There were so many options in the pastry case that I couldn't pick just one, so I tried a cream puff, pistachio danish, and a hot chocolate to go along with them. They brought my order to my table where I had a nice view of the park grounds. To my surprise the hot chocolate was a build your own, I received a cup of hot milk, whipped cream on the side, and different types of chocolate truffles to mix in with the milk depending on my preference. The danish and cream puff were some of the best treats, perfect taste, perfect texture, perfect everything! Cakenhagen is a Tivoli gem and I am dreaming of the day I can go back to savor their treats again. I'd give them more than just five stars if I could!

Spandauer: A pastry typically filled with jam or custard. Frøsnapper: A pastry sprinkled with seeds. Tebirkes: A poppy seed pastry. There are numerous locations for this bakery. I visited the location in main hall of Kobenhaven K or Central Station before catching my train to Kronborg Castle. The space was filled with people who were grabbing a ticket and then wait for ticket number to be called. I was indecisive and thought I saw a pastry with lemon filling. The employee who seemed a bit flustered told me that it was not lemon and she did not have anything with lemon. It turned out to be vanilla custard which was just as good. I also tried the green sprinkled marshmallow ball. She placed my two items in their own bag. I wanted a shopping bag which she snidely says "It cost 5 krone". Unfortunately, my New York response was snide as well, "I don't care". The two pastries were delicious. However, service needs to be as exquisite as the items you sell, unfortunately this location is lacking in that. I was ensure by kind and friendly employees, who also told me that only two of their variations are vegan: churros with sugar, and churros with sugar and cinnamon. I got the churros with sugar and cinnamon, and they tasted like just what I expected and definitely satisfied my sugar cravings. The only downside was that they were warm, but tasted a bit stale --but that could've been because I visited super late at night and I was their last customer that just happened to get the last bits of churros that were about to get thrown out.

The prices hurt my wallet real hard, but the ice cream wasn't too sweet which I love, and it almost tasted like the strawberry Haagen Dazs. I stumbled upon Brødflov and had the chance to try their uber delicious varm kakao (hot chocolate). My GOD. The hot chocolate was topped with the most delicious whipped cream ever. Soooooo creamy with undertones of fresh whipped cream, one taste and you are literally in heaven. Unlike American hot chocolate, the chocolate was not overly sweet and had the perfect depth to it. One of the best hot chocolates I've ever had and this definitely helped warm my hands up. Don't forget to also get the Kransekage (crown cake) for dessert. A triangular, long shaped cake made of compacted marzipan, nougat and dipped in 70% chocolate. Holy marbles. This was definitely a delight to be able to try this on my visit especially since this is typically served only for the New Years! Christmas cookies are one of the best gifts (especially if traveling, they keep very well) and are unique and delicious. Dessertdragen's cakes are, however, extraordinary, and neither can or should be compared with the mass produced products from certain 'baker chains' in Copenhagen. (no one mentioned, no one forgotten) Let's take a 'hindbærsnitte'. (awesome and simple Danish raspberry cake) - where other bakeries use a cheap, generic raspberry jam - Dessertdragen makes it's own jam! Currently I'm living in New York City, and craving for the quality of the cakes from Dessertdragen I had my boyfriend bring some, yay. And speaking of NYC; when I left Denmark I had a special cake made by Dessertdragen - see the attached picture.
