We frequently eat at Kelly's but tonight was the worst service we have had . Once we was seated it took 15 minutes for the server to get our drink orders. Once she took our order she was non existent. We had to ask the busboy and also the hostess for service. This was 8:20 pm Saturday the 26th . Once our food arrived my other half had the lasagna I had the prime rib special. I had ordered my prime rib rare to medium rare . The prime rib came out well done and about 50 degrees. I got the hostess attention she went and found our server . The server brought me another prime rib even worst than the first one but the knife was scolding hot ! We had a great time here last night for our first time being here. Service was great and she was very prompt and helped us decide on meal items. My pork filet was amazing, my kid's chicken fingers were a 3 out of 10 (chewy and heavily breaded without much taste) and my wife's burger was good. Plus, their salad bar is AMAZING. We loved their cookies and cinnamon rolls along with the soups etc. You gotta goto Kellys!! We waited for 45 minutes and got told sorry some other waiter took our food. So I asked to bring what was ready and she brought a buffalo chicken sandwich that had obviously been sitting there for a long time. We had 7 people that ordered so someone took 6 people's food?? And the platter that was brought was ribs and fries and that takes 5 minutes so someone else taking the food was a lie. obviously the waitress forgot to put the order in which makes sense since she had 6 tables and two of those were 6 people each. She was working hard but we never saw a manager or no one else came to help. Plenty of people filling the salad bar and cleaning off the tables. After an hour and ten minutes we just left. The only positive thing was we didn't get charged. And all the other tables behind us got their food in plenty of time. Refills took forever. Ok so here is the deal, going here for the first time on a Friday night may not have been the best idea but...... it was not an exceptionally long wait to be seated. Menus offered a very wide range depending on what you are in the mood for and the time from order to the table was actually very good considering there wasn't an open seat in the place. The salad bar isn't huge, but it's very good. They've got all the main cold options, besides mushrooms which I would've liked, and a couple of hot options. I really liked the chicken pot pie. This is a Quincy Staple. Location is right in the center of town, with designated off street parking as well as a shared lot for overflow. It is always busy, so be prepared to wait. Limited seating and the overall space is tight, you will have a hard time getting large parties seated here. Limited outdoor seating is available, weather permitting. Kid friendly. A large bar top provides additional seating and is often full as well. They offer a casual bar menu. It is one of the few restaurants that offer a salad bar, however it's not a large offering. It has the normal salad staples, as well as 2 soups, desserts (I will say the cinnamon rolls are a must), and a hot entree. People rave about the cheese soup, but it's not for me. Food and service are good and consistent. I tend to order the chicken strip basket, fries, and homemade ranch. I have never had a bad meal or service here. However, there is also nothing that blows me away either, so it's only somewhere we hit a couple times a year. read more

The food here has been great all three times I've eaten here since I moved to town three weeks ago. It's a pub atmosphere and there's usually a lively crowd every night. The Reuben is excellent and perfectly proportioned so you can taste all the elements. The German potato salad tastes like it does in Weisbaden. My husband got the pot roast once and he practically cried; he said it tasted like his Irish grandmother cooked it. The prime rib was excellent. Stuffed mushrooms? Excellent. Onion rings? Excellent. Ribs? Falling right off the bone. Fried mushrooms are too plentiful for a table of two and also need seasoning. Service is attentive but never pushy. They haven't let me down yet! Kelly's is a local favorite. I've been coming here since I was a kid with my grandmother, and when I come back to Quincy to visit, we usually order the nachos at least once. That being said, it's probably not going to satisfy you if you're from a larger city with more culinary options. A lot of the food is fried or greasy, and the salad bar is often considered the best in town, but it's not a marvel by any other standards. It's usually crowded, especially for dinner (even during the week-- there were half a dozen people waiting in line when I went to pick up our food on Monday night). The staff is usually nice, but they're also swamped, so the service can be spotty. If you're picking up a to-go order, then you head to the bar, where most of the seats are full with an older crowd. The nachos are smothered in melted cheese (shredded cheese, not queso), but the ratio of green onions, tomatoes, and meat depends on the cook and the night. Sometimes, the chips taste a little stale. They're definitely nachos that you could easily make at home, but they're convenient and the portion is big enough for three if you're sharing it as a meal. It also comes with a side of chili. As a kid, I loved the dated booths and domed ceiling that's painted with a blue sky and rainbows. I begged my parents to buy me a cinnamon roll. It can be a fun place for families, but if you come in at a busy time, then you have to be prepared to wait even after you get to your table. read more

Really wanted to like this place as all the reviews rave about it but it was severely over hyped in other reviews. Not sure if other reviewers were paid by the restaurant but there are a lot of inaccuracies in other reviews about all aspects of this restaurant. Based on other reviews, I was expecting this massive life-changing salad bar with an abundance of options. Truthfully Ruby Tuesday's salad bar is better with about the same amount of options. Cinnamon Rolls. Dry dry dry. If this is the best others have had, they need to get out more. Stale? Not sure but definitely didn't taste fresh or homemade. Service. Our waitress wasn't very friendly. When we told her that we didn't like one of the entrees and wanted something else instead, we were told we still had to pay for what we didn't like. So buyer beware. Food quality. Honey mustard chicken within two bits could tell it wasn't good. Probably the sauce as the chicken on the chicken parm was better. Customer service doesn't seem to be important here. A manager came out and said "so I hear you didn't like one of your meals" and that was it. No "don't worry I'll take care of that for you". All the manager needed to do was apologize and try to make a customer feel good but he couldn't even do that. The waitress clearly could care less what our experience was like. So they charged us for a meal that one of the three didn't like and took it back to the kitchen. Didn't ask if we wanted a box for it or anything. Could've fed it to a local cat maybe. So after all is said and done, on the bill in ALL CAPS is the one thing any restaurant consultant, restaurant magazine or anyone intelligent in the industry will tell you is an absolute NO NO... DUE TO RISING COSTS WITH OUR CREDIT CARD PROSESSOR, THERE WILL BE A 2% FEE IF YOU ARE PAVING WITH A CARD. WE APOLOGIZE FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE, THERE IS NO FEE IF PAYING WITH CASH. No warning of this on the front door when you walk in nor did the very friendly waitress mention it. Sarcasm? This is a perfect example of a very closed-minded owner. By the way, the "no fee if paying with cash" is a nice touch Clark. There's no doubt in my mind others will come to their rescue and try to move this review down or claim it to be full of lies. Went today based on the reviews. The good: pork chop and catfish were good. The meh: salad bar was underwhelming, service was mediocre. The bad: margarita was undrinkable-tasted like pure sugar syrup, Brussel sprouts were not fully cooked. Overall-next time we go to Quincy we'll probably go somewhere else. Salad bar is great, certainly the best in town. Often has several hot items on the salad bar that make it just getting the salad bar as your meal, a reasonable choice. I saw one of the other reviews mentioned how great the french fries are - that is certainly not my or anyone in my families opinion. We think they are basically about the worst in town! Stopped at Kelly's for lunch today. Never been there before and was just in town for a quick lunch with a friend. We were surprised how crowded it was! Definitely a local favorite. The salad bar was a big hit and included the most delicious looking homemade cinnamon rolls! Our server was friendly and prompt the food was very good and the price was right. Good for all ages. Kelly's is a local favorite and while not one I frequent often is a nice change of pace at times. I usually get the handmade chicken fingers with their homemade ranch (I don't like to go out to eat and "just" order chicken fingers but theirs are really good, but I got the salad bar this time. Salad bar has a few salad options, couple of cold pasta salad type options, 2 soups - 1 always their cheese soup, an entree (a Chinese chicken and veggies this time) and dessert options. The cinnamon rolls are loved by all. I've heard you can ask them to heat up the ones on the salad bar and I plan to do that next time. The restaurant is always packed, at times has a short wait and depending on where you sit can feel like a tight squeeze. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. After our long-awaited meal was served to us, I instantly wished we ate at home instead... There was no effort put into the food that was served to us, the portions were laughable, and we waited over 45 minutes for our food. When we arrived, there were already at least 16 guests waiting to be seated so I assumed the food would be worth the wait. We ordered the prime rib sandwich and the chicken sandwich. I didn't get any photos of the food, but we were not satisfied. Our server was very nice, but we could tell she was very stressed and distracted due to the high volume of diners in the restaurant. Stoped there Jan 16 2024 for a late lunch around 4:00 pm The food was very good but our waiter could have used more training. We weren't even half through with our lunch when he came to ask if we needed a go container. We said probably but I was still eating my chicken strips and french fries then of course he brought the check. We really felt like we were rushed to get out. They weren't very busy at that time. He didn't get 20% only 15% I assume it was probably the end of his shift, and he wanted to collect his tip and go home. Then there was a girl sweeping the carpeted floor with a broom cleaning up a dirty floor, but we were still eating, and she was very close to our table. I don't really mind when they use a small Bissell, but not right next to the table and she wasn't even using the Bissell. She was using a broom and a dustpan. I guess it was the end of her shift as well. Not sure that will rush back to Kelly's anyway soon.
