We stopped by to grab a quick pastry for brunch! They had a wide selection and were very nice in helping us choose! I got the Kanelstung pastry- similar to a cinnamon roll. It was very tasty and only around $5 USD. Definitely recommend!

I visited Copenhagen six years ago and remember visiting this bakery multiple times for coffee and danishes in the morning. We stopped in on a recent trip to grab a quick cup of coffee. The girls at the counter were friendly and efficient but our coffee came up in to go paper cups (I could clearly see they had mugs). I asked again and said that I ordered for "here" .. the girl said that their dishwasher was broke (but there were plenty of clean mugs on the espresso machine) apparently hand washing isn't an option in our modern times. The coffee was probably the weakest we had in Copenhagen. A couple at the table next to us found a piece of plastic in their pastry. I wanted it to be what I remembered but it wasn't They offer free WiFi and have lots of seating.

Excellent pastries, sandwiches and coffee. They had a special limited time Toffee nut latte which was perfect on a cold scandinavian morning. We enjoyed it with a classic rye bread sandwich and cinnamon roll - best danish breakfast ever! Their pastries are so warm, delicious and not too sweet yet so full of flavor. Definitely recommend stopping by atleast once. And, I am so glad I literally just found out that they have a store in NYC!

My favorite Danish bakery, located near the city center. I couldn't get enough of their Kanelstang (Danish cinnamon twist), so we went everyday we were there. Their Kanelstang is just a superior version of any cinnamon twist/roll I have had in the US. On a rainy day, their seating area is packed but if you are able to get a seat, you can enjoy their complementary wifi and warm atmosphere. The previous customers left the table with crumbs and it wasn't cleaned before we got there. However, it wasn't a big deal, especially knowing that they were busy. We were able to clean it up using some wet napkins, accessed from the bathrooms without trouble. Overall, their service was quick and hospitable. I would rate: 4.5/5, rounded up to 5!

Loved the green juice, super refreshing. The pastries were great, but the focaccia was only ok.

This is a chain bakery but I love that it's open late (til 8 pm). I needed a pre dinner snack after landing in Copenhagen but all the other bakeries were closed already. I got a cinnamon roll and a carrot bun and both were delicious. The cinnamon buns in Scandinavia are so much better than the ones in the US. Lots of cinnamon, not too much dough and they do it without the icing. The carrot bun wasn't too sweet which I loved. Service was quick and vibe was chill

wide variety of danish pastries, indoor seating, and free wifi // flødeboller (24.95) // this is a chocolate ball coated with nuts on the outside. inside, there is caramel and a cream filling. we thought it would be a light cream, but it is a very sweet, almost marshmallow-like fluff. i liked the outside chocolate part more than the inside for this reason. there are other balls that are just plain chocolate or coconut on the outside. // passionssnitte (34.95) // a light, airy but creamy passionfruit cake with a crispy bottom crust and light pistachios on top. the passionfruit cake is almost mousse like but i enjoyed it, the consistency reminds me of asian cakes.

The pastries are a MUST. As a solo female traveler, this place was a must try. I love checking out different cafes and shops that are clearly local hits. Clearly a local chain but a definite must try. I stopped by before closing for a coffee and asked the barista to fill a large bag with her favorite pastries that she recommended. I bought about 15 pastries total and flew back to the US with them to hand off to my coworkers to try. Big hits seemed to be the circular chocolate one and the ones similar to cinnamon roles with glazing on top. Coffee was great and the pastries traveled well back to the US. I also tried the tuna and the salmon sandwiches over the weekend which were both amazing and not fishy tasting. Great fresh bread and held well.

Oh my gosh this place is yum! We came here for breakfast and fell in love. We got a chai latte, hot chocolate and some pastries. Best pastries i've ever had! We're going back tomorrow to see if they have gluten free pastries (we saw online that they do). If so, you'll never be able to keep us away!

Tried 3 pastries. All were dry and tasteless, but under $10 USD. I wanted to go to Sankt Peders Bageri, but they are closed July 8th-August 3rd.

You can pretty much find this pastry shop everywhere and anywhere when you walk around. For a place where there are so many locations, the pastries are actually pretty good. 7/10 The only reason I would not give it 4 stars is just cause it was cold and not as fresh as it could have been. I'm not really expecting that kind of quality though, coming here.

Lagkagehuset (say that three times fast!) is a famous Danish chain with over 75 locations in Denmark, as well as now the UK and New York. This particular one is located in the Hovedbanen (Copenhagen Central Station). A very nice station that is busy, with more than 80k people a day passing through. Tucked in a corner spot near an entrance, Lagkagehuset is hard to miss. Seeing all of the breads and pastries through the window made me want to stop in. Going in, I had no idea of the store and it's history, I just knew I wanted to try some Danish sweets. I asked the girl at the counter what her favorite thing was and she said said "kanelsnegl" (cinnamon snail roll), so that's what I did. Surprisingly, some of the things here (like the kanelsnegl) were reasonable ($3.50), but some things were quite high (a tart for $16). I must admit the fruit tarts and cakes looked absolutely gorgeous. I now kick myself that we didn't get one to try. The bread also looked pretty good, but I wasn't in the position to buy a loaf and carry it around sightseeing all day, nor able to sit and eat a whole one in one shot. I would have to say overall, the experience was simply average. Nothing overwhelming, nothing disappointing. Nothing eye widening though. Afterwards, I kept noticing these stores around town, and I tried a different location and different food. The service was great here, the counter girls really friendly and informative. The store was clean, presentation nice, and all of the food looked delicious.

So when National Geographic named the Top 10 places in the world to eat ice cream, Vaffelbageriet…read moreactually ranked #9. I didn't realize I was patronizing the ninth best ice cream parlor in the world when I took a sweet-tooth respite during my leisurely evening stroll in the world-famous Tivoli Gardens last September. In fact, I didn't know the place had a name, but I just saw a herd of toddlers with over-sized cones and followed the drip marks on the pavement. Those led me to a very festive-looking pavilion with a welcoming counter chock full of sweet treats not the least of which was ice cream. Apparently, the name of the place is Danish for ice cream served in large waffle cones, which no surprise, is their house specialty. Their most popular item is the Amerikaner, a decadent-looking mountain of ice cream in a waffle cone, four scoops worth ladled with some syrupy, only-in-Europe topping, dollops of whipped cream, and a chocolate-covered meringue puff rather than the expected maraschino cherry. It doesn't look like anything I've seen in the states, but it's called the Amerikaner because it's the picture of unhealthy excess, I'm guessing. What a reputation we have across the pond. I refuse to live down to my stereotype and went for a good old-fashioned vanilla soft-serve waffle cone covered in chocolate sprinkles, large of course (see photo). Sure, it was still decadent but at 30 DKK (Danish krone) or $5.32, it was a relative bargain. And frankly, it was one of the creamiest cones I've ever had, which of course, means it's still sitting in my thighs all these months later. No matter since it hit the spot, and for Pete's sake, or I guess I should say for Per's sake, it was Tivoli, and you're supposed to have carnival food. So stop judging me. Anyway, I don't know if Vaffelbageriet is truly the ninth best ice cream in the world, but who's complaining? ICE CREAM - 4 stars...creamy excess that may give you a diabetic coma AMBIANCE - 4 stars...cute spot with plenty of seats if you need recovery time from the Star Flyer SERVICE - 4 stars...very friendly servers keep you in a good mood here TOTAL - 4 stars...big globs of ice cream in a warm, freshly baked waffle cone in the middle of Tivoli Gardens...I can dig it

I was curious but hesitant since we were already in a rush. The group I was with encouraged me to go treat myself. Best. Impulse stop. EVER. Hotel Chocolat is a British chain of cocoa bar-cafés with locations all over the UK as well as in Denmark (here in Copenhagen), Japan, Hong Kong, and New York. And it does seem like they have different TYPES of locations? But modern, high-end feeling chocolate shop in the front and café in the back. It's set up with a clean design that's very photogenic/Instgramable. They have a variation of chocolates made from cacao beans from Ecuador to Indonesia and a café that serves all kinds of mostly chocolate-y drinks and desserts. And for all the jokes about me being obsessed with chocolate, everyone was pretty involved in browsing through this store. I got the "Ice Cream of the Gods", which is a very soft serve in a cone and the option for either a chocolate or a salted caramel drizzle. And it's so GOOD. Even my dad, who was skeptical about spending money on something so simple, said it was worth it after having a taste. Translated from Chinese, the consensus was that it you could really taste the milk, which made it sweetly rich rather than richly sweet. We also happened to be there between the times they were switching out samples, so we got to try the Billionaire Shortbread Chocolate Selector (caramel, cookies, and hazelnut) and a dark chocolate bit that I didn't get the name of. In hindsight, I deeply regret that I didn't get the Billionaire Sundae, a dessert based on their Billionaire Shortbread Chocolate Selector truffle. Overall, super nice and really wish we could have hung around longer, even sit down and try out more menu items. If nothing else, drop in for a free sample, but just from what I tasted, I'd say it's worth it to make this a short stop. It's definitely on my list for the next time I'm back in Copenhagen or even London. That ice cream just made me really happy...

We bought some small samples and everybody ordered an ice cream. I would normally just take a few bites out of my wife's cone because I get nauseous after about half a cone. It was not super sugary like other ice cream. The lady behind the counter said the only sugar came from the milk itself. I finished the whole cone without feeling like I'd just had a tub of butter/cream. We were only in town for a week, but managed to come back to this place for seconds. The mushroom frittata (I think it was) was absolutely delish- no rubbery egg taste, lovely mushies. I was worried about the carrot salad because it looked like it was tossed in something creamy, but it was quite good. This also included a really rich and thick tomato soup, and a small toast w/ goat cheese and a rhubarb jam, and some sweet treat- I'm guessing made with mascarpone. Hubbies sandwiches were good, though I've never seen mushrooms in a chicken salad before (luckily they were big enough for him to pick out so I got those too). Only reason to dong them a Star was due to the chaotic way and wait to order. There was one queue downstairs and two people intermittently taken orders. But, the people taking the orders also were making fancy coffee drinks and doing other stuff, so it was very staccato. When we were next in line, both people ringing people up went missing for quite a few minutes and then a newcomer went straight over to the 2nd register to ask a question, as if the people in the longer queue weren't waiting, and because the guys behind the counter were so all over the place they couldn't keep track of that. Then it turns out if you want to sit upstairs, you have to order up there, so off we went to wait in another queue. After you order, you take a number to your table and we thought they forgot about us, and asked a bus boy to check in for us and he returned with our food. Oy!
