This is one of the most relaxing places on earth to shop for tech. Things seem to be moving in slow motion for me as I cross that awkward threshold entering it. No problem. I got this. cliches etc. The guys here know their stuff and are very helpful as well. In case you don't know, Canada Computers on College is spread out over 3 different stores, all within an easy walk and this one is mainly for their Audio/Video items like TVs and bluetooth speakers. They also have phone accessories and laptops. I picked up a sweet Asus Chromebook here after visiting Staples which only had one pathetic Acer. Need a charger or cable to charge your phone? I just had two very good experienced with Canada Computers. I needed a backup laptop for work and they sold me a laptop refurbished (which was fine, I knew that). It arrived with a bad SSD drive. I returned it to where I bought it and that apparently created a little RMA process drama on their end and they said it would take a week or two to resolve and I got really angry. A few days later they said they had another one for me, and I was able to pick it up. Which made me a lot happier and it sounded like the corporate folks in Hamilton heard about this and did what the could to resolve the problem more quickly. So I liked that they responded to a customer problem as professionally and proactively as they did. Then my modem threatened to die this week and CC had like the ONLY in-stock modem in the entire city :) I had to travel to the north end of the city to get it but I bought it online and traveled over an hour to get it and they had it...and the modem is working fine. I'm not upset about the long subway trip as i understand these are difficult times we live in and stores aren't stocking what they used to for sound economic reasons...and they're STILL doing a better job than another large Canadian chain I could name which uses COVID as an excuse to not provide service, use the phones, or respond by email. Canada Computer saved my bacon this week (literally...I now have a functioning modem and I work from home on contract so when I can't work I don't get paid) and I will surely use them again. read more

Absolutely horrible. I needed an HP PC laptop fan replacement, and they said they would take 3-4 weeks just to get the part. Every other small shop in the city said 5 days maximum, and in most cases 1 day. In addition, they said I would have to pay a $50 diagnostic fee, which is ridiculous for a clear cut issue / completely unnecessary in this case. When I called their other location, they didn't mention issue with the part, but quoted a high price for parts and labour, as well as a long wait period (over a week) for the labour. They then suggested I pay a high extra fee to avoid the ridiculous wait time. read more

Compared to the US or Japan, going to any Canadian technology store is like stepping into a time portal back 1-5 years, but with prices 10-40% higher. This place is no different on that dimension in terms of products, but the bad service and crappy layout drops this store lower than even Best Buy or Future Shop. I came here to get a short list of things that are readily available in any neighborhood techno shop anywhere I've lived or visited before, but I walked away with nothing. Their website listed a few things that were interesting to me and said they were in stock at this location...when I arrived I was told otherwise. I came specifically to try to special order some laptop sleeves but was promptly told (without the guy checking) that they can't get them...though clearly he had no idea what I was really looking for. He just couldn't be bothered. I decided to look around the store to get a feel for what else is there keep in mind for my next computer need, but the result is that there is nothing here worth getting here...you're better off at Future Shop in terms of variety, quality, prices, comfort, information, and service. read more

I heard about this store from my ISP (not Bell or Rogers), and was recommended to shop there to buy a wireless modem. They had it for maybe $1 cheaper than Amazon. Bought it online and am happy with it; it hasn't failed me yet. In-store they have the same prices and are pretty decently priced for many things. They also have friendly service, though sometimes they aren't the most helpful. Discrepancies with online stock made me waste about half an hour of time. I was looking for an audio cable that I'd think would be quite readily available. Their site said there were more than 10 items in stock in-store and you couldn't buy it online. When I went in, the clerk spent about 30 minutes looking for it and couldn't find it. I asked if they could give me the 12 foot ones for the price of the 6 foot ones, which is what I actually came in for, which was a difference of about $2 per cable. The clerk and management (according to the clerk) were unwilling to accommodate me in that respect, regardless of the time wasted because they couldn't keep track of their inventory or keep track of their stock. Their system is unreliable and that time they really frustrated me, but previous experiences of good customer service and good prices (sometimes, not always) has kept my review above a failing grade. Still, next time I will be hesitant to shop there based on the negative experience I had. Generally, when stores inconvenience their customers to that degree, they usually compensate them because it's good business practice to not have a customer leave the store peeved off. I'm going to take it as a learning experience that ghetto computer stores like Canada Computers are generally unreliable. I would be hesitant to make a larger purchase there, especially since I'm in the market for a PC. So basically they didn't want to give me the cable that was too long for $2 cheaper, which is a blessing in disguise (for me), because even though I left the store peeved I ended up buying the audio cable off Amazon where it was less than half the price. If you know exactly what you want, try online retailers like Amazon that offer stuff at good prices. Because of my last visit I'd be hesitant to visit them again. read more

Staff are very quick to give you the wrong ink cartridge for your printer, knowing full that with their no refund or exchange policy they've just made some easy cash. Yes, I'm a nerd/dweeb/geek or whatever insult you care to sling my way. I build my own computers. It's not rocket science people. All you have to do is shove colour-coded nearly idiot-proof connectors together, tighten a few screws, wrestle with some cables/wires and that's it. BAM! You have a fast computer for less than half the cash you would have paid if you went with a company that does this for you. Sadly the new store is far more claustrophobic than the old and they don't have nearly as much space for product so more of it is behind the counter in the back and you have to ask for it. I've built up 4 different computers since parting company with over-priced big retailers or direct-sell outfits and I haven't been unhappy in my decision. I'm not enough of a nerd to "overclock" my computers to squeeze every last bit of performance out of the machine... I'm happy to build a fast and QUIET computer for not a lot of money. For those of you who follow my reviews, I did have a hard-drive explode recently... That has nothing to do with whom you buy your computers (or computer parts from). All drives eventually explode and you will lose all your data. It's not an if, it's a WHEN. (5 years would be the safe MAXIMUM for any HD... But it's not unreasonable for them to start failing after 3 of hard use... or even sooner) Back to CC: I'll continue to shop here for as long as I need computers/computer parts n' stuff. I have had a recent poor experience with Canada computers. I was give the guts of a computer by a friend and took the computer into the Kanata store for the transplant. I was quoted $50 by a very rude and obnoxious tech then when I returned with the computer the price no increased to include a cleaning fee. I decided against having the work done there. I proceed to e-mail the store about the problem and waited 3 days to get a reply. I then e-mailed customer service. After a few e-mails with customer service, I finally got a reply from an assistant manager 8 days later. Not satisfied with his reply I went back to customer service and asked to escalate the issue to the district manger. He accused me of swearing at the techs. I have been a happy customer of CC for many years. Yesterday I went into the 366 College store to purchase a second phone from them. The store was mostly empty except for four employees who just gazed at us until we finally asked for assistance. One approached us and was extremely rude and unhelpful in the purchase of a smartphone. We asked if we could try our SIM in the phone to see if it was compatible with the carrier. I told him we could also check on the carrier's webpage by entering the IMEI. He neither offered to do it for us or the use of one of there online laptops. He finally took our SIM out of our phone and put it in the phone we planned to purchase. He could not activate it because it needed WIFI and told us we could not use the store WIFI. Very sullen and mostly "absent" from the whole experience. I commented "Sales must be pretty good" if you are prepared to let a $600 sale walk for lack of service. He let us walk out as if he couldn't care less. While all this was going on his associate buddies just watched it all. I felt like they were playing some sort of game as to who could pull the best "diss" on the next customer who walked through the door. What the hell is going on at this location? It's no news that computer stores in Toronto are laughable. Well, Canada Computers' stock is not as sad as the other stores', but it's still sad, and their prices are never special. The remarkably low points of this place are the pathetic return policy (something like 3 days for refund, 7 days for exchange) and the unbelievably bad service. Really, sometimes I think there's a hidden camera and all they want is to see for how long a customer can control his/her anger. Their rewards program deserves mention too: among the rewards you can collect, everything BUT technology products. I would really stay away. My tip: buy online from somewhere else. The place is slightly cluttered but if you know what the heck it is you're looking for you will find it with great speed and accuracy and the price point for this place is phenomenally good. WARNING THESE PEOPLE ARE SCAMMERS.DO NOT RENT IN THIS BUILDING. Lived above this shop for a year, the building is owned by the business. The property manager Rico Wong collected $400 from me for SEVERAL key deposits and I moved out months ago anymore never got it back, despite giving back ALL the keys. He claimed we left the place messy after my mother in law PAINSTAKINGLY SWEPT THE WHOLE PLACE. He kicked us out a day early before our tenancy ended (giving us less than a weeks notice) claiming it was to hire professional cleaners, and then the day of our move denied this saying we needed to deep clean the inside of all of the cupboards and saying he never said he was hiring a cleaner...?? we still left the place in acceptable state, MUCH cleaner than what we found when we moved in, and he claimed we left it disgusting and that was why he refused to give our deposit back?? Additionally we never received a back door key after asking several times so had a key made with a locksmith, then he claimed we changed the door knob and locked which is NOT TRUE and he has NO proof of this. I have been contacting Rico, this business, and even the Canada's Computers headquarters since AUGUST and no one gets back to me. These people are scammers and will take your money if you rent from them - the building in general is also awful and has roaches. THEY RIPPED US OFF and I also talked to the tenants who lived there before us and they said a similar thing happened to them and they refused to give their deposit back for reasons that were absurd too. read more

these guys are great!! i just bought a re-furbished Dell Desktop from them for Cheap with a Warranty about a month ago!! it was packaged-up and light, so i just took it on the Streetcar and was so easy to set-up. about 5 years ago i bought a Flat Screen L.E.D. AWFUL SERVICE These guys need some serious service training. They behave like a bunch of teenage brats rebelling against their parents because you asked them to do chores. I had literally just walked out of buying a laptop from one location to the other location to upgrade my RAM as suggested by the employee. Not only did I wait at the counter for at least 10 minutes before anyone even thought to help me out, The employee was extremely rude. When I said I didn't know what type of RAM I needed he acted like I was the biggest idiot the world. Then when I asked him if he would just call the other store seeing as I just bought a brand new laptop from them, he scoffed and said "I'm busy. You call," then proceeded to walk away. I wanted to jump over the counter and strangle him Homer Simpson style. I feel like they should do one of those hidden camera shows at this store so that the management can see exactly how bad the service is and how poorly they treat their customers. NEVER ORDER ONLINE Absolutely horrible online experience with this joke of a company. I ordered a few toners not realizing they didn't have the amount in stock in which is fine because I was contacted via email saying if the product would take more than 7 business days then I would be contacted. I waited 9 business days before attempting to contact them. Their over the phone customer support and online support at head office is an absolute joke. I could not get a hold of anyone for a number of days until i threatened to cancel my order if I did not hear from them by a certain date. Sure enough I receive an email on that date saying there's an inventory error and they would be happy to cancel my order if I wanted to or send out the 1 toner they have even though online says 3 in stock. I emailed them back and it only took 4 days later to get a reply back confirming their online stock level and that it would be sent out ASAP. 5 business days later I still don't see anything showing up from canada computers. I tried contacting head office again but it seems like it's just a front and they don't actually employ anyone there. I called 3 different departments and nobody is there to answer. What a joke of a company. Why offer online services when you can't even sell your products in a timely matter online let alone have anyone sitting behind a phone to solve your issues? James, their online support is as incompetent as can be. Fire the guy and hire someone who actually provides online support. I'm never buying anything from this company again. I bought a 5.1 speakers Cyber Acoustics 5.1 Flat Panel Design Speaker System (CA-5402) from the store at college and spadina. When I got home and opened the package, the wires for the speakers were all tangled in the box. There were scratches on the speakers. Clearly this was a returned item sold as new to me. I paid full price for these. Then when I plugged it in the woofer was not working. 100% sure now, that this was a non working returned product sold to me as new product.
