Bought Toshiba tv for son's birthday in March 2025. Less than 100 hours of watch time later it has a 2 inch bar of lines and xs across the top. Get forwarded to Toshiba's customer service by Best Buy. They don't do tv customer support by email so given number to call. Call number provided, advised it's not the right number. Given new number which connects to a bot. Bot suggests unplugging device, resetting to factory mode and when that doesn't fix the issue and I confirm there is no external damage advises that it's an internal issue and not covered by warranty. Garbage product, garbage service, garbage seller. Go elsewhere. read more

I WOULD GIVE 0 STARS IF I COULD.....I thought two iPads last year for my kids for Christmas. I purchased the "damage insurance" from Best Buy rather than directly from Apple. First one of the iPads wasn't insured due to some sort of glitch it was removed from my order. I reached out and was told both iPads were insured. One of the iPad screen was broken. So I take it to Best Buy to get it repaired. Firstly I find out contrary to what I was originally told only one iPad is actually insured. The attendant at the repair desk tells me it's insured for the damage and that either they will repair it or give me a new iPad. He double checks with his manager that the insurance covers the damage and the manager says it is. I get a call back two days later saying to come pick up the iPad that it's not repaired. Now he tells me it's not insured. The so called "damage protection" I purchased is only for technical repair not accidental damage. He said check the Terms and Conditions. But I didn't have access to the T&C until after the purchase. He tries to say he made a mistake. But that makes absolutely no sense. Again he double checked with his manager. When I picked up the iPad they wanted me to sign a form. The attendant was visibly upset when I refused. The iPad was still working when I dropped it off. Personally I think they likely took parts out of it, why else go through all this nonsense? Bottom line on't buy the insurance it's a scam and take your electronics anywhere but here to be repaired. I've never gone to any other store where the staff is less informed about their products or policies. They also don't honour what they tell you even if it's their mistake. I bought a Desktop Computer from HiTech Bay Inc- Tecnix, on Best Buy website Dec. 3rd 2024. Dell Optiplex 5040 High Performance Desktop,Intel Quad Core i5 6500, 32 BG Ram, New 1 TB SSD, Windows 10, Wifi, HDMI. Refurbished. After paying over $300.00 for the Computer, and $150.00 to have the HD cloned. The tech Geek tells me that in 10 months I won't be able to use this computer for my banking, because Banks then will only insure transactions made with Windows 11, and because Tecnix uses old parts in these Refurbished to sell them the chip in my computer is 8 years old and will not take Windows 11. So my Brand New $500.00 computer will be obsolete in 10 months. I have bought Refurbished from Best Buy before with no problems. It's Tecnix that are the SCAMMERS. read more

Did my research online to ensure they had what I was looking for (Xbox Elite Series 2 Controller). Website said they had them in stock, when I arrived, I went straight to the Xbox and Gaming section where, after scouring the area for 5 minutes I didn't see one Elite controller. What did I do next you might be wondering.... I sought out the nearest employee... let's call her Space Cadet #1. I hit her with a, "Hey there, I went online to make sure you guys had Xbox Elite controllers but I can't seem to find them anywhere in the section where they should be, do you know where I can find them??" Space Cadet #1: "Everything you see there is what we have..." Me: "Is there any chance, because they are more expensive they'd be kept somewhere else?" Space Cadet #1: *in a rude tone* "If it's not there, we don't have it.." Me: *in an equally rude tone* "Okay... Thanks for the help then..." She hadn't even walked over to the aisle I was speaking of or try looking whatsoever. I then sought out a different employee, surely someone has to have a clue whats going on here. The next employee looked it up on his phone, then proceeded to ask another employee who promptly explained that they keep them behind the counter at the cash. I saunter over to the cash where I'm greeted by Space Cadet #2.. Me: "I was told that you guys keep the Xbox Elite controllers behind the cash and was instructed to ask you. That you'd be able to help me out" Space Cadet #2: "Behind the cash?.... No, we don't keep things like that behind the cash" Me: "I was informed by another employee that you do" Space Cadet #2: "No, I don't think so...." Me: "Would you mind taking a look, because I checked online to make sure you guys had them before coming all the way down" As if through some sort of magic they appear inside the first cabinet she opens up. Through my research before hand I had discovered the white ones are the cheapest, the blue and red ones are a little bit more expensive and the black ones cost the most. Of course Space Cadet #2 proceeds to tell me that they all cost the same. I literally had to then persuade her into humouring me by scanning both the red and the white one to double check the price difference before I buy one that costs me more. Lo and behold..... the white one came in about $30 - $40 cheaper than the red and blue ones. All that being said, she did give me a discount and free warranty on a rechargeable battery I was also purchasing. But hot damn, if Space Cadet #1's attitude didn't rub me the wrong way. People shouldn't have to do an employees job because they literally have no idea what's happening. I could understand if the employee was new and shadowing someone else or if it was a one off, but literally 66.67% of the paid employees I encountered on my trip to this Best Buy were absolutely useless, mentally absent, human beings with zero notion of the fact that the customer might be even remotely right about something. If you're headed to this store to just peruse haphazardly, I wouldn't recommend asking any of the employees for any information on anything they sell because you're better off just going home and f-ing yourself. TLDR, If you're not sure about merchandise that you're looking to puchase at this location, forget the employees, go home and consult your pet rock. Ordered an item online. Says it was delivered, but it was returned by their delivery service because I was not at home during delivery. There was no note left at door and my camera doesn't show anyone trying to deliver the item. I have contacted chat 3 times now. Was reassured I would get a refund. It has been a month since I first placed the order, and still no resolution. It is also incredibly annoying having to go through chat, have them verify your information over and over again, waste time with useless conversation and delays when I'm signed into the account and providing order details. When I'm signed in, it should automatically verify my information instead of having to type it into chat every single time. I want to say that I had a great experience today shopping for a laptop. I was served first by Ali of the Best Buy sales team and then had a more in depth discussion with Nicholas from the Intel support team. Both were knowledgeable and listened carefully to my needs and directed me to the most reasonable options for my needs. Both were very patient and took a long time to explain the different features and pricing of different brands. Significantly, they were honest and frank about what I needed and they certainly did not try to 'oversell' me. I was very impressed with their knowledge and practicality, and most importantly, their guidance and willingness to explain what i needed in simple terms.They made a shopping experience that I was somewhat dreading a happy one, and I came away feeling that I had been extremely well served. I kind of prefer this Best Buy location over others as its very accessible. Selection is pretty much the same as other stores. Staff can be hit and miss some visit you have to make an effort to find someone to help you. Being a box store has its caveats and BB is no different there are good deals to be had if you plan ahead. Policies are followed to the hilt which can be a good thing. If you get extended warranty (I don't of most items except laptops) it can give you a sense of comfort that this store isn't going anywhere and will stand behind the stuff. read more

Best Buy is of the American version of the now defunct Future Shop, and while fairly similar, there are a few notable differences. Future Shop was almost always terrible service wise. They either ignored you completely, or seemed uninterested otherwise. This is based on not only my experiences, but also many people I knew. Best Buy is similar, but the store is much nicer and most of the staff are pretty nice. I've had to do a couple of returns, but they've been easy, and prices are usually pretty fair. The last time I made a purchase here was Boxing Day, and the guy who helped me out was remarkably friendly considering he'd probably had to deal with a McDonald's drive-thru of people by that point. Kudos. New layout is great, but sometimes I do find it's tough to pick the company reps apart from the actual staff, or figure out who's the best person to ask about the products I'm looking for. Otherwise, it's a good location. No big issues. Go get those wireless headphones! read more

I am most distressed to find, even several years after purchasing a laptop at the Dundas Street location in Toronto, I am still discovering mistakes and misinformation made that day. First, I was led to believe that an urgent decision had to be made on the purchase as it was a one day only special. In fact, a flyer released the following day included the item for a further week at the sale price which would have given me additional time to research my purchase properly. Next, I was seriously misled, by both direct misinformation and omission, as to the additional conditions of immediate & longer term warranties, Geek Squad membership, and the store's return & exchange policies (all of which I explicitly asked about, and repeated my understanding of at that time, in order to avoid any later confusion). Lastly, as confirmed by a supervisor in the Geek Squad department, the retail store apparently failed to register my Geek Squad payment arrangements to reflect a recurring pre-authorized deduction from a credit card. This has lost me years of a substantially preferable rewards rate, which I am assured should have been set up properly at that time by the sales clerk.. Although the staff seem very personable, somewhat knowledgeable, and despite my being assured they don't work off commission any more, it is clear that this outlet is evidently more concerned with a one time sale than in building a reputation as a trustworthy and reliable retailer. I have already discovered that as I have done, more than a half dozen friends and colleagues have decided that any future purchases of electronics, appliances, or other items which Best Buy carries would be best purchased at different retailer. . I write this review not as an attempt to ruin business for what I have sadly found to be a somewhat sleazy retailer, but as what I hope will be viewed as constructive criticism that might eventually lead to Best Buy gaining a reputation as a store that can be shopped at with confidence. read more

Big Box stores are good for a couple of things I suppose. You can usually find the thing you need easily, there's tons of support staff, and the prices are reasonable. I like this particular Best Buy for a few reasons. Firstly the location is fantastic. Right downtown off the subway and just outside the Eaton Centre, it's pretty darn easy to get to. When you find yourself needing a memory card, or work done on a laptop, it's nice not having to drive to Suburbia and deal with a generic firm on their terms. Secondly, the staff are decently knowledgeable. The Geek Squad service department has always been prompt and helpful and have helped me out of a jam or two. The floor staff also know where things are. You'd think that wouldn't be a tall order, but I've been to a few other big-box stores and have thought the staff knew what they were doing until I realized that the universal remote they were trying to sell me was in fact a garage door opener. Lastly, the best thing about this place, as with all other Best Buys, the staff are not on commission. There's nothing worse than just wanting to browse and go through the racks of a store unmolested and seeing the sales staff circle you like sharks after a good chumming. Relax, browse, and go stare at the big screen TVs for an hour. read more

When I mentioned this to the driver, he picked it up and placed it upside down on his truck. I refused delivery as the box was broken and the A/C compromised as it was upside down. - After spending many hours on the phone with Best Buy, I managed to speak with Deloris from Customer Service. I would have to order another A/C unit and wait for my credit card to be reimbursed. 2nd Danby AC purchased - May 29, 2021 Credit back on Visa on June 11, 2021 - June 3, 2021 - UPS delivered new Danby A/C. Upon opening the box, there were no parts in the box. When I called Best Buy - their solution was to send me parts. The parts department sent me an email saying they would respond in 3 to 5 business days. Again, after many hours on the phone and a letter to Best Buy, I was able to speak to Deloris from Customer Service again. - She sent me a shipping label and called UPS - more time on the phone! UPS picked it up 6 days later. - I then purchased yet another AC unit. At this point, I now had 3 charges on my visa for 3 different AC units purchased at Best Buy. - I have physical impairments and I had to pick the AC to fit back inbox. This has caused me to be in constant pain since June 4th, trips to the doctors and a steroid injected into my shoulder! Thanks, Best Buy! 3rd Danby AC purchased - June 3, 2021 - - This order was not put in my Best Buy account. - Spoke with Deloris from Customer Service and ordered yet another Danby A/C. - Arrival of new AC on June 11, 2021 - Deloris from Customer Service called to follow up letting me know that Best Buy had credited my visa for AC's purchased on May 25 and May 29, 2021. I checked my visa and it was not on the account as of yet. I mentioned to her that my new AC was leaking. We were going to let my visa get credited and Deloris from Customer Service was going to get back to me...........this did not happen!!! - I have reached out to Best Buy many times and to date, Deloris from Customer Service has not called and Best Buy is saying this is now out 30 days and to contact Danby. The last call with Deloris. She was going to follow up with me in a couple of days to return - 3rd AC wanted to have the first two visa credited back on my visa, then to order a 4th AC! UPDATE: Over 32 emails to BB and Deloris called me.......she just got the email......Hmmm! NO MORE AC's in Toronto! I think we are expecting a heat wave. I dropped by to purchase a headset that was on sale. Bestbuy was able to confirm they had 4 in store. They went to the storeroom to go look for it and I stood there for 40 minutes waiting. They came back empty handed to admit that their warehouse is a mess and asked if I wanted it shipped to me. It defeats the purpose of me going to the store but I had a long work day so I agree to it. They struggle for another 15 minutes to input my PO box address before giving up and asking me to come back in 5 days to pick it up. read more

Oh dear, this Best Buy is almost as bad as the one I visited in Markham. I had higher expectation for this downtown core location. So after many Chromecasts, I finally decided it's a rubbish system and opted to get the Roku Streaming Stick instead. Walking into this large store at around 6pm on a weekday, it could get quite overwhelming, all I knew was I should be able to find the Roku in the TV section. I saw one staff member assisting a customer, and then no others in sight. When I finally saw an available staff, I asked him if he could point me in the right direction, he brought me there but very hesitantly. The exchange cashier was a bit more friendly, she's the only thing saving this Best Buy from getting only one star. As I was leaving the store with the Roku in my hand, two people whom I believe worked at the store threw their bags onto the front counter, scaring me and distracting the staff member at the door (whose duty, I believe, is loss prevention). That staff member never checked my receipt, a less honest person could have walked away with anything. Is Best Buy sucking the life out of their workers? Because it doesn't seem like any staff I had interacted with (except the cashier) are remotely content with life. Here's why I like Best Buy. 1.) Their not-on-commission staff doesn't follow me around asking me pointless questions. 2.) Their 30 day no-questions-asked return policy gives you a sense of security on large purchases. I've bought and returned many things because I didn't like them or decided said item is a waste of money. 3.) While I don't always buy the extended warranty, the last time my camera fell apart it was a life saver. Since my model was out of stock, they gave me full store credit for the price of my camera with no fuss. Again, no questions asked. Also, I'm a sucker for yellow and blue. Obligatory Title Pun: BEST for BUYing 'tronics. Menu Readability: What is this? A restaurant? Need to Mention: They price match Futureshop and the two stores have similar stock. I go to best Buy because I believe that it is the best of the worst. I never walk in with a blank slate to randomly find a staff member to tell me all about the TV or Computer or whatever I am looking for. Because of that I always find that I am more knowledgeable than the staff and it annoys me that they don't know things about the products they are selling. I always do my research before going to buy something and when I'm ready to make that purchase I'll go to the store. Sometimes I may ask someone in the department about what I am about to buy but I always regret it. They try to sound informed but they rarely are. It turns out they continue to display computers when they are out of stock, and don't differentiate in any way. Why don't they have a system where they slip something in beside the price tag that says "not currently in stock - buy me online"? Worse, when I explained my disappointment to a staff member, he tried to sell me a totally different computer that no one had even mentioned earlier when I asked for recommendations. He was clearly just trying to still make the sale, and it was really disrespectful. I felt like he was trying to trick me - saying that a cheaper Dell was better than the HP that I wanted. Then we tried to buy printer ink - everything on the shelves was in the wrong place, and so it was more expensive than the sign said. Of course they did not honour the tag price. I wrote an e-mail to customer service, and have never heard back. Overall, a terrible customer service experience. The worst thing about this best buy it's the staff. I had to wait 20 mn for someone to come help me take a tablet, they were to busy playing/chatting around. I was in the middle of the store waiting for someone to come do their job. This is a big Best Buy in a prime, downtown location near Yonge and Dundas. What I like about this location is the staff is friendly and doesn't harass you like some of the other Best Buy locations I've been to (the pressure to buy those damn warranties, especially). It can get very busy here and thus any hot items, such as new games or consoles, are near impossible to get a hold of at this location right away. Come holiday time, last minute shoppers shouldn't even bother trying this location. read more

I frequent this location because of its central and because I work pretty much on top of it. I also don't like the service I get across the way at Future Shop, so its a matter of picking the lesser of two evils. Someone before me noted that the staff was hit or miss - well considering that I shop at this location frequently and in all different departments, I can confidently say that the staff is just about ALL miss. When I say that I shop a lot, I mean that I shop for low-dollar and high-dollar items at least biweekly. My last few purchases included a laptop, multiple xboxes, dvds, headsets, hard drives... you name it, I buy it. I always have to go searching for a staff member to assist with opening locked cases, and when you find one, you're almost guaranteed that they don't work in the section your item is in and they're too busy to help you. To the management at this store: get a hint, you're an AA (at least) level store - hire more staff to serve your customers. I've rarely had issues with finding products at this location and when we're on short notice, its super easy to pop in, find what you're looking for and get out in 10 minutes. This happened recently and I know if I'd been to Future Shop, it would have taken me 20 minutes to find the part I needed. I think this goes without saying: if you can stand to wait for your products to arrive via mail, you're usually better off staying away from the big box stores like Best Buy and Future Shop and doing your research online, finding a reputable seller and buying that way. But if you're technologically inept and don't know your way around buying high ticket items on the net or aren't comfortable doing so, this location will probably work well for you if you're in the downtown core. Just don't expect superior customer service, even if you're buying something big ticket. read more

Each and every time I've been to the Eaton Centre location, I have had a bad experience. Substandard customer service, and very very rude employees (which I take as a direct reflection of poor training and management). Also, they are constantly out of stock on peripherals, and when you ask them to restock it, they will sarcastically tell you to either go to one of their competitors - such as The Source or Canada Computers - or go home and order it online from Amazon (for real!!!). Concerning their online purchase remark: what if I can't? What if I don't have a credit card? What if I need the product immediately, and don't have the time to have it delivered?
