After so so many years I came out of a store smiling even after spending money lol. If you're in the market for a vacuum cleaner there is just no other comparable place. Two main reasons: 1)Max is extremely knowledgeable and honest (won't upsell) and very very very nice -- he took 45 mins to give a demonstration to us after we purchased and was such a nice man. 2) His prices are unbeatable (even for filters etc). And great selection....especially for Miele vacuum cleaners I am going to be a lifelong customer of his -- wishing his business all the best. What a great find! read more

I bought a vacuum here in 2005. Max, the owner, is passionate about vacuums and he was so nice (he loves dogs) that I visit him even when I don't need any bags. By the way, he recommended a Miele for me, though he carries other brands including the coveted Dyson, and he has all the patience in the world for service, cleaning, filtering, and deodorizing, etc...sometimes my vacuum air smells like poop, because I actually vacuum up little dried poop nuggets, it turns out there is a spray for that. I bought vacuum here about 2 years ago and am still loving it! The owner, a polite and pleasant man, helped to pick out a proper vacuum for my situation. I explained I had pets who shed a lot and he directed in me in which vacuum would best suit my needs. Not only did he throw in a free floor attachment, he encouraged me to come in if I had any issues or concerns. When I noticed an odour coming from my vacuum, I went back to ask about this problem. He gave me a sample of something I could use, and also a few spare bags. Over the years I have spent more than $1000.00 at this store on a Miele vacuum as well as bags, repairs etc. But today when I walked in with a vacuum I didn't purchase there but wanted repaired, Max, the owner, wanted nothing to do with it. He even scolded me, "I know you," he said, "you buy a Shark instead of a vacuum from your neighbour." Apparently a thousand dollars in business isn't enough to buy this guy's good will or even courtesy. Once you do business with him, you're not allowed to shop anywhere else even if you need the kind of vacuum he doesn't sell. So don't do business with this place unless you're prepared to give him your money for the rest of your life or risk being told off and called a disloyal customer. I guess Max doesn't realize that Canadian Tire is a neighbour of mine as well! read more

1 star is too much for this place. I had to go there twice in a week and both times the man that works there was unbelievable rude. I don't drive and this central vac place is somewhat close to my house, however, never again. I will make the long subway ride up to another store at Shep/Yonge as this gentleman's rudeness and lack of customer service is too much to tolerate. read more

although I have received awful services many times at various stores, I have never bothered to write a negative review. But now I am. I bought a low end ($112) vacuum here, and the initial customer service was wonderful, praise worthy even. He even took the vacuum out of the box and assembled it for me. You can note at this time I said my ENTIRE house was hardwood (expensive hardwood), not once did I say I had an ounce of carpet. The vacuum scratched my bedroom floor to HELL. To HELL. I called and told him what had happened (very calm, no one can say I wasnt) and he said that I had told him my house was all carpet...that the vacuum I bought isnt the best for hardwood. I asked for a refund OR exchange and I was told no. Final sale. At which point I said really? For 100$ you want me to go to my lawyer. He said yes and hung up. I went to check the bag of attachments for a receipt and there wasnt one. I went to the store...and there was about 15 minutes of sheer screaming on my part, and absolute unprofessionalism on his. I demanded a receipt (I payed in cash) and after 10 minutes of avoidance of the issue he made me one and STAMPED FINAL SALE ON IT. That did not go over well. Between threatening to call the Police, and mocking me for making such a big deal over a hundred dollars, he finally threw the money at me screaming he couldnt spend it anyways, that it was mine so it was dirty and he never wants to see my dirty face again. Numerous times , before tempers were escalated, I had said it wasnt his fault it was the manufacturers. I was trying, through gritted teeth to come to an arrangment that suited both sides. I got no help. I was told he wouldnt take the vacuum back because he would be out of pocket. I mentioned my floors and how I was out pocket for the repairs (not his fault) to which he just waved his hand in my face and said he didnt care. And considering stores like his mark things up 70-80% , how much was he out really? So, after he threw the money at me, I went home, got the vacuum and returned it to his store. Went into the store today shopping around for a vacuum. The man working there was very rude to me I was in tears before I left. I told him I had a Kirby vacuum and that I was planning to replace the motor but in the mean time I wanted a vacuum. The man who I think is the owner told be that the Kirby is garbage and if I was using that to vaccum I must not know how to clean and I don't know what I am doing. read more

Terrible customer service. It would seem that I asked one too many questions (over the course of 2 or 3 minutes) about an open-box-no-refunds vacuum cleaner, and was told not to bother. "Don't bother me," he actually said. Worse, when I asked what he meant, he said, "Don't push me to tell you what I really want to say." I asked if he was joking. He wasn't. I had cash in hand. He said good night and "don't get upset." People can have off nights, and maybe he was having one, but you've gotta be kidding me. read more

What an incredible experience! I have lived in the Beach for 15 years and I have tried to work with and purchase locally for that time and in all these years, I have never experienced such hostility from a local owner as I have from Vacuum Chek. I brought in my 10 year old Dyson that required a new plastic lever lock for the beater bar. When I showed it to the owner he takes a quick glance and says "$130". I said "Wow...that's a lot...why so much to replace that piece of plastic?" And he responded, "...try sending it to Dyson, they'll charge you $170!. In fact, I don't want to fix it and I don't have that part... so go get it fixed some place else!" Some what stunned I asked the owner why he changed his mind and cant fix it? While walking away from me, he said "I don't have the part and you look like a guy that can't afford it and will cause me problems...so just go some place else." I am still stunned that a local business owner would treat someone as poorly as he has & would be so incredibly disrespectful and hostile. Avoid...Avoid...Avoid. If you need a Miele, go to best buy; go anywhere just don't go here. If I could give less than one star, I would. read more

I don't normally write reviews but, based on my experience with Vacuum Check today, feel compelled to warn others about the treatment they may get there. I went in and spoke to Max, the operator, about a new powerhead for my central vac. He unpacked a product he recommended and showed me the features. Just then a woman came in with her portable vac which she thought should get warranty service as she had bought it recently and it was no longer functioning properly. Within seconds, Max was being very unpleasant to her, apparently because she told him the problem was with the vacuum motor and he didn't agree. Naturally she reacted to this unpleasantness and, within a few more seconds, Max was swearing violently at her and ordering her to leave his shop. After she had left, I told Max I would think some more about my purchase from him. He immediately began shouting the most foul-mouthed expletives at me, especially since this was my second visit (horrors!) to his shop and I was still not ready to buy. He rushed threateningly at me and told me to get out. I have never been treated anything remotely like this in a retail establishment. read more
