    Oreo cheese cake and cappucino
    Ana C.

Bertels was featured in Visit Copenhagen's website as having excellent cheesecake. Therefore cheesecake and coffee it was! I had the Oreo cheesecake and a cappucino. The cheesecake was tasty and very fluffy in texture. It is softer than most cheesecakes I've had and had a sweet taste throughout. The crust was made of crushed oreos and being a huge oreo fan, it was super yummy. Unfortunately, this cake was ruined by chunks of caramel that were scattered throughout the cake slice. It made the cake super sweet and almost inedible. I ended up picking out all the chunks but some of the caramel had melted and couldn't be taken out. Maybe I'll be back on another day and try another flavor. Just a note that this place is pretty small and doesn't have a ton of seating. If you're with a friend, have them grab a seat first. Ordering does take a bit of patience as they only had 1 person at the counter.

    Irish coffee

This place is great. I've been to both of their locations, this one twice. It has always been a delicious experience. The last time I went I got the Irish coffee flavor, and it was delicious! Both locations have quite a different feel to them, but I like them both. The Frederiksberg location feels a bit more open, so there aren't as many nooks and crannies to find a cozy place to sit, but it is more modern and nice in it's own right. I'm sure I'll go again!

What to say! It's the cheesecake paradise. There's choice, different flavors and even some gluten free options. The coffee is although nice. The decoration is pretty simple and I like the long tables. It's a little pricey but I forgive them because it was the best cheesecake I've ever had.

This place is amazing, I go all of the time. I have only tried the Oreo, but my friends have tried all different kinds. It is such a cute place just to hang out, study, and eat cheesecake!

Let's just say I ate a LOT of pastries during my stay, and most of them from Meyers because they won my heart (or stomach). It all started with the raspberry bar (which I call Danish pop tart but it's so much better than a pop tart). It didn't have the white icing on it which I had seen at a bunch of other bakeries. But I actually prefer it that way because I usually find icing to be too sweet. I don't know how to describe this Danish pop tart, but I do know I will be dreaming about it for years after I return to Toronto. SO GOOD. So the next time I went back, I got the pastry with the poppy seeds on top, and butter and sugar inside. It was pretty good - very filling! I think I like there to be more flavours to my pastries though. Then, I went back the day after for a rhubarb pop tart and a rumball. I think I prefer the raspberry pop tart over the rhubarb one. And the rumball was yummy, and also very filling. I also got the iced latte (espresso, milk, vanilla syrup and ice) which reminded me of a tim hortons frappuccino but way more expensive =p Tasty though, and perfect for a hot day. In all my visits to Meyers, the quality of food/drink has been consistently good. I can safely say it was my go-to bakery during my short stay in Copenhagen!

I originally went for the frøsnapper, a danish poppy seed pastry, but every time I went they were out, so I finally opted for a cinnamon roll. The vegan foods in Hawaii are nothing special, so I was a little hesitant on buying something vegan, but at 15kr a piece, I figured why not. I am so glad I got it, because it's the best cinnamon roll I've ever had. The pastry was very chewy but flaky on the outside, and there was just the right amount of cinnamon. It was also very buttery (but of course it wasn't actual butter). The prices are much cheaper than the other bakeries that I went to, and I like these cinnamon rolls a lot more than the overly hyped Sankt Peders Bageri ones.

The owner is friendly, not too talkative but at least he still has that Danish smile :)

I must say the markets in Europe are world class when compared to the markets in the United States. Torvehallerne was bustling with customers ordering glasses of wine and plenty of pintxos. Pintxos means small snacks or tapas that come in a variety of delicious bites. There are always Patata bravas, diced potatoes served with a spicy red sauce and mayo, croquettes, shrimp with garlic, black olives mashed and served on toast. Now, you might ask why am I ordering tapas in Denmark? Good question! Well, I really wanted to try a Vegan hot dog, hot dogs are a Danish specialty. There were no vendors serving them here. Thus, I stuck to something that is second nature to me, tapas! This bar is cute and cozy, the menu has just the right amount of options and the beer is great! The service is simply amazing; two gentlemen running the show: the cook is from Milan and there is a server. Heres what I ordered: 1. Potata Bravas: hot, spicy with a side of mayo and red sauce. 2. Croquettes: served with a side of mayo 3. Shrimps in garlic: loads of garlic and red pepper, flavorful served with bread to dip 4. San Miguel beer ( small): San Miguel Beer refers to San Miguel Pale Pilsen, a Filipino pale lager and flagship beer of the San Miguel Brewery, loved the taste, ordered two. The atmosphere is lively and both cook and server worked hard to ensure meals were prepared well. When In Copenhagen be sure to check this market; you will not be disappointed!
