If you're in the mood for some solid comfort food, this is the place to go! If I lived closer, I would definitely visit on the regular. The shop is lowkey with a nice vibe catering to all ages. Folks order at the front, and you can see the cooks frying up chicken from scratch behind the counter. Shout out to whoever was on music duty, because the (mostly) rock tunes playing over the speakers were great! They specialize in fried chicken, and with so many great options it was hard to choose. We opted for the KT's Hot chicken sandwich, the 1848 2.0 shaved steak sandwich, and the Korean loaded fries. The sandwiches are massive and possibly a fork & knife situation. The chicken sandwich was crispy, definitely spicy, and loaded with sauce. By comparison, the steak sandwich paled a bit, as the meat was a bit tough and light on the yummy balsamic sauce. I really enjoyed the fries, which were crispy and very well seasoned. The loaded fries, however, were a show stopper and highly addictive. The ground beef on top was super tender with the most delicious kimchi aioli. The creamy coleslaw was made with a slightly sweet mayo and perfectly complemented the heat. My daughter and I were dropping off my son at college. We were traveling from Houston, Texas. He and his roommate's family decided to eat here and we joined them. The food was amazing! Worth every single dollar!! The service was fast! The menu is written on a chalkboard on the wall and you can decide what you want while waiting in line to order. Once you place your order, they take your name, you find a table and wait for your name to be called to let you know your food is ready. The drinks are separate and have free refills while dining in. You can also get half orders. The sandwiches looked great, I'd love the try the chicken sandwich (Coach Wosman) next time, everything looked great leaving the kitchen. Plenty of indoor seating, my only feedback is to provide pricing on the menu as you walk in and I wish they had a microphone to announce names for indoor dining pickup- it was challenging to hear our name once called. Currently the menu is Wed, Thurs, Sat - Chicken options, poutine, salads, and a feature. Friday - Smashburgers and Lent seafood option. The fries might be the best ever! The food is always on point, hot, fresh. Love all the combos and twist in classics. There is a large shared dinning space, larger tables, and smaller tables. Update: the owner reached out via email to the groom the day of my review on Facebook. Additionally, the owner blocked me from his business page and his personal account. He deleted my comment AND removed the ability to review his restaurant on Facebook. If you are an honest person, you wouldn't be blocking people and deleting posts. Do not trust him at all. He stood us up on our wedding day. He promised to be there to make the wedding reception dinner (over a year prior). Jared even texted the groom that he would be there less than 2 hours before the wedding and never showed!. Do business with someone better please, save yourself the troubles. Cannot explain how excited I was when 8te Open announced they were opening a restaurant! I first had their food when the food truck was at a local Quincy Market a couple years ago. After that, I always looked for their food truck whenever I was at a local market! I live in STL but am in town visiting family and have been wanting to try their Smash Burger Friday and today was my lucky day I ordered the Barney Style Smash Burger (Double Smash Burger, Cheddar Cheese, Pickles, Burger Sauce, Brioche Bun). All burgers come with fries so I was fine with the $13.75 price. I placed my order online and showed up at my designated pickup time. The restaurant was PACKED for lunch when I arrived so I thought for sure I'd have to wait a bit for my food but it was ready aside from adding fresh fries (which I appreciated)! The Burger: At first glance the patties looked like they might be dry, but I was pleasantly surprised when they were nice and juicy. I might have a different idea of what a smash burger is because these patties were thicker than what I typically associate a smash burger with, but thinner than a normal patty. The Burger Sauce was awesome and they didn't skimp on the pickles! The Fries: I am typically not a fan of thicker cut fries but these were beer battered (or similar) so they were nice and crispy with a yummy seasoning! Lots of tables inside! Located on the corner of 6th and Maine, 8te open is the best new addition to downtown Quincy. They started as a food truck, and built up a loyal following. Some would call the food categories simple - chicken, burgers and bbq but the way the owner/chef comes up with the various combinations is masterful. The fries by themselves or topped as the disco fries are fantastic. Menu rotates weekly. The restaurant space is very open with multiple tables that seat up to 8, a few smaller tables and one very long family style table. You can order at 8te open and walk down to the brewery. If they aren't busy they will deliver your food. Street parking only however finding a spot is not normally an issue. read more
