chicken stock-not vegetarian! I was told that the beans are not made with lard, as is common practice in Mexican restaurants! Overall, a nice option for a picky eater like me!! Yummy salsa, and a great tasting bean burrito!! read more

Mi Jalapeno - Super cute place! - Mexican Near Me - Quincy, Illinois

1 out of 3 meals were tasty. Shredded chicken was tough and dry. Chips and salsa were gross.

Awesome selection, unique for the area. Very professional and attentive service. It's my family's favorite Mexican restaurant in Quincy. The seafood selections are very tasty. read more

Ok, its not the authentic kind like you can get in San Fran, Chicago or Ann Arbor. Its the more common Americanized version that is popular north of the border. But alot of people like that, we all do. Just maybe not as good as the real thing. On that note, this is Quincy, not Chicago. There is nothing to write home about when it comes to restaurants here. This, however is the best of its kind in the area-anywhere. Very good if you like the American version. The best part: If you want the onions and cilantro, you can still get them. Top of with a squirt of lime. Delicious. read more

I've never had a bad experience here. This has always been my go-to Mexican place in Quincy. I always leave full & happy.

Well pretty much terrible food. The waitress didn't even question why I wasn't eating my food. I'm pretty sure it was all heated up in a microwave. read more

I ordered a vegetarian burrito with no cheese and I got it was swimming on it. They fixed that. Most Mexican restaurants offered flour or corn tortillas, they had none . Flavors are good, and the food came really quick! I will come back next time read more

No Beans about it,This is hands down the best Mexican restaurant in this area. I take my best friend here every time she comes to visit from the Quad Cities & we LOVE it!!!! Keep up the good service read more

First of all this is an excellent restaurant. I ate a late lunch there yesterday. One person states this is not Mexican food as they know Tex Mex from the Texas and southwest area. Guess what-----you're in Illinois this is what we have here. The salsa and chip were good tasting and fresh. My combo was a lot of food for $8 and the restaurant was extra clean. This = 5 stars from me. If you want "real Mexican food" go to Mexico folks! read more

When I first went to this restaurant, it was excellent, food, service. As time went on, the wait staff was bland, no greeting, had to remind if wanted more water. Also, the vintage lady at the register, did not even look at me, much less smile or say thank U, nothing. I do not go here anymore. I love Maya..always great every time. read more

Went New Years eve, service was fast, food was great and so much of it, I had to take over half of mine home.

Yuck! Worst Mexican restaurant in Quincy. Salsa is awful! Service terrible. Would not recommend going here...ever!

Coming from Texas and California I can say that it's not "real" Mexican nor "Tex-Mex" but it was good, clean and homemade food. The service wasn't overly attentive but it was Friday night and they were packed and likely the servers were in the weeds. But we never ran out of chips, salsa or water, came close once, but a server came by just in time. There were three of us dining. Two of us chose the chicken tacos and the third entree was chicken enchiladas with verde sauce. Amazing portions sizes...couldn't believe all the food for under $10 per entree. In TX or CA it would have been $15-18 per entree. If you are in Quincy, IL give them a try. Worth it. read more

Great fast Mexican food. Mi Jalapeno has a great patio for outdoor dining. Mexican food should be eaten and enjoyed outside with some fine margaritas or a good mexican beer. This place has XX Amber on tap and you can get a 32 oz mug for around $3.25. That's enough for me to show up right there. read more

Being from Texas, I stress the importance of good quality Mexican food. Since living up here near Quincy, I find that Mi Jalapeno is the best, most qualified restaurant for original Mexican food. I will not go anywhere else for my Mexican food. They are first rate. read more

I was in Quincy for business and felt like Mexican. In driving by a couple times I noticed a decent crowd so I figured it was worth a shot. The food was very good, large portions and good prices. My server was very attentive, just the right amount of service. I'd really say it was a 3.5 star visit and I'm pretty tough on Mexican places being from Florida where we have a ridiculous number of choices for great Mexican and having eaten at many great places throughout Texas, the southwest and Mexico. This was what I'd call traditional America-Mex. not real Mexican and not Tex-Mex but the type of Mexican food American's are used to. It was a very good representation of that style. read more

I give it 2 stars for the atmosphere only. The food has been average or below average every time I have been there. The last time I was there will be the last. Food was all just crap. Rice was old and the beans were watery and everything was just bad. That will be the last time. Food negative stars read more

If you love mexican food then you'll love this place. the food is great and the service is so friendly.

NO STARS!!!! Thursday evening, not very busy. Sat outside, beautiful weather. Service was horrible, Food was horrible. My soda was pure carbonation and when I asked for a new one I was charged for the 2nd drink (not negotiable). Pure awful. Never again. read more

Great Mexican food, quick, and very inexpensive. I've been a regular here for years, and simply don't get the guy complaining about subpar service. I've never waited more than 15 seconds to be seated, the chips and salsa are at your table within one minute, and the server is at your table almost immediately. Once the food is ordered, I don't believe it's ever taken more than 10 minutes until it's on your table! It's very easy to be seated, order, eat, and be out the door in 30 minutes if you're in a hurry. Maybe the person who thinks service is too slow would be happier at the drive-thru at Taco Bell! read more

Good meal tonight. Love the white cheese with chips. Food was hot and served quickly!!
