We think we've just realized that this Ismageriet is now part of the same chain as the one that we went to in Kødbyen, which was beyond-words amazing. This Amager location is definitely smaller with far fewer flavors, and somehow the ice cream is slightly less magical, but who are we kidding--it's still outrageously good. We can't believe we're saying this, but it's way better than the gelato that we had in Italy last year! Our daughter got a cup of stracciatella--no fireworks, but solid. One of us got a cone with half baklava and half ricotta pistachio and DAMN--now there's some fireworks. We loved the bit of pastry flakes in the baklava and the ricotta one had swirls of a kind of pistachio frosting that was heavenly. The other one of us got a cup of half Dubai chocolate and half cherry. WOW. Hats are tipped! The cherry was such a swirly flavor bomb of perfectly-balance sweet and sour. The Dubai, which has now become a standard go-to was equally delicious. Again, we'd recommend going to the Kødbyen location, which is more chaotic but also more interesting--that was more like 5 stars, while this one is 4. Either way, both are Copenhagen creamy wonderlands. P.S./PSA: If you're cold and hungry in Copenhagen and near the Carlsberg Brewery, we strongly encourage you to go to Anh's Spiseri og Takeaway. This place is just what the doctor ordered on a summer day in Copenhagen! I just wish they had more locations around the city. Their gelato is superb, and I loved the less-than-ordinary flavors. My favorites were probably the sea buckthorn (but then again, this berry is something I am ready to consume in any form - tea, meal, or dessert) and the marzipan-pistachio one. Yum^10! read more

My friends and I went to Ismageriet at around 4pm, thinking there wouldn't be a line, because who gets ice cream at 4pm? Luckily it wasn't as busy as other Yelpers have experienced, but we did have about 8 people in front of us. Their system is very efficient, because you get a number at the door, and they serve you once your order number is displayed on the monitor. We got to sample the flavors we wanted before choosing what we wanted. I got a small pistachio ice cream (one scoop) and you have the option of getting it in a cup or a waffle cone, for 25kr (about $6 for a small). The pistachio ice cream was very rich and creamy, and not too sweet. Their portion is also very generous. read more

I was lucky enough to live walking distance to Ismageriet and I'm constantly amazed at how busy they are regardless of weather and time of day. Ismageriet stands out because they use high quality ingredients and offer very unique flavors that rotate frequently. Some of my favorite flavors are the marzipan pistachio, amager ice, licorice caramel, and peanut caramel chocolate. They also offer soft ice (soft serve) with many different toppings like sprinkles, chocolate powder, and guf (marshmallow fluff that is quite popular among Danes). If you're not Danish I recommend looking at the flavors online in advance because the menu is in Danish and it can be quite overwhelming. read more

If you love good ice cream, you have to come here! Period! The frequent lineups at almost all times speak for themselves. The hardest part of your visit will be the decision you have to make on the flavor. You can't have them all. At least not at once. I always use two flavors to judge the quality - pistachio and vanilla. Both are a perfect indicator, what ingredients they use. If any artificial ingredients are used, this two will tell your tongue in an instant. Besides the amazing ice cream, the staff is really friendly, helpful and well organized. Thank god I don't live in Copenhagen. I would ruin myself by spending all my savings in ice cream. My mouth is watering right now. I need to stop with this review or I will drown... Even on a cold and rainy day, Ismageriet had a line of people waiting to get ice cream. The portions are generous, and the staff were very kind and helpful with describing flavors in English to my group. I got 2 scoops: cheesecake and marzipan. The cheesecake flavor had graham cracker crumbles and bits of candied orange which made it very unique and cut the rich creamy flavor. The marzipan was also creamy, and it had a great nutty flavor. Overall, the flavors are rich and tasty without being too icy or sugary -- I would highly recommend this place! read more
