Chocolate genache cheesecake and bubbles, yes, please.
    Amanda T.

Visiting friends in Germany who happen to live near the border of Denmark; so of course they had to show us around Copenhagen. The cheesecake at Bertels is amazing! It is light and packed with flavor. I recommend pairing it with prosecco they sell in small bottles. I ordered the chocolate genache, which was on the rich side compared to the others, but I wanted chocolate and cheesecake and this was a slice of heaven to satisfy my craving. We also sampled the tiramisu and pecan/caramel varieties. They were also delicious. The staff was very kind and the atmosphere is adorable. I would definitely comeback. Chai latte and cortado were also yummy. Thank you for a great experience! :-)

Amazing cheesecake but comes with a high sticker price. Cheesecake is smooth and extremely light with just the right sweetness. Drinks are average with an above average price tag. No menu other than a small board which only a few can see at a time. Hopefully the high prices afford a permanent large menu of the cakes.

Really enjoyed the cake! Made the best meal for the day really!

The cheese cake was simply superb! It deserves a good 5 star, period! The coffee was ok, but already above average for Europe so I'm not complaining! The venue was a big small so you really have to squeeze and fine a spot, but just adds to the closeness. I had the almond cheese cake, kinda get the best of all worlds, where on one hand you get almond chocolate cake, combined with their traditional cheese cake!

I've never seen a place in CPH with more cheesecake variations than Bertels Salon, but the hype will be disappointing for my Americans out there who've been to Cheesecake Factory. Tip: NO CASH. Card only. Warning for tourists. Price: 55dkk per slice. It's a fairly sized cake (can be divided in 3 even parts for sharing), but at 55dkk, you'd expect larger. We each had a couple bites and were suddenly out 220dkk. Cheesecake: we had the black forrest, cookie, strawberry oreo, and cherry gingerbread. The black forrest and strawberry oreo were the perfect amount of sweet; the soft texture melted perfectly with the crumbly crust. The cookie didn't taste like anything distinctive - it was like ordering a classic cheesecake. The cherry was made with artificial sauce, so it was too sweet and it didn't mix well with the gingerbread flavoring. Seating: plenty upstairs, but it's a busy place so easily out of luck if you come during the evening.

'How much is that cheesecake in the window...?' They have over ten different cheesecake flavors in this cafe, and I got myself a slice of the key lime cheesecake. It's made with what tastes like a graham cracker crust, a light cheesecake layer and a sweet tangy creamy layer of key lime sour cream/whipped cream combination. There's outdoor seating where you can grab a blanket and people watch if you wish. Super yummy and I kinda wanna come back for a second slice...

We happen to love cheesecake so when we walked past the entrance to this place we couldn't resist going in. Had a regular coffee and a cookie-cheesecake to share. We definitely loved the cheesecake! Very creamy and fresh. I could do without the whipped cream on top but that is just because I don't like whipped cream :-) The interior is cozy with a cute seat half way the staircase as well. It got pretty crowded while we were in, with some people leaving for lack of seating.

I definitely love cheesecake, so I was excited to try this place when I stumbled upon it. They have a window filled with so many delicious looking cheesecakes (and other cakes too) that it's hard to choose just one. I ended up choosing a classing strawberry cheesecake with a cup of coffee. The strawberry cheesecake is very tasty. Not the best I've had as far as cheesecake's go, but it's definitely good. I'll definitely be back to try some others! It's a cute location as well, and cozy to sit upstairs with a friend and chat with your cake & coffee.

I'm a huge cheesecake fan, and this place did not disappoint. A little pricy but that's to be expected in Copenhagen. The iced coffee was good, and coffee the cheesecake selection was larger than I expected. Both cakes I tried were great, and I would have definitely returned to try more had I been staying in town longer.

Great Cheese Cakes in a fabulous setting, checkout the size of the toilet!!! It is in the longest pedestrian zone in the world....

55dkk for a piece of cake. 28dkk for drip coffee and 10dkk more if u want a refill. It's a little price and totally worth it! Coffee is ok, but the cake is really amazing! So it would be nice to get a cake to take away and go grab a nice cup of coffee from whichever your favorite store is in CPH and sit somewhere beautiful and enjoy! Definitely gonna go back again!

    The piece I got.

If you want to get a cheese cake in Copenhagen, you should try Bertels Salon. Yes, they are pricy but the pieces are huge and they taste well. I have visited them a number of times.

Man, the Danes sure do know their cheesecake. Bertels was recommended to some fellow tourists and I by an expat tour guide as the place to go in Copenhagen for cheesecake. I can't say he was wrong. Having just been to the good ol' Cheesecake Factory chain here in the US several days prior, I feel like I had an excellent basis of comparison. First of all, there's a flavor for EVERYONE. Stone fruit, exotic fruit, chocolate, you name it. My new pals and I each got a different flavor with a cup of coffee and let one another taste a sample of each other's. We unanimously agreed that, yes, this was indeed excellent cheesecake. Creamy, not *too* sweet, and with a good crust. I got the cherry, which was just the tiniest bit sour and not saccharine-sweet. It was delightful. The downstairs space where you order is tiny; you need to go upstairs to get into the real space. (It appears as though when the weather is nice, they have outdoor seating as well. It was a pretty miserable day when we went, so there was none to be seen.) The staff was friendly and patient with us as we hemmed and hawed over our selections too. A must-try in Copenhagen if you like cheesecake!

Oreo and Blueberry Absinthe cheese cakes complete with a few glasses of delicious rose port!

So when National Geographic named the Top 10 places in the world to eat ice cream, Vaffelbageriet…read moreactually ranked #9. I didn't realize I was patronizing the ninth best ice cream parlor in the world when I took a sweet-tooth respite during my leisurely evening stroll in the world-famous Tivoli Gardens last September. In fact, I didn't know the place had a name, but I just saw a herd of toddlers with over-sized cones and followed the drip marks on the pavement. Those led me to a very festive-looking pavilion with a welcoming counter chock full of sweet treats not the least of which was ice cream. Apparently, the name of the place is Danish for ice cream served in large waffle cones, which no surprise, is their house specialty. Their most popular item is the Amerikaner, a decadent-looking mountain of ice cream in a waffle cone, four scoops worth ladled with some syrupy, only-in-Europe topping, dollops of whipped cream, and a chocolate-covered meringue puff rather than the expected maraschino cherry. It doesn't look like anything I've seen in the states, but it's called the Amerikaner because it's the picture of unhealthy excess, I'm guessing. What a reputation we have across the pond. I refuse to live down to my stereotype and went for a good old-fashioned vanilla soft-serve waffle cone covered in chocolate sprinkles, large of course (see photo). Sure, it was still decadent but at 30 DKK (Danish krone) or $5.32, it was a relative bargain. And frankly, it was one of the creamiest cones I've ever had, which of course, means it's still sitting in my thighs all these months later. No matter since it hit the spot, and for Pete's sake, or I guess I should say for Per's sake, it was Tivoli, and you're supposed to have carnival food. So stop judging me. Anyway, I don't know if Vaffelbageriet is truly the ninth best ice cream in the world, but who's complaining? ICE CREAM - 4 stars...creamy excess that may give you a diabetic coma AMBIANCE - 4 stars...cute spot with plenty of seats if you need recovery time from the Star Flyer SERVICE - 4 stars...very friendly servers keep you in a good mood here TOTAL - 4 stars...big globs of ice cream in a warm, freshly baked waffle cone in the middle of Tivoli Gardens...I can dig it

"The name comes from the appearance of the first bakery, which was a square building with alternating cream-colored layers resembling a layer cake." This bakery also serves breakfast items, brod (open face )sandwich and coffees. Here is a sample of pastry offerings in Danish: Wienerbrød: The general term for what English speakers call "Danish pastries". Kanelsnegl: A cinnamon roll. Spandauer: A pastry typically filled with jam or custard. Frøsnapper: A pastry sprinkled with seeds. Tebirkes: A poppy seed pastry. There are numerous locations for this bakery. I visited the location in main hall of Kobenhaven K or Central Station before catching my train to Kronborg Castle. The space was filled with people who were grabbing a ticket and then wait for ticket number to be called. I was indecisive and thought I saw a pastry with lemon filling. The employee who seemed a bit flustered told me that it was not lemon and she did not have anything with lemon. It turned out to be vanilla custard which was just as good. I also tried the green sprinkled marshmallow ball. She placed my two items in their own bag. I wanted a shopping bag which she snidely says "It cost 5 krone". Unfortunately, my New York response was snide as well, "I don't care". The two pastries were delicious. However, service needs to be as exquisite as the items you sell, unfortunately this location is lacking in that. There is another, smaller located downstairs from concourse whose employees are sweeter. Nok sagt or enough said.

Most of the baked goods were sold, so asked the attendant what popular item I should get. Probably wasn't a great question since most of the items were gone, but suggested a Danish with almond filling covered in chocolate ( Gammeldags Julebolle) for $4.89 (converted). Brought it back to my hotel to consume. I thought it was OK, very dense and definitely one would fill you up (couldn't finish it). Much prefer an almond croissant.

It's set up with a clean design that's very photogenic/Instgramable. They have a variation of chocolates made from cacao beans from Ecuador to Indonesia and a café that serves all kinds of mostly chocolate-y drinks and desserts. And for all the jokes about me being obsessed with chocolate, everyone was pretty involved in browsing through this store. I got the "Ice Cream of the Gods", which is a very soft serve in a cone and the option for either a chocolate or a salted caramel drizzle. And it's so GOOD. Even my dad, who was skeptical about spending money on something so simple, said it was worth it after having a taste. Translated from Chinese, the consensus was that it you could really taste the milk, which made it sweetly rich rather than richly sweet. We also happened to be there between the times they were switching out samples, so we got to try the Billionaire Shortbread Chocolate Selector (caramel, cookies, and hazelnut) and a dark chocolate bit that I didn't get the name of. In hindsight, I deeply regret that I didn't get the Billionaire Sundae, a dessert based on their Billionaire Shortbread Chocolate Selector truffle. Overall, super nice and really wish we could have hung around longer, even sit down and try out more menu items. If nothing else, drop in for a free sample, but just from what I tasted, I'd say it's worth it to make this a short stop.
