This place is pretty good, I'm not going to lie at all. The chicken is very good, although, it is messy. And the service was good as well. The waitress we had was nice. Although, she was a little sarcastic. The whole restaurant vibe was sporty and fun. I just wish it wasn't so expensive and I also wish it was slightly better food. It's just so messy. Really good food at a little dive that overlooks the Mississippi River. They have excellent chicken "lips" (strips of white meat chicken with crispy covering and different flavors of sauces) and great appetizers. We got the two lips on a salad. I would probably just order the two lips and get a side salad, but what we ordered was really good. The portobello mushroom fries looked really good, and we did have a small seasoned waffle fry, hot and fresh. One in our group had the coleslaw. It was good, not great. Service was decent, and prices are fair. I gave it four stars because the server didn't really explain things as well as we would have liked. We could have fitted two lips with fry or a salad and a drink for much cheaper. The chicken is excellent however! read more

Lips and fries are a staple, but also love Lips Nachos, BBQ Lip Pizza, and the Lip Spud are mask favorites. Lots of space inside and outside seating right in the Mississippi River front, with a nice sized bar area. Also specialize in martinis, with an extensive menu. Just like lots of other businesses, they struggle to keep good help; so sometimes service can be hit and miss. read more

I was so excited to try this place for months and finally got the opportunity to. I have been dying to try this lip sauce everyone has been raving about. It was not very busy when we were here. Our server was attentive. They have a few TVs and have a great location. The menu is kind of limited on chicken and it's not the kind that people usually gravitate to. They only have about 6 or 7 dips that will not appease to everyone's liking, like my boyfriend who does not like Buffalo nor BBQ. But he was willing to try. I noticed the drink menu only shown martinis. For a bar restaurant they didn't even advertise beer. Or different kinds of cocktails. I feel like martinis are more for a nightclub kind of place. Not for a chicken restaurant. I ordered the farmers gold martini and I was not impressed. It was not good. But I hear their other martinis are good. My boyfriend had the lips which he claimed were okay but the Jackie's d sauce which he said wasn't the best. I tried it, it was okay. I had the lip wrap. It was okay, but they didn't even fold the wrap fully together. It was good and I like that they use spinach wraps. I ordered fries which I did not receive. I feel like they should be giving us some type of side considering we're paying $10+ per plate. We were traveling from Chicago to ozarks. Wanted a place to stop for a bite about half way. Looked on Yelp and saw a good review for this place. Who doesn't like a good "chicken lip"? The lip sauce was delicious! Like a creamy thick Buffalo sauce the mild/medium was very tasty and just hot enough. Our server, Nick, was very nice and accommodating. One person has celiac and is obviously gluten free. All chicken can be prepared grilled Blue cheese dressing was not the best I've ever had, but it was good enough that we ordered extra! Pizzadilla was stuffed full and delicious!! The "lips" are HUGE! 2 are enough for a regular appetite with fries or any side. read more

We sat outside on the porch overlooking the Mississippi River after 3 weeks of 90 heat. It was very pleasant. I ordered the Monterey chicken which was nicely flavored and my husband ordered the fettuccini which he enjoyed. We even got Oreo cheesecake. They seemed a bit understaffed so I was waiting a few mins for a refill on my tea but she did bring one. We've tried the one in Macomb as well and it's comparable. Will return. read more

This was my first time having chicken lips. Chicken lips are pieces of REAL chicken that have batter on them & are fried. I ordered mine with "Lip Sauce", which was similar to a Buffalo sauce. So, I'm going to call them an "adult chicken strip". Haha. Since they're made with real chicken, and not that pink slime crap from a well known fast food place. They were HUGE! The "Half Ass" ice cream was bomb. It is easily in my top #10 for all time favorite desserts. Vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream piled on an Oreo cookie crust. Covered in whipped cream, caramel, chocolate, strawberry sauce, fresh pineapple, strawberries and pecans Well done, Chicks on the River. I look forward to my next visit. Been here a few times now, with small and large groups. Menu is not large but for the most part the kitchen staff gets it right. While I've experienced pretty good service on average I've seen customers complain in my presence with a mixed bag of server response in return. Mostly benign but noteworthy. Overall a solid four-star location, and add a star if you like ice cream and birthday parties, because their ice cream cake is just about the most ridiculously tasty mountain of excess you'll see in Quincy. read more

You took our drinks order... yep you did just that. when the server that was in "rotation" Shelby took our order and hence that's all you did with clear directions she NEVER CAME BACK TO SEE IF OUR OUR ORDER WAS GOOD? Which you rang in.. again when you mean you didn't have a care in the world of what we said. (we would be placing "to go orders" because your establishment came so highly recommended. The meal was underwhelming because the highlight of the restaurant is chicken, so I anticipated it to be prepared better. It was rather dry. Then they charged us for a soda that should've been included in kids meal and for two sauces that were sitting on the takeout shelf. We're not from town and won't be back. Food itself (what we ordered) was typical chicken tenders and fries. We happened upon Chick's on The River while exploring the area last week. The setting is a remodel of an old brick building facing the Mississippi River. We were there in the evening right at sunset. Since our first visit, we asked out server to make recommendations. Haylee was great! She gave us the rundown and recommended the Lip Spud for Norma and I had to try 4 Lips with Lip Sauce. Norma absolutely loved the combo of the Chicken Lip with loaded baked potato. My chicken Lips with Lip Sauce were terrific too. Unique twist and flavors for what could have been "just another chicken dish" the spice blend on both the chicken and the sauce were perfectly combined to perfection! If we are ever in this area again we will ABSOLUTELY have a meal here again! Looks to be lots of locals eating, packed crowd, great service, fast! There is lively vibe here. I know I already said this but our server Haylee was fantastic! Her attitude, smile, laugh, and responsiveness were as good as it gets! I give her 10 stars! read more

The manager is the rudest person I've ever encountered at a restaurant. We came to town for a Quincy University Baseball reunion banquet. When we got there, several QU parents were sitting at the bar. Everyone was so happy to see each other since it's been 2 years, that several stood up from their chairs to hug and greet. I could hear two servers yelling at everyone to sit down and that they added 3 more chairs so we need to sit down. I said, "We hear you. We will Sit in a minute. We are greeting each other" I then walked to the bathroom walked back to the bar and immediately sat down by a parent with whom I was talking. All of a sudden a manager came storming in with her purse still on her shoulder yelling at everyone to listen up because this is her bar and it's a 10 top bar and you better sit down now. Everyone was sitting and had been except for a brief minute to stand and hug as we came in. She said, it was HER bar several times and that she had to go out her purse away so she could get paid. Four of our people left immediately after being scolded (for nothing). They told her to cancel their orders. Food came out later anyway. She started literally yelling at me that I have to pay for the food. I said, "I just got her 10 min ago. I did not order this food and to please stop barking at everyone, leave us alone, and go do her job. She then said I had to leave for being rude. She was the one who was rude. Another waitress came to me and said you've been nothing but a problem and wouldn't sit down. I have no idea where that came from. I literally sat down within a minute of getting there. This manager lost a lot of money yesterday. Our QU family are very good tippers. We won't ever be back. read more

I was very unsure if me and my dad should go because of the bad reviews I read about it. However, all of the reviews were wrong. The service by our waiter Ashley was amazing. She was very on top of things and continually checked on us. She also helped us decide what to order and it was all amazing. Not only was the food incredible but the dessert was also amazing. To make everything better the price was not that bad at all. We came into chicks on the river with a group of 26 without reservations. they got us seated in like 20 minutes at the most which was amazing. they had waters all ready and were very attentive. Emily was the waitress and she was the best! Food came out quick and everyone was happy with their meals! Definitely will return. The view from the front porch was really nice. Fun little atmosphere. We started with a side salad, potato soup, and the Lip Dip!! We found these to be full of flavor and perfect sized.
