The cardamom croissant is nearly life changing! I've been trying to chase this laminated pastry high ever since I've been back from Copenhagen to no avail. This amazing taste of heaven is a mix of monkey bread, croissant, and kouign-amann with just the right amount of cardamom (the real stuff, not the overpowering powder you get at cheaper coffee shops). The staff is extremely patient, friendly, and probably thought we were a bunch of gluttons as our group of 4 kept ordering items, eating then outside, and coming back in to order more in order to try as many things as possible. There are a handful of wonderful bakeries in Copenhagen and any Hart location is a must!
Hart Bageri is well known amongst locals and tourists for their delicious pastries. I got the Cardamom Croissant which was divine - on the sweeter side with the stickiness of the glaze and soft crispy layers of the croissant.
Delicious pastries. Cardamom bun (not pictured because we devoured it) was flaky, lightly sweet, and aromatic. Slightly different than what I've seen other places in Copenhagen do (more like a twist). The Spandauer was a vanilla custard with pastry crust. This place really does pastry well - light, buttery, flaky. 10/10, better than a lot of pastries I had in Paris.
The pastries here are delicious. I ordered the spandauer- it's a croissant dough with a rich pastry cream like a Portuguese custard tart. My bf got the pain au Chocolat. Unfortunately we ate them too fast before grabbing photos. Service was friendly and fairly quick. There's a couple of spots to sit out front to enjoy your purchase, but it is limited. Love the easy going neighborhood and being able to munch on my pastry and coffee in the morning, while on vacation.
One of my favorite places to get pastries and a warm beverage when in CPH. The cardamom pastry over here is the one that stands out for me, the texture and the glaze is as good as it gets for me. Service is prompt and very friendly. Highly recommended if you are looking for pastries while in CPH.
Hart was a recommendation from Risteriet. Rist was out of croissants so the dude told us to try Hart, which is in the meat-packing district. I wish we had more time because it looked like this area was full of great places to try. Unfortunately, we stopped at Hart on our way home. I'm so glad we did but my husband had second thoughts after we walked out with 5 bags of to-go pastries. He eventually had to cut me off because I wanted to try EVERYTHING! It was all fresh and they kept bringing out more items as we left and it was 11:00 in the morning. By 11, everywhere else was always sold out of pastries. Hart just kept pumping them out. I also follow their Insta and drool over the deliciousness! I shoveled down the lemon meringue, a couple of croissants, and their potato pastry thing. I failed to capture the name but it was all fantastic and I wish we had something like this everywhere. Parking is plenty within the area, but it's all paid. Copenhagen definitely makes money on parking so take public transit when you can. There are a couple of tables inside, a few tables/benches outside as well. Order at the counter and take-away is an option. The ladies at the counter were laughing with me at my husband because I kept adding and adding. They were so nice about adding to our bill and even making another transaction when I saw something I had to have as we were leaving. Super nice folks and talented bakers.
Hart is yet another bakery started by ex-Noma baker. I tried one of their more famous pastry, a cardamom croissant (42DKK) and flat white (45DKK). As the name implies, unlike traditional cardamom sweet bun, this one used croissant dough, with the texture almost similar to kouign amann. Pretty unique experience and I appreciate the fragrant cardamom. If there's criticism from my end, it's that I felt that the croissant was slightly too burnt. It's also nice that compared to other famous bakery, Hart has almost 10 branches in Copenhagen, which helps distribute the crowd. Flat white was also quite good with strong floral notes. Another item which I really enjoyed from their bakery is actually their sourdough, which made a wonderful based for my breakfast sandwiches at home.
The cardamom bun was fantastic. Service was quick and the store had ample indoor and outdoor seating options. It's a cute shop near the water.
Really good pastries Got the following: Poppy seed and caramelized marzipan croissant: 5 stars Chocolate bun: 1 star, dry and flavorless Basque cheesecake: 5 stars, one of the better cheesecakes I have ever had. Super smooth and rich Would go back for the 5 stars options!
OH MY ENTIRE GOD - we had the Cardamom Croissant here because we heard about it and lemmmeee tell you, it did not disappoint. This may be the best pastry I've ever had in my LIFE. It's somehow flaky AND juicy like how is a pastry juicy?! I don't know but they've figured it out because it's that incredibly moist. The cardamom flavor is on point and not too overpowering. I ate this 3 weeks and I'm still thinking about it.
I came specifically for the sesame cookie and managed to get the last one when I visited around 4pm on a Sunday. It looked amazing but tasted very average. Suprisingly, the flavor profile was more salty than sweet which threw me off because I was expecting a sugary cookie. However, the cookie was nice and chewy with a decently crispy edge so it was still very well executed overall. I'm willing to come back to try more items in the bakery!
Oh how I love thee. The cardamon croissants are memorable. My taste buds exploded in the spicy buttery goodness. This is an experience, truly. In search of the best bakery we found bliss at Hart.

Came for the cardamom croissant, it was perfection!! Flaky, buttery, flavorful. But to be completely honest everything we tried was top notch. Even the simplest thing like bread (sourdough) with butter and cheese was surprisingly delicious. Crunchy outside, dewy inside and paired perfectly with the creamy butter and cheese. Small place, not much space to seat. Friendly staff, one of the employees suggested we tried to eat the sandwich open like a flatbread and it made such a difference. Would definitely re-visit when Im back in Copenhagen. read more

Hart Bageri is a bakery by ex Noma baker Richard Hart in Fredericksburg. We went for breakfast and we had the chocolate croissant, Spandauer filled with marzipan and Tebirkes topped with poppy seeds and marzipan spread. We were impressed by the flakiness of the laminated layers for all the pastries. Definitely worth a stop read more
Cute! Very small, but very cute place with a good assortment of baked goods, juices, coffees and merch. I got the two most popular items: The spandauer reminded me of a Chinese dan tat - just with a crispy croissant dough instead of the traditional flakey pastry. Had great vanilla bean flavor. Cardamom croissant had nice flavor! A little sticky but what's not to like. I also got an iced latte and the coffee here is really good. I don't super get why they don't fill the cups all the way, but maybe that's just me being used to America. read more

I wanted to get some coffee and pastry to start my first day of exploring and stopped by Hart as it was a place in my research many recommended. I got a pastry and no coffee because they didn't have anywhere to sit just a bench outside. I do wish there was more seating to enjoy your pastry but overall good. Went next door to the 7-11 for a coffee since they have seating areas. read more
Copenhagen is full of good bakeries. So much so that my friend and I went to one or two a day during our week visiting Copenhagen. That's to say we tried many, many pastries at many of the city's top-rated bakeries. Hart was a good experience, but wouldn't make top five. Located on a popular street with many other shops and restaurants, Hart Bageri is a tiny space with a bakery and grab-n-go food and products like jams. They sell all the usual pastries as well as cookies. Since we went in the afternoon, I ordered a warm chocolate chip cookie that looked more like a brownie due to its thickness. It was a good cookie, but didn't stick out from other warm chocolate chip cookies. For our favorite bakery, head to Juno The Bakery in Østerbro. read more

Cardamom croissant was a real winner. So buttery and not overwhelming with the spice. Their hot chocolate is legit. Definitely recommend ordering on the go so you can savor as you walk along the canal. We also tried their sausage roll and the croissant with creme. With the owner having an attachment to Tartine, how can you go wrong? read more

Wow! 5 stars for their cardamom croissant! It's a must have! Came here with a few local friends and they highly recommended the cardamom croissant so I got one to try and had to go back for more the next day lol! It reminded me a lot of the kouign amann from B Patisserie in San Francisco, but more buttery and flaky. Honestly, I don't know how anything could get more buttery and flaky than the kouign amann, but here you go! The Danes have done it. The cardamom flavor was mind blowing and out of the world. Came to Hart Bageri because I know that it the founders are Richard Hart, former head baker at Tartine, and Rene Redzepi, owner of Noma. Granted, it's hard to find a bad bakery in Copenhagen, but Hart Bageri was a great first place to visit. We got the morning bun with dark chocolate and butter, and an egg tart-like croissant. Would purchase both again the next time I'm in Denmark. read more

Part of the Copenhagen dining scene since 2018 Hart Bageri has been a resounding success, so much that former Tartine Baker Richard Hart and his partners at noma decided to open a second storefront in Holmen late-2021. Located in Frederiksberg, Rene Redzepi's decision to back the acclaimed Brit living in San Francisco undoubtedly launching a revolution in Copenhagen's traditional landscape of baked goods, lines at Hart begin prior to opening daily as guests hope to secure loaves of Sourdough or still-warm Viennoiseries. Built from the ground up, per Hart a Danish Bakery exploring tradition with a modern eye, early arrivers will find all but the famous Double Baked Almond Croissants that is happily forgotten within the first bite of a Cardamom version that comes apart like laminated Monkey Bread. Using local Ingredients as often as possible, Pain au Chocolat shattering around a delicate honeycomb, Cookies at Hart perform well whether Chocolate Chip or soft Sesame, and for those seeking a classic the Spandauer is pitch-perfect with lightly-sweetened Custard wetting the bottom yet no textural compromise. read more

LoVED this bakery. I was disappointed they didn't have the twice baked almond croissant but their spandauer and the cardmemum croissant was incredible. It was so worth the drive to Fredericksburg. Their cappuccino wasn't the best in town but if did suffice with the pastries. Would come back to try their other baked goods! read more
You know it's a great bakery when there are 5+ people waiting in line for the store to open. I had the cardamom muffin and chocolate croissant and both were fantastic!! I wasn't sure what to get but the person at the register was very patient with me and was excited that I asked him for recommendations. Do yourself a favor and check this place out! read more
The Hello Captain boat tour captain suggested this after our tour, so we gave it a try and really enjoyed it! I loved the views of the river and people-watching bikers as they passed by. We tried the black sesame chocolate cookie & the cardamom croissant, which reminded me of a kouign amann. I really enjoyed both and the overall experience there. It's a really cute, vibrant place. read more
